SWACADELIC (3) Has been racing well in similar company. Looks to be in good shape and must go close here today. CHOYSA (5) Suited over this distance. Classy enough for this field and is one of the major players. LYCURGUS (4) Keeps improving with racing and can’t be ignored. Exotics chance. BENALL (11) In a race with plenty of depth and recent form good enough for this. Use betting as best guide.

NATURE STRIP (1) Strong performer who can finish with intent. Won’t be far away. SUN QUAN (6) Looks a winning chance in this company and has to be respected. Expected to fight out the finish. SPIRIT OF AQUADA (4) Fair type who meets more depth to this field. Would like to see betting push before considering. TAGREEDA (12) Minor claims on recent form but is meeting a tough field. Worth entertaining from a place and exotics perspective.

Race 8:
MAGIC CONSOL (10) Racing in great form and anywhere near best form should result in a win here. Top selection. OZI CHOICE (6) Racing in good form so respect any positive market lead. One of the main dangers. LITE’N IN MY VEINS (18) A gallant competitor who doesn’t seem to put in many below par runs. Good opportunity here and looks a good EW bet. COOL CHAP (8) Expect a prominent showing so watch the market closely. Can fill a place in this field.

Race 9:
MAN FROM UNCLE (5) Improver who can find its best form here. Definite winning chance. HELLOVA STREET (1) Honest and reliable type of competitor who you can never fault for effort. ABILITY (2) Has the ratings to win this and is a chance here with a soft run. Can make a claim. LABUAN STAR (11) Meeting a decent field here but is capable of better than previous runs. Some hope.

Race 6:
SPEED: 5 can roll along with 2, 4, 11 handy. 6, 7, 8 maybe also. LYCURGUS creeps up in the weights now but all honours were his here last time, when he was left chasing CHOYSA from a long way out. Choysa was brave there! GREY LION was solid and that probably peaks him but he does need another win. HIGH CHURCH and ZILBIYR went back and never really threatened. Forgive SWACADELIC for last time. O’LONERA is well up to these but he’s never really fired here at Flemington so ?? BENALL has Choysa form and is flying.

Race 7:
NATURE STRIP was phenomenal fresh for the Weir stable running the times/sectionals of a proper Group 1 racehorse. He was around three lengths faster home than any other horse on the day! 1200m is the only tiny uncertainty. I AM SOMEONE was clear second best behind him but meets him 7.5kg worse. BEL SONIC was a total forgive run last time. Ridden ice-cold here will see much better performance I’d say. ORDER OF COMMAND is suited at 1200m. Little between most of the others.

Race 8:
SPEED good: 12, 6 from any/all of 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 13, 19. Always great race. MAGIC CONSOL is (arguably) the one to beat if he repeats his last-start Saintly impersonation as a rising 10YO. OZI CHOICE is (arguably) the one to beat if he repeats his very fast win two back but this is first go 1600m. COOL CHAP is (arguably) the one to beat if he runs to his Doncaster effort at 1600m. SILENTZ is (arguably) the one to beat on his booming win here. MORTON’S FORK can (arguably) turn tables on CHAMOIS ROAD and Ozi Choice out to 1600m. LITE’N IN MY VEINS is (arguably) one to beat on huge win two back.

Race 9:
MAN FROM UNCLE went from 11th-fastest split 400m to 200m to third-fastest home (last 200m) and is desperate for the 1200m. A more genuine tempo would help him also. DIVINE QUALITY beat him home and 1200m suits her better also. That ties LABUAN STAR in (relative weights are against her). HELLOVA STREET is a good horse and trialled well at home. He might be simply too good here? Expect better from ABILITY and, also, HUSSON EAGLE (both clear forgive file members fresh).

Race 6:
Can’t imagine one of the top two not winning. LYCURGUS last start winner at Flemington and in strong form with three wins from six attempts this campaign, marginal top pick. GREY LION should lead in a race without much pressure up front and has placed twice at Flemington before, hard to hold out. HIGH CHURCH 5 from six wins have been in the dry and won five of 11 as a favourite, don’t dismiss. FALAGO has two placings from seven runs this prep and rates highly with Craig Williams retaining the ride, in with a chance.
Race 7:
All about one horse here. NATURE STRIP led throughout for a dominant win last start at Flemington and four of five wins have come from dry ground, one of the picks of the day. SUN QUAN 2 of three wins have come from dry ground and has a lot of early speed, place hope. ORDER OF COMMAND capable of closing gamely and two wins from three attempts this campaign, capable of getting into the money. LAYEL generally races near the speed and in strong form with two wins from four attempts this campaign, quinella.
Race 8:
Can’t imagine one of the top two not winning. SILENTZ strong finishing effort to win last start at Flemington and a strong a finisher as they come, should go well. OZI CHOICE just missed when heavily backed last start at Flemington and will likely lead/box seat, has solid claims. CHAMOIS ROAD can’t knock the form winning two in a row at Flemington and Morphettville, could threaten. MOSS ‘N’ DALE will be happy to get a good track and has the speed to overcome an unfavourable draw, capable of getting into the money.
Race 9:
DIVINE QUALITY only just missed in driving finish last start at Flemington and has four placings from four runs this prep, commands respect. HELLOVA STREET resumes after a spell of 16 weeks. Placed at Caulfield when last fresh and won five of seven first-up, don’t treat lightly. PRINCETON SPIRIT last start winner at Moonee Valley on a soft track and conditions suit very well, don’t dismiss. LABUAN STAR has four placings from four runs this prep and amongst the placegetters last start running third at Flemington, place chance.
