Now that we’ve passed the halfway mark of the season the picture is becoming clearer for the 2011 Dally M Rookie of the Year contenders.
For those of you who are wondering, Hopoate is in contention because a player is eligible for the Dally M Rookie of the Year providing he has not played in more than three first grade games in previous years. Do you think Hopoate is the odds on favourite? Or does someone else take your fancy at this stage?
Jack “the ripper” Reed is a great chance and will be the second Bronco in two years if he wins (Matt Gillett). Me being a staunch Bronco supporter, I would love to see him win but believe Hopoate and Cherry Evans will be hard to beat. Hopoate had an impressive debut in SOO and Cherry Evans is having a great season playing well beyond his years. Plus at this stage, Manly is travelling a bit better than Brisbane so this may help their cause.
You make good points there K Dizzle. And I think that your whole comment just points out the fact that the NRL is enjoying great success in the rookies department this year.
Even with this poll I left out quite a few players that have impressed me in their rookie season. Matt Srama (Titans), Shaun Johnson (Warriors), James Roberts (Souths), Nafe Seluini (Panthers), Chad Townsend (Sharks).
The list goes on!………….
Kalifa fai fai loa has been the most exciting rookie to watch.
