Brighton vs. Crystal Palace |
Back Brighton +0.5 at 1.45 (Neds)
Back the draw at 3.00 (bet365)
Looking at the interactive EPL form guide, Brighton are unbeaten at home against weak teams this season. They boast a 8-6-3 home record over the last 12 months and have gone 4-4-1 as the home favourite (they are marginal favourites with some bookmakers at the time of writing). With an away draw against Man Utd and a win over Burnley, Crystal Palace are in decent form at the moment so the draw is my predicted outcome. With that being said I can’t look past the fact that had you wagered $1 on Brighton for every home game over the last 12 months you would be up $11.54. For this reason I’m backing both the draw and a Brighton win by taking Brighton in the Asian handicap. For those who want more risk I recommend the draw. This time last year the result was 0-0.
West Ham vs. Cardiff City |
With a 7-6-7 home record over the last 12 months and a 4-2-4 record as the home favourite, anything can happen with West Ham, but this is more a bet against Cardiff City who have gone 0-1-5 away from home this season. The last time Cardiff City were in the EPL they lost both fixtures to the Hammers. The visitors did upset Wolverhampton over the weekend, but that was at home, plus West Ham come into this game on the back of an impressive 3-0 away win over Newcastle.
Watford vs. Manchester City |
Back Manchester City in the head-to-head at 1.32 (Betfair)
Watford are on 4-game winless streak during which they scored only one goal. They now take on a City side that has won its last six, with five of those six wins coming by 2+ goal margins. Watford have a 0-0-6 record against Manchester City since they were promoted.
Back Manchester City -1.5 at 1.81 (BetEasy)
Nine of Manchester City’s 13 away wins over the last 12 months were by 2+ goals. Manchester City’s last two visits to Vicarage Road resulted in 5-0 and 6-0 victories. Since Watford were promoted to the EPL, 5 of their six 6 defeats were by more than a goal.
Back Manchester City to win to nil at 2.35 (Ladbrokes, Neds, Unibet)
Nine of Manchester City’s 13 away wins over the last 12 months were to nil. Manchester City have won their last three away fixtures to nil and they kept a clean sheet in both of their previous wins at Vicarage Road.
Wolverhampton vs. Chelsea |
Back Chelsea in the head-to-head at 1.80 (bet365, Neds, Palmerbet)
After a bright start to their EPL campaign, Wolverhampton have flat-lined, going 0-1-5 in their last six games. The most worrying aspect of this poor run is it includes defeats to the unheralded Cardiff City (at home), Huddersfield, Brighton and Watford (at home). Wolverhampton are now on a three-game losing streak at Molineux Stadium. Chelsea currently sit 3rd on the table with a 9-4-1 record. Looking at the EPL interactive form guide, Chelsea boast a 4-1-0 away record against weak teams this season. They kept 4 clean sheets in those 5 games and 3 of the 4 wins were by 3+ goal margins.
Everton vs. Newcastle |
Back Everton in the head-to-head at 1.60 (bet365, Neds)
Everton were brutally unlucky not to get at least a point at Anfield over the weekend. They’re on a 4-game winning streak at Goodison Park and boast a 10-2-1 record as the home favourite over the last 12 months. Everton have gone 5-1-1 in their last 7 home fixtures against Newcastle. You have to go back to 2012 for the last time the Magpies got a point at Goodison Park. Newcastle’s 3-game winning streak came crashing to a halt with a 3-0 home defeat to West Ham over the weekend. Distractions over the lack of funding made available to Rafael Benitez have again resurfaced.
Tottenham vs. Southampton |
Back Tottenham in the head-to-head at 1.40 (bet365, Neds, Palmerbet, Unibet)
Tottenham have a superb 12-1-0 record as the home favourite over the last 12 months while Southampton have a 1-4-8 record as the away underdog. Tottenham have gone 5-0-1 at home against Southampton over the last six years and this year’s Southampton side is weaker than what we’ve seen in the past. Southampton enter this clash on a ten-game winless streak.
