Newcastle Knights v Parramatta Eels
Ausgrid Stadium, 5:30pm
I’m going to be straight up and say that despite their 40-6 thumping of the Sharks last week, the Eels did not impress me enough to get me talking about them. Jeff Robson had a great game but will need to back it up this week. The Knights are coming off a narrow loss to the Roosters last week and should be able to ramp it up a notch in front of their home crowd. If not it will be the Knight’s 4th straight loss. A win would give the Knights a chance to move into the top 8 depending on other results.
Jarryd Hayne played up in the attacking line a lot last week and let’s not mince words, he was playing as a five/eighth for the most part. Whether or not that is an indicator of a future move to the number 6 jumper remains to be seen, but as long as they keep winning, it doesn’t look good for the regular no.6 Daniel Mortimer. Mortimer missed out on playing last week due to an alleged injury but it looks pretty clear that he was dropped because of his poor performances and once again sits out.
