Gold Coast
Race 6, No. 16 Cruze – 4 stars
Race 8, No. 4 Mighty Like – each-way – 4 stars
Quaddie: 2, 4, 6, 16 / 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 / 2, 3, 4, 13 / 6, 9, 12, 16
Race 6:
Chariot Of Gold can lead here & will finally have conditions to suit, Perfect Dare a challenger however I doubt runs as is a duffer on wet ground, Plucky Girl not far away. Tough looking race where there’s a few engaged who handle the ground well however are likely to give away decent starts. I’m sticking with one of those backmarkers though being ALL THAT IS who races well here on the track, loves the wet ground & didn’t have the best of luck last week, should be primed. PLUCKY GIRL will give here usual best up on the pace, she’s a very genuine type whilst nos. 9, 12, 14 & 16 are in the mix.
Selections 11, 15, 9, 16
Race 7:
Pace from Court’s Star, Slydini & Aqua Vite predominantly. Thought AQUA VITE’s run her a fortnight back to figure in the placings after doing so much work early on was outstanding. He stays at the same trip, carries the same weight & this time gets favourable wet ground, the only other change is Fradd replacing Lloyd. SLYDINI loves the wet & will also be up there on the speed from the outset, racing well & must be included. CANTBUYBETTER was a Brisbane Handicap winner two back, certainly not disgraced racing on the speed last week & goes around here in a restricted race, has won on slow ground
Selections 8, 1, 6, 2
Race 8:
Good speed from the likes of Quatronic, Flamboyer & Bullpit here, Divine Service & others shouldn’t be far from the action either, they could run this race at a very solid tempo. I’m a little concerned about the 5 weeks between runs however if he’s solid in the market SIEGFRIED can prove hard to beat. Not far away first up in a much stronger race & Lloyd jumps back aboard, they’re a fairly lethal combination. Wary of the new Schweida stable addition MIGHTY LIKE (ex Mick Price-Vic), flies fresh & won a recent trial (12/12). FLAMBOYER & ZIN ZAN EDDIE both trialled very well, keep safe.
Selections 1, 4, 3, 11
Race 9:
Big field to go around in the closer & the pace should be on from the outset, stack of chances, Good luck! LIVE FAST was down to race last Saturday however was a race morning scratching, resumes this week with a good fresh record & an even better wet track record. With a touch of luck early on he can roll forward & find a spot, if close enough in the straight he’ll be right in the finish. Unfortunately for PRUE’S ANGEL she’s come up with the carpark, her form is better than most here though so not willing to leave out, handles the ground very well also. NILETTE in the mix from the inside gate.
Selections 6, 9, 12, 4
Race 6:
PLUCKY GIRL 2 wins from 12 attempts this campaign and just missed as favourite last start at Gold Coast, a winning chance. COURTZA KING likes a heavier track and a strong finisher, sneaky chance. DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE drops 6kg from last run and rates highly with Adam Sewell aboard, place hope. DOUBT DEFYING a winner at first outing this prep and goes down in weight, strong place chance.
Selections: 8, 9, 12, 15
Race 7:
AQUA VITE has very strong form at Gold Coast and likes a heavier track, commands respect. CANTBUYBETTER on a seven day back-up and ran four lengths back from the winner last start at Doomben, sneaky chance. FELTRE last start winner at Gold Coast and is a strong finisher, not without each-way claims. MYSTICAL RENEGADE won two of three when faced with a heavy track and has multiple wins at Gold Coast, place only.
Selections: 1, 2, 8, 10
Race 8:
FIERY HEIGHTS has multiple wins at Gold Coast and has run well on a heavy track, has solid claims. SIEGFRIED proven second-up runner winning in one of five attempts and should race on the speed, still in this. RAIDO surprised punters to win at long odds last start at Gold Coast and regarded as a strong finisher, each-way claims. QUATRONIC has the speed to overcome an unfavourable draw, not the worst.
Selections: 1, 2, 6, 13
Race 9:
This is an open affair. I’VE GOTTA NEL winner at Ipswich and placed twice this campaign, a close top selection. PRUE’S ANGEL has won at Ipswich and placed in all other attempts this campaign, should be thereabouts. NILETTE strong in winning last start at Ipswich on a heavy track and relishes the heavy, winning two in these conditions before, if in the finish no surprise. BOLD SHOT short back-up of seven days and ran fifth last start at Doomben, could upset.
Selections: 8, 9, 12, 16
Race 6:
PLUCKY GIRL in strong form with two wins from 12 attempts this campaign and just missed as favourite last start at Gold Coast, hard to go past. COURTZA KING likes a heavier track and is a strong finisher, could upset. DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE came on strong when just beaten last start at Sunshine Coast and down in weight, quinella. DOUBT DEFYING a winner at first outing this prep and goes down in weight, place chance.
Race 7:
AQUA VITE likes a heavier track and will likely lead/box seat, has solid claims. CANTBUYBETTER on a seven day back-up and should race on the speed, the real danger in the race. FELTRE won last start at Gold Coast and Jim Byrne a bonus, still in this. MYSTICAL RENEGADE goes well in the wet and goes well at Gold Coast, needs the breaks.
Race 8:
FIERY HEIGHTS goes well at Gold Coast and likes a heavier track, has solid claims. SIEGFRIED doesn’t take many to get going winning one when fresh and likely to race on the speed, sneaky chance. RAIDO won at big odds last start at Gold Coast and down in weight, looks threatening. QUATRONIC has the speed to overcome an unfavourable draw, needs the breaks.
Race 9:
Open race with luck in running crucial. I’VE GOTTA NEL will likely lead/box seat, commands respect. PRUE’S ANGEL winner at Ipswich and placed in all other outings this prepearation, consider. NILETTE seems at home on a heavy track and two wins from seven attempts this campaign, hard to hold out. BOLD SHOT short back-up of seven days and likely to race on the speed, the real danger in the race.

Race 1: SCREAM PARK
Race 2: SOKUDO

Race 4: AWESOME PLUCK
Race 5: CELLARMAN
Race 6: ALART
Race 7: QUEEN MISTY
Race 8: COOLRING

Unibet – From the Trader’s Desk:
Race 1, No.2, CALCULATED – LAY bet
Race 3, No.3, VICEROY – value bet
Race 6, No 1, GUARD OF HONOUR – best bet
Race 6:
Reasonable pace here, as you’d expect over the short trip. 6 and 2 cross up. GUARD OF HONOUR will be nicely set up in the run and he has developed a pretty impressive 1000m record. FICKLE FOLLY was tremendously game winning here two starts back and she ought to be again. Goes well for Robert Thompson. DON’T TEASE ME had some issues at the start on Boxing Day but then sped up front. Bound to at least give a sight for us here. After the claim he receives almost 10 kilos off the topple. GREAT CHOICE has an interesting story and it’s great to have him back after almost two years off.
Selections 6, 1, 2, 8
Race 7:
2 to lead 6 and 7 in this all mares affair. LIVE TO DREAM the lightest raced here and may well control proceedings out front. QUEEN MISTY is really testing the patience of any supporters she has left. 0:5:6 from her latest 15 so. Awe would have dropped off along the way! Drawn widest here, she might have to cover some ground at some stages of the race. We keep waiting for OVERSTEP to switch on this prep; I wonder will we get a fourth consecutive change of tactics notification for her. Then again, Bowman first time might be all she needs.
Selections 2, 5, 3, 4
Race 8:
9 leads 1. 2 and 5 next in line. LANCIATO was rock-solid fresh and has a great record 2nd-up. He’ll be right out the back again though. SHOW A STAR has started favourite in 13 of 23 starts now joins a new stable. Has never missed top three when fresh and really liked his trial recently. It’s hard to fault the winning ways of NOIRE, both this prep and overall. Against some males today but earns some nice weight relief because of that.
Selections 8, 2, 5, 1
Race 9:
Key (on-speed) runners 1 and 6 have accepted for other races as well. 2 and 8 sure to head forward as well. JEMADAR could potentially be some value in the last, going from a soft track to his preferred dry and trailing handy on the inside a very realistic option. That form means SAMADOUBT should also be considered. PIPELINE wasn’t helped by issues at the getaway last start. Previous form has him a big winning chance.
Selections 8, 4, 2, 7
Race 6:
GUARD OF HONOUR last start winner at Muswellbrook when resuming and Hugh Bowman has had success aboard previously, serious player. WANNA GET A WHAT just missed when heavily backed last start at Wagga Wagga and should look to roll forward, place chance. FICKLE FOLLY let-up and likes the cut in the ground, place claims. DON’T TEASE ME has won at Rosehill and placed in all other attempts this campaign, quinella.
Selections: 1, 2, 6
Race 7:
LIVE TO DREAM led all the way to win last start at Randwick and has run well on a soft track, commands respect. OVERSTEP on a seven day back-up and has run well with the sting out of the ground, the real danger in the race. QUEEN MISTY failed to win as a favourite last start at Randwick but has three placings from three runs this prep and placed three times at the track, been unable to get a win, still in this. MOLLYFIED has won at Gosford and placed in all other attempts this campaign, in with a chance.
Selections: 2, 3, 5, 6
Race 8:
NOIRE looking to make it four in a row after another win at Warwick Farm last start and likes the cut in the ground, a winning chance. LANCIATO kept chasing and just missed last start at Rosehill when fresh, each-way claims. SHOW A STAR first-up after 22 week break. Will come to hand quickly and ran second when last first-up at Camperdown, could upset. LONDEHERO finished strongly to end up midfield last start at Doomben when resuming and likely to get a nice run behind the speed, place chance.
Selections: 2, 5, 6, 8
Race 9:
Hard to split the top two selections. MALAISE placed when fresh, commands respect. PIPELINE likes a softer track and has two placings from three runs this prep, must be considered. LEVEL EIGHT placed when fresh and placed in two of three at Randwick before, could threaten. THE PHAROAH has got off to a poor start this campaign but should improve with fitness and should look to roll forward, still in this.
Selections: 3, 4, 11
Race 6:
GUARD OF HONOUR last start winner at Muswellbrook when resuming and rates highly with Hugh Bowman back on board, the testing material. WANNA GET A WHAT generally races near the speed., place best. FICKLE FOLLY let-up and two wins from three attempts this campaign, needs the breaks. DON’T TEASE ME should look to roll forward, quinella.
Race 7:
LIVE TO DREAM gave nothing else a chance to win last start at Randwick and likes a softer track, well placed. OVERSTEP on a seven day back-up and has run well with the sting out of the ground, looks threatening. QUEEN MISTY has three placings from three runs this prep and placed three times at Randwick but been unable to get a win, could threaten. MOLLYFIED has won at Gosford and placed in all other attempts this campaign, dangerous.
Race 8:
NOIRE winner of three in a row after last start win at Warwick Farm and rates well in these conditons, commands respect. LANCIATO came on strong when just beaten last start at Rosehill when first up and proven second-up runner winning in two of two attempts including a win at Rosehill last try second-up, looks threatening. SHOW A STAR back from 22 week spell. Comes to hand quickly and placed at Camperdown when last first-up, not without each-way claims. LONDEHERO came on to finish midfield last start at Doomben when fresh and drops 1.5kg from last run, needs the breaks.
Race 9:
Stand-out between the top two picks. MALAISE placed when fresh and finished in the middle of the pack last start at Randwick, should go well. PIPELINE has two placings from three runs this prep and tends to go well on a softer track, in the mix. LEVEL EIGHT has placed twice at Randwick before and placed when fresh, don’t treat lightly. THE PHAROAH will likely lead/box seat and has got off to a poor start this campaign but should improve with fitness, looks threatening.
Sunday
Caulfield
Race 7, No.11 Prevailing Winds – BEST BET – 4.5 stars
Race 9, No.8 Leodoro – 2 stars
Quaddie: 2,7,8 / 3,11 / 2,5,8,9,10,13,14 / 3,7,8,9
Race 6:
SPEED: 1 and 10 mainly but 3 led (and won) last time. 8,9 handy. WIDGEE TURF quickens like a group horse, you look deep into his form and he has been second to Fuhryk (group winner) and beaten home Mr Sneaky (G1 competitive). His miss over 1600m was a forgive run as he bled. WAR STORY first up over 1600m in below the limit weight may be a danger. MILES OF KRISHAN has run well to Amelie’s Star (speaking of Group form) over 1600m. RIB EYE with no weight can give a big sight here, particularly if pattern is in his favour.
Selections 2, 8, 6, 10
Race 7:
Looks good speed. MANOLO BLAHNIQ returned gelded at Sandown Hillside and ran super from poor (inside) draw then was close-up to open class sprinters in fast time here. His sectionals home were exceptional running 11-flat 400-200m then 11.14 home, the fastest of any horse all day. PREVAILING WINDS is the danger as he split some quality 3yo’s here last start and he too ran great time. That 3YO BM70 race rated higher than the WILDE GEM 4YO+ BM70 but in saying that, Wilde Gem ran very well. BARCHETTA looks smart. AMERICAN GENIUS, CRYSTAL SPIRIT and CAO CAO are all hopes!
Selections 4, 11, 2, 13
Race 8:
SPEED: 6 & 3 may lead with 5,14,15,16 all up there. 1,4 can be handy also. I BOOGI has been kept fresh since that brilliant return win at Moonee Valley. He has not been as dynamic when second up his last two campaigns but fancy he will end up in better races than BM78 level. DATA POINT has very good 1400m form, they’ll need touch of luck from gate one here. KING’S COMMAND closed off nicely fresh and has won when second-up. THE AVENGER brings Cellarman form down from Sydney, that is likeable! STAR FORTUNE’s recent 78 form is strong and could be the overs in the race.
Selections 10, 9, 2, 6
Race 9:
Speed genuine. REVOLVING DOOR resumes, he won fresh last prep then placed to Brave Smash in stakes grade in September. KEN’S DREAM made a good return running on against the pattern, that was his first run as gelding. MURPHY’S REWARD won that race beating Wise Hero (who then won at Flemington) with LEODORO (wants 1100m now) and MOGADOR (ditto!) behind them. MR INDIVIDUAL is a hope here fresh. HANDSOME THIEF boasts a third to two Group 1 competitive horses here in September, huge watch him. Many other hopes.
Selections 6, 7, 12, 8
Race 6:
WIDGEE TURF looking for a hatrick after winning two in a row at Moonee Valley and Sandown, major contender. MILES OF KRISHAN faded from front position to finish just off the winner last start at Moonee Valley and has two placings from five runs this prep, strong place chance. ORIENT LINE winner despite being unwanted in the betting last start at Sandown and Beau Mertens has had success aboard previously, place claims. ROYAL ACE 2 wins from six attempts this campaign and capable of finising strongly, capable of getting into the money.
Selections: 2, 3, 5, 8
Race 7:
DON’T BLUSH BABY yet to miss the placegetters and both wins have come in the dry, hard to go past. MANOLO BLAHNIQ came on strong when just beaten last start at Caulfield and placed when fresh, in with a chance. CAO CAO generally strong second-up and ran sixth last start at Caulfield when first up, still in this. EPIC MOMENT strong in winning last start at Mornington and expect to lead/box seat with a favourable draw, place hope.
Selections: 3, 4, 10, 18
Race 8:
THE AVENGER won two of three as a favourite and all wins have come when faced with dry ground, hard to go past. TROGIR in strong form with two wins from four attempts this campaign and coming off a win at Caulfield, in with a chance. DATA POINT drawn ideally and could come on strong to threaten, still in this. I BOOGI chased strongly to win last start at Moonee Valley on a soft track when first up and two of four wins have come from dry ground, don’t treat lightly.
Selections: 9, 10, 14, 16
Race 9:
HANDSOME THIEF resumes from a 16 week spell and comes to hand quickly, well placed. KEN’S DREAM came on to finish midfield last start at Moonee Valley when fresh. Comes to hand quickly and placed at Moonee Valley when last second-up, sneaky chance. NASDEX will likely lead/box seat and a winner at first outing this prep, chance to place. LEODORO placed when fresh and Beau Mertens has had success aboard previously, not the worst.
Selections: 3, 7, 8, 12
