Unibet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 4:
TALLY (1) Won narrowly last time at Doomben. Jockey Brenton Avdulla and trainer James Cummings have a high strike rate together. Expected to fight out the finish. TUMULTUOUS (4) Flashed home late into 2nd last time at Doomben and will appreciate a good barrier. Genuine winning chance. GOODFELLA (5) Flashed home late into 2nd three runs back at Rosehill and will find this grade easier. One at a bit of odds. BLACK ON GOLD (2) Has a nice turn of foot. Made up ground when 4th last run at Randwick and will appreciate the drop in class. Not without claims
Selections: 1 Tally, 4 Tumultuous, 5 Goodfella, 2 Black On Gold
Race 5:
HOUTZEN (3) Nice effort when winning last start at Doomben but facing a stronger grade today. Will be pushing for a forward position early. Looks a good thing and will prove hard to beat. USAIN BOWLER (13) Winner last time at Flemington and finishes off strongly. Right in this. INVINCIBLE STAR (5) Fought on well to win two runs back at Rosehill. Has early speed and positions nicely. Can’t be left out of trifectas. DOTHRAKI (1) Having second run back from a break. Jockey Jim Byrne and trainer Peter And Paul Snowden must be respected together. Could run a race
Selections: 3 Houtzen, 13 Usain Bowler, 5 Invincible Star, 1 Dothraki
Race 6:
MANICURE (5) Having second run back from a spell. Nice effort when winning last start at Doomben. Key player. INVINCIBELLA (1) Did well to run into 2nd three runs back at Caulfield. Has a great burst of speed late. Inclined to respect any betting moves and presents good prospects. IRITHEA (6) Fought on gamely when winning two runs back at Rosehill but coming back in distance here. Has early speed and positions nicely. Should be right in the finish. PROBLEM SOLVER (7) Bold effort to win two runs back at Wyong but will have to carry more weight. Should be around the mark.
Selections: 5 Manicure, 1 Invincibella, 6 Irithea, 7 Problem Solver
Race 7:
OUTBACK BARBIE (8) Held up and only got clear running late when 6th in the Vo Rogue Plate. Looks hard to beat. BOOMSARA (1) Bolted in when winning last time at Doomben but rising in class. Jockey Damian Browne is a plus. Among the major players. BONDI (3) Having third run back from a spell. Big effort to finish 3rd last run at Randwick. Won’t be far away and represents an each way player. STARFALL (5) Got the cash when winning last time at Caulfield and having third run back from a spell. Going well this campaign winning 2 from as many attempts. Can’t be left out of exotics.
Selections: 8 Outback Barbie, 1 Boomsara, 3 Bondi, 5 Starfall
Race 8:
DUBIOUS (4) Unbeaten colt for Ciaron Maher & David Eustace having third career start. Impressed when winning at Eagle Farm last start and looks hard to beat today. EXHILARATES (8) Bold effort to win last start here and backs up quickly today. Each way bet. UNITE AND CONQUER (1) Has to contend with a wide draw but is racing in good fashion. Can take this out. CZARSON (7) Another Waterhouse & Bott runner who will be sent forward early. Has looked good in both race starts and can continue that good form here.
Selections: 4 Dubious, 8 Exhilarates, 1 Unite and Conquer, 7 Czarson
Race 9:
ARBEITSAM (2) Likely to be well placed early. Kept chasing when 4th last run at Randwick but first run back from a break. Genuine winning chance. SAMBRO (5) Good show when finishing 2nd two runs back at Randwick and back in an easier grade. Should go well. CADOGAN (11) Won narrowly last run at Eagle Farm and will be hitting the line strongly. Going well this preparation. Strong each way hope. BEL SONIC (13) Brave effort to win two runs back at Ballarat and third up today. Regan Bayliss and Jason Warren must be respected when they team up. Solid each way claims
Selections: 2 Arbeitsam, 5 Sambro, 11 Cadogan, 13 Bel Sonic
Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 4:
The tactics with Tally last start were to roll forward which proved successful, expecting similar here with nos.5, 7 & 14 the others likely to push on, not sure about where Sylpheed will settle out to this trip, for the life of me I can’t work out what she’s doing in this race! I’m sticking with TUMULTUOUS who actually won this race last year & defends racing in very good form, he could have easily won a couple of late with better luck. CHILLIN WITH DYLAN continues to race well, drawn a good gate he should get every chance. A sneaky chance is SKYTREK who comes to hand quickly, one for exotics.
Selections:
4. Tumultuous, 12. Chillin With Dylan, 1. Tally, 11. Skytrek
Race 5:
Not going to tip against the flying mare HOUTZEN here however there is speed drawn to her inside with Invincible Star & Fiery Heights likely to make her earn the front if she’s hellbent on finding it. I don’t think she’s a one trick pony though as we saw at those luckless Melbourne runs, if they want to work her she can likely ease. Whatever the case she was dominant last start & will take a power of beating. KAEPERNICK & EGYPTIAN SYMBOL have been set for this & will run well. Drawn poorly IRISH CONSTABULARY still a definite chance, terrific all 3 starts this prep he’ll be steaming home late.
Selections: 3. Houtzen, 2. Kaepernick, 9. Irish Constabulary, 10. Spending To Win
Race 6:
The speedy Irithea should have no trouble finding the lead here if the map is accurate, Manicure can again slide up & park outside as she did when winning at Doomben. Keen on INVINCIBELLA who comes up with a peachy draw, Waller & Bowman will do their homework & make sure she finds a prominent spot early on, should she drift too far back the tempo might beat her however if close enough they simply won’t be able to hold her out. Leaving those two up front in the mix, their form is certainly good enough. Keeping ELLICAZOOM who raced well fresh last prep very safe.
Selections: 1. Invincibella, 6. Irithea, 5. Manicure, 2. Ellicazoom
Race 7:
First of the ‘big two’ is the Magic Millions for the 3yo’s with Star Fall, Bondi & Light Up The Room looking the pacemakers. OUTBACK BARBIE clearly on top, loved her effort closing ground on the unbeaten Zoustyle over 1200m two starts back before drawing the carpark & striking trouble latest yet still hitting the line well late when fully clear. From the perfect draw here she looks a ‘good thing’! No favours at the gates for BOOMSARA however there is a decent run to the first turn & should he get across he’ll figure in the finish. Respecting the visitors who appear only an even bunch.
Selections: 8. Outback Barbie, 1. Boomsara, 17. Unconditional, 3. Bondi
Race 8:
The 2yo’s get their turn to race for the big money here where the map has the widely drawn Unite And Conquer as the main speed, nos.2, 7, 9, 16 & the emerg 20 have all shown leading tendencies also, genuine or better likely. With most of the pace drawn out EXHILARATES & DUBIOUS are the pair likely to gain the best runs in the race & I’m leaning to the Godolphin filly looked good in her lead ups before proving far too strong here last week. DUBIOUS sat wide & was strong at the end winning at Eagle Farm 3 weeks ago. As always there’s plenty of other winning chances.
Selections: 8. Exhilarates, 4. Dubious, 7. Czarson, 1. Unite And Conquer
Race 9:
The all important last race! Pace from Arbeitsam, Monsieur Gustave & Most Important, that looks about it. Stiffest test to date for CADOGAN however he’s just gone to a new level this prep & has developed a lethal sprint which was on full display at Eagle Farm last start when he made a stack of ground in quick time down the straight, he’ll again be mowing the leaders down. ARBEITSAM comes off an impressive trial win & will likely try to get his rivals chasing from before the turn, must be included. SAMBRO & HUSSON EAGLE can both run well as can another interstate raider SMARTEDGE.
Selections: 11. Cadogan, 2. Arbeitsam, 5. Sambro, 6. Husson Eagle
Betfair – Race Analysis & Selections:
Race 4:
Goodfella and Surprise Bullet will ensure this is run at a solid clip. TUMULTUOUS ran a terrific trial for this at Doomben a fortnight ago when he closed powerfully to be beaten just half a length by Tally over today’s trip. Drawn the fence so gets a soft run until called upon. Ready to peak fourth up today. TALLY is getting up in the weights but has earned the hefty impost. Besides the Doomben win he also collected the G3 Eclipse at Sandown over 1800m three runs back. Solid performer over a few seasons at the highest level and will be hard to stop. GOODFELLA lost his position before the bend and didn’t recover in the Summer Cup over 2000m at Randwick recently. Query at this trip but if he gets some cheap sectionals he may prove hard to catch under the light weight. SURPRISE BULLET tackles a stronger race today but is in career-best form.
1. Tumultuous (5 stars)
2. Tally (4 stars)
3. Goodfella (4 stars)
Race 5:
A stack of speed in this and all coming from the inside half of the draw. In a day of open races HOUTZEN looks one of the banker bets. Bad luck cost her at least one big race in Melbourne during the Spring then she came back to Queensland and strolled home by 2.8 lengths over 1050m in the Listed Bribie at Doomben off a seven-week break. Looks a fair bit better than these. INVINCIBLE STAR has been up for ages and showed some signs of fatigue when she weakened to finish a well-beaten 3rd over this trip at Wyong a month ago as 1/2 favourite. Won a Warwick Farm trial since so might have rejuvenated. Certainly good enough to test the top pick if right. John Sadler has elected to run USAIN BOWLER here rather than the 1400m race. Came with a mighty burst to score by a widening 2.8 lengths down the straight six at Flemington three weeks back. Big class rise today but he is a sprinter of considerable promise. FIERY HEIGHTS and DOTHRAKI for the exotics.
1. Houtzen (5 stars)
2. Invincible Star (4 stars)
3. Usain Bowler (4 stars)
Race 6:
Irithea will bowl along in front from Manicure and Problem Solver. MANICURE stalked the leader then proved too strong in the Listed Nudgee over 1200m at Doomben when resuming from a spell a fortnight ago. Lightly raced mare whose rating spiked second up last prep in the G3 Bell at Randwick. Expect her to have trained on from that first up run and can score again. INVINCIBELLA got back in the field and couldn’t quicken as required when unplaced behind Manicure last start. Fitter for that first up run and this trip is more to her liking. IRITHEA was nailed on the line when attempting to lead all the way in the Belle Of The Turf over 1600m at Gosford recently. Not really a miler so coming back to this trip should see her give a tremendous sight. PROBLEM SOLVER is the other main hope as she steps up slightly in trip today.
1. Manicure (5 stars)
2. Invincibella (4 stars)
3. Irithea (4 stars)
Race 7:
This will be run at a generous tempo, with Star Fall from wider out scorching across to look for the lead. The Queenslanders have a stranglehold on this race – gelding v filly. The filly OUTBACK BARBIE can exact her revenge today from a far better gate than last start in the Vo Rogue over 1350m at Doomben. Had to go back that day then had trouble getting clear and should have finished closer than 6th. J McDonald a key engagement. BOOMSARA was impressive in the way he stretched out over the final stages to win the Vo Rogue. Will again have to work from a wide barrier but his dominance last time is difficult to overlook. The best two interstate hopes have the visitors draws. BONDI strips fitter today after two runs back and can figure prominently with luck, while STAR FALL lines up for the hat-trick after 2/2 wins this prep over shorter trips.
Race 8:
As always the rich race will be run at breakneck speed. Any one of five or six of these could lead so barriers and early tactics will be critical. In a very open renewal of the race DUBIOUS looks the the safest option. Won the Breeders at Randwick on debut then returned over 1000m at Eagle Farm under a big weight three weeks ago and ground out a tough win. Looks every inch a six furlong horse and has drawn to get the ideal run. UNITE AND CONQUER is extra-smart but the wide gate has cost him top billing. Led all the way to win the Wyong Millions with authority four weeks ago. Can win but needs to cross the field without using up too much fuel. Stablemate CZARSON has slipped under the radar a bit with two very soft wins from his two runs. Also blighted by a wide gate but can slide in and look for cover. Last start winner HIGHTAIL along with CHAMPAGNE BOOM can throw value into the exotics.
Race 9:
A good early battle between noted front-runners Monsieur Gustave and Arbeitsam for the early lead. In a tough race to close the Victorian BEL SONIC looks a nice bet at each-way odds. Had a taste of clockwise racing at Warwick Farm last start when runner up to subsequent winner Easy Eddie over 1200m, making up a stack of ground in the run home. Gets a cosy run from the good gate and with the light weight can flash home. At big odds SNIPPETS LAND is worth including. Came off a six-week break and charged home to just miss over 1350m at Doomben last time. Races very well here and J McDonald taking over today is a key engagement. ARBEITSAM is a class runner resuming. Doncaster placegetter with a good fresh record and a recent trial win by 4 lengths suggests he is very forward. SAMBRO, SIR BACCHUS and MOST IMPORTANT are other chances in an open race.
1. Bel Sonic (5 stars)
2. Snippets Land (4 stars)
3. Arbeitsam (4 stars)
Race 4:
TALLY strong in winning last start at Doomben and two wins from seven attempts this campaign, commands respect. GOODFELLA 2 of four wins have come from dry ground and won once this prep at Randwick eight runs back, sneaky chance. TUMULTUOUS just missed when heavily backed last start at Doomben and draws to do no work, the real danger in the race. MAGNUFIGHTER all four wins have come in the dry and rates highly with Dale Smith retaining the ride, place best.
Race 5:
HOUTZEN led all the way to win last start at Doomben and rates highly with Jeff Lloyd retaining the ride, leading hope. INVINCIBLE STAR generally races near the speed and trial win in the 31 days since last race adds confidence, place hope. KAEPERNICK let-up for nine weeks and won last trial at Canterbury, place claims. FIERY HEIGHTS surprised punters to win at long odds last start at Doomben when first up and eight of nine wins have come from dry ground, place chance.
Race 6:
INVINCIBELLA 2 wins from six attempts this campaign and four from eight wins have been in the dry, well placed. MANICURE coming off a win at Doomben when fresh and two from three wins have been in the dry, cannot be ruled out. PLATINUM ANGEL has three placings from five runs this prep and came on to finish midfield last start at Caulfield, could upset. IRITHEA has won at Rosehill and placed in all other attempts this campaign, chance to place.
Race 7:
BOOMSARA led throughout for a dominant win last start at Doomben and has the speed to overcome a very wide draw, well placed. OUTBACK BARBIE has won at Doomben and placed once this prep, don’t treat lightly. LIGHT UP THE ROOM yet to miss the placegetters and two from three wins have been in the dry, place hope. GRANNY RED SHOES Failed to finish last start at Doomben and two from three wins have been in the dry, place only.
Race 8:
UNITE AND CONQUER led throughout for a dominant win last start at Wyong when first up and unbeaten in both runs, genuine contender. YES YES YES winner of last two at Moonee Valley and Flemington, don’t dismiss. HIGHTAIL won or placed in three races to start career and capable of finising strongly, place hope. KRAMERIC has two placings from three runs this prep and amongst the placegetters last start running third at Doomben, chance to place.
Race 9:
Don’t be surprised if a good priced winner emerges as very open race. MOST IMPORTANT has the speed to overcome an unfavourable draw and eight from nine wins have been in the dry, genuine contender. REDOUBLE won last start at Randwick and drawn ideally, could upset. ARBEITSAM first-up after 13 week spell and very strong resuming winning once when fresh, sneaky chance. SHOGUN SUN ran fourth last start at Doomben and carrying less weight, not without each-way claims.
Randwick
