Wests Tigers v Penrith Panthers
Campbelltown Sports Stadium, 7:30pm
It’s the battle of the big cats as the Tigers take on the Panthers at the former home of the now defunct Western Suburbs Magpies. The Tigers are struggling to find themselves at the moment and are only showing glimpses of the great form they showed in 2010. The Tigers still have a plethora of stars sitting in the injury ward, but the issue of absent players is one that is really going to take its toll on the Penrith side this week. Their star in last week’s upset victory over the Broncos, Michael Gordon was sadly ruled out for the season with a dreaded ACL injury. Petero Civoniceva is away on State of Origin duty and Timana Tahu was also ruled out for the season with a pec injury. These absences will hurt the Panthers more than the Tigers will be hurt by their casualty list. The Tigers are always handy in front of their home crowd but unfortunately the bookies didn’t miss them posting them at $1.33 throughout the week. I’m keen on a Tigers victory but can’t put my money on them at short odds.
