Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 6:
Good race. SUNSET WATCH ran very good time relative to older horses at Ballarat then was dominant here when backed as if unbeatable. DALSWINTON had mixed luck on debut at Bendigo behind Thrillster, who then won (well) again. FIGHTING HARADA was good at Ballarat splitting Cristal Eyes (then G3 placed) and Akkadian (then G2 placed). He jumped out well. SIKORSKY is on debut and looked sharp at the jumpouts: huge watch! The bottom three have that Adelaide MM form through Zizzis. LET ME SLEEP ON IT has Sanglier form, which ties in with Sunset Watch.
Selections 3 Fighting Harada, 1 Sunset Watch, 5 Sikorsky, 2 Dalswinton
Race 7:
Speed looks strong. 10 of the 17 acceptors can be right on pace so …? LEATHER’N’LACE has outstanding form if you delete her two 1600m runs. She resumes here and chased home Group 1-class filly Booker fresh in February. SANADAAT also resumes. She crossed the line with Group 1 winner Flamberge in a recent jumpout and is unbeaten fresh. BLONDIE was a forgive run fresh. She beat all bar Shoals second up last time in. ISLAND DAZE and BALLE D’OR have nice futures it seems.
Selections 2 Leather’n’lace, 6 Sanadaat, 1 Blondie, 16 Balle D’or
Race 8:
TOUGH to bet here with 8, 12, 15 and17 dual acceptors. SPEED: 3, 1 from 9, 16, 17 with 8, 10 next ? RUNSON not only won by a space here last time, he ran similar time to Victoria Handicap winner Widgee Turf off a slower first-800m split. LEODORO was wide at Bendigo and chased a Group 1-competitive horse. He draws wide. Big spruik on FLYING MURTY and no doubt he’s promising. Suspect ECLAIR CALLING might be the better horse though? SILVERA has won two of three fresh and was 4L off Hey Doc in the miss. WAYANKA can improve lengths here and may be silly odds. NOTIO a hope but gap between runs?
Selections 1 Runson, 2 Leodoro, 17 Eclair Calling, 7 Silvera
Race 9:
5, 6 are early scratchings, 11 a dual acceptor. SPEED: 16 may lead 18 with 9, 10, 11 handy? HARLOW GOLD ran well in a high-rating race fresh then forget the Sydney miss when she had the thumps. Expect much better from HURSLEY to 2000m second up. ABDON hit line nicely at the Oz debut and was right behind TOP OF THE RANGE with NOUMEA a sound third between them. Noumea was only second up and the only one to break 12 seconds for the last 200m that race. NO COMMITMENT is flying and very tough. He beat Magic Consol last time and that’s the horse that then beat Top Of The Range et al.
Selections 4 Abdon, 10 Top of the Range, 18 No Commitment, 13 Noumea
Race 6:
Can’t imagine one of the top two not winning. SUNSET WATCH winner of last two at Caulfield and Ballarat, genuine contender. DALSWINTON placed at only start at Bendigo and drops 2kg from last run, a real threat. ILLUMINAIRE placed when fresh and drops 2kg from last run, still in this. LET ME SLEEP ON IT has two placings from three runs this prep and ran three lengths back from the winner last start at Morphettville, place claims.
Race 7:
LEATHER’N’LACE let-up for 11 weeks and two of three wins have come from dry ground, a winning chance. GREY SHADOW has had a flying start to their career. Couldn’t hold on and just missed last start at Sandown when resuming, don’t treat lightly. ISLAND DAZE unbeaten in both runs and goes down in weight, in with a chance. SANADAAT first-up after 26 week spell and winner of two when first-up including a win at Sandown last go, still in this.
Race 8:
FLYING MURTY won or placed in three races to start career and carries a lot less weight, well placed. ECLAIR CALLING came on to finish towards the front last start at Morphettville on a soft track when resuming and all wins have come when faced with dry ground, could upset. LEODORO amongst the placegetters last start running second at Bendigo and five from seven wins have been in the dry, place best. ARKHAM KNIGHT unwanted by the market but right up there last start at Morphettville and faces a rise in distance, quinella.
Race 9:
HE EKSCELS 2 wins from four attempts this campaign and carries a lot less weight, a winning chance. NO COMMITMENT winner of last two at Caulfield and Flemington, the real danger in the race. TOP OF THE RANGE all three wins have come in the dry and Patrick Moloney has had success aboard previously, still in this. HARLOW GOLD beaten easily last start at Rosehill and should run fitter for past attempts, capable of getting into the money.
Race 6:
SUNSET WATCH (1) Competent type who will enjoy racing against these and if this runner gets its own way early will be very hard to beat. FIGHTING HARADA (3) Form solid enough to figure in this race and conditions appear ideal. Stays under notice. DALSWINTON (2) Classy field here but this runner might have a few admirers in this event. Minor claims. ILLUMINAIRE (7) One in a race with plenty of depth. Maybe for the trifectas and a marginal hope.
Race 7:
LEATHER’N’LACE (2) Reliable type who gets the ideal position for this latest opportunity. Will take some beating today. SANADAAT (6) Has the form to win and is sure to have come on since last run. Warrants a bet. ISLAND DAZE (7) Form of late good for this race and should go close in this grade. No shock to see a win. GREY SHADOW (12) Is better suited than many here and has the opportunity to come away with a win.
Race 8:
RUNSON (1) Racing well. Can show a good turn of foot and can figure in this. FLYING MURTY (16) Pacey type who has the form to win here. Worth keeping safe. NOTIO (12) Open race and is right in contention. Every chance in this field so watch the finish. LEODORO (2) Seems to always run well and pays to follow their consistency. Will be around the mark at odds.
Race 9:
TOP OF THE RANGE (10) Not all that far away in previous runs and this trip suits. Winning hope. ABDON (4) Will require some luck in the run to win but will not be beaten easily. Watch it go close. NO COMMITMENT (18) Expect a strong showing and can measure up here in this event. Take holding out. HARLOW GOLD (2) Deserves respect in these conditions and this grade suits ideally. Has to be included.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 6:
Always a hotly contested affair and this year is no different. Look at LUBITON leading. 12, 13 and 14 could find themselves handy. SEDANZER won first-up last prep despite a marked betting drift and her trial win (in the latest of her two trial wins) indicate she should come back with a big performance. The consistent PECANS was last seen beating SEDANZER (over 1600m in a G3) but meets her some 7 kilos worse off for that half length margin. WHITE MOSS sound on return and unbeaten 2nd-up, must go in every quaddie. INVINCIBELLA next best for me but several others (1, 2, 3, 6, 11) with a chance.
Selections 10 Sedanzer, 7 Pecans, 4 White Moss, 9 Invincibella
Race 7:
ECUADOR was very game in good company first-up and should be positively pushing to the front again. He was 10 wins from 30 starts and now it’s 10 from 41 but among those 11 defeats are a few G1 placings. 2nd-up last prep he was an honourable 4th to Happy Clapper. That’ll do the job here. Others like DUCA VALENTINOIS, MACKINTOSH (new stable here), MCCREERY and MISTER SEA WOLF all could threaten but they need to bring their best and there are no recent wins for any of them. LOVANI the lone last start winner and did so at this track. Back from 2000m could be OK?
Selections 2 Ecuador, 5 Mccreery, 6 Mister Sea Wolf, 3 Duca Valentinois
Race 8:
Speed from a few down the bottom perhaps. 12, 13 and 14 could make the play. If you happened to back VICTOREM when he made his debut at Casino last May you can consider yourself a bit stiff. Buckjumping his way out of the placings there, he has been invincible ever since and good enough to overcome a fairly serious baulk at the top of the straight at Randwick. That was his ‘grand final’ I suppose but you couldn’t look at it and not be pretty Show Less
Selections 2 Victorem, 4 Sambro, 3 Beau Geste, 12 Warranty
Race 9:
The last had 16 accepted but LOVANI will run earlier and several others (1, 7, 8 and 14) are dual acceptors. Quite a few go-forward types engaged. 1, 3 and 7 chief among them. I can’t approach the race with huge conviction but ROMAN SON was super at Rosehill and seems to be peaking. BACKHOUSE BILLY steps up to the richest race he’s contested in undeniably solid lead-up form. Waller with five and I doubt any would shock, bar perhaps the resuming RICHARD OF YORKE. NAVAL WARFARE was again a 3rd-up winner but hopefully can hold up if he comes to NSW to race.
Selections 3 Roman Son, 1 Naval Warfare, 10 Mornington
Race 6:
Looks a stand-out trifecta with top three picks. GHISONI finished in the middle of the pack last start in the Sapphire Stakes when fresh. Will come to hand quickly and ran second when last second-up at Geelong, should go well. SEDANZER resumes from a 15 week spell and has a win from two trials, in the mix. INVINCIBELLA made ground late last start in the Sapphire Stakes when resuming and generally strong second-up winning at Randwick last second-up attempt, has solid claims. NANCY Has trialled and won since last race 35 days ago, don’t treat lightly.
Race 7:
LOVANI last start winner at Hawkesbury and should look to roll forward, well placed. MACKINTOSH has the speed to overcome a very wide draw and five from six wins have been in the dry, each-way claims. PLAISIR winner at Newcastle and placed twice this campaign, in with a chance. DUCA VALENTINOIS has trialled since last race 28 days ago and likely to get a nice run behind the speed, sneaky chance.
Race 8:
VICTOREM winner of five in a row after last start win at Randwick and won all previous races as a favourite, genuine contender. BEAU GESTE placed once this prep at Warwick Farm and finished in the middle of the pack last start at Randwick, quinella. WARRANTY chased strongly to win last start at Randwick when first up and soft draw, capable of getting into the money. LISDOONVARNA on a seven day back-up and a winner at first outing this prep, not the worst.
Race 9:
Hard to split the top two picks. HE EKSCELS in strong form with two wins from four attempts this campaign and running 4kg lighter than last start, should go well. ROMAN SON trial placing in 26 days since last race adds confidence and soft draw, right in this. LOVANI coming off a win at Hawkesbury and has the speed to overcome a very wide draw, dangerous. MULTIFACETS finished two lengths off the winner last start at Randwick and faces a rise in distance, not without each-way claims.
NOTE: HE EKSCELS and LOVANI have been scratched
Race 6:
SEDANZER (10) Classy type and brings superior form to the table who clearly looks the one to beat. WHITE MOSS (4) Genuine type who must be included and do not disregard. Better claims. INVINCIBELLA (9) Latest form looks suitable and is well placed. Can go on with it. LUBITON (6) Thereabouts. Could win if rediscovers best form and worth a spec bet.
Race 7:
ECUADOR (2) Promising galloper who has the ability to have an impact. Go well here. DUCA VALENTINOIS (3) Is a consistent trier who will be close and can win a tightly contested race. KINGSGUARD (7) Honest enough performer who needs the race run to suit. A win wouldn’t surprise. MCCREERY (5) Promising chance who is capable of giving a sight. Has the ability to figure.
Race 8:
VICTOREM (2) Will breeze past them if it is not already a long way ahead and should just win. SAMBRO (4) Going fair and worth another chance. Marginal hopes. MONTRACHET (14) Worth watching here and has plenty of upside. Not without a chance. WARRANTY (12) Solid of late and can win if right. Worth thought.
Race 9:
ROMAN SON (3) Continues to raise the bar and can make their presence felt in this event. Will go well here. MAZAZ (9) Wouldn’t leave out of winning chances. One to watch closely and a legitimate knockout hope. LETTER TO JULIETTE (11) This horse may be overlooked in the betting. Suited in this race and can place today. NAVAL WARFARE (1) Promising type who should be included. Market watch advised and can run into the money.
