THE LONG HARD LOOK WITH MIKE WILSON
NRL ROUND 5 PREVIEW
Welcome to the NRL’s heritage round!
It’s the time of the season where the NRL pays homage to the great rivalries of years gone by. It’s set to be a blockbuster with traditional rivals Souths and the Tigers kicking off the action at the SFS.
Grab a beer, sit back and enjoy some modern day skill and athleticism with a touch of tradition.
FRIDAY
North Queensland Cowboys v Gold Coast Titans
Dairy Farmers Stadium, 7:30pm
North QLD will welcome Antonio Winterstein onto the field for his debut as a Cowboy after he missed the first 4 rounds with a broken jaw. Importantly for the Titans their tackling machine Nathan Friend has been named to play and will give the Titans a massive boost if he takes the field. The Cowboys are coming off a close defeat and will be looking to make amends. I’ll tip the Cowboys in a close one.

Wests Tigers v South Sydney Rabbitohs
Sydney Football Stadium, 7:30pm
These two traditional rivals face off in a battle to build some consistency. Souths had a pretty strong win last week but this week will be more important to prove that it was no fluke. The Tigers put up a pretty good effort against the Roosters last week given their depleted playing roster. Tim Moltzen at halfback will be better for the run so watch out for him. The team that plays for the full 80 minutes will win this one.
