Perth Wildcats v Melbourne United10:35pm AEDT |
Melbourne bounces back strongly in G2 after their G1 defeat as they beat Perth by 18 points in a score-line of 92-74. Q1 ended at 20 points a piece. However every period after that United won and most of them fairly convincingly. Q2 saw them get up 22-21. Then Q3 ended 26-16 in their favour. And in Q4 they ended it by winning by seven points, 24-17.
Goulding scored 14 as he hit four from deep. He also had two boards and two dimes. Alongside him Ware had 14. He also got one rebound and two assists. McCarron scored 13, Kennedy 12, Barlow 11 and Boone 10. Boone also had nine boards, two dimes and three steals. While McCarron shot 4/7 to go along with his five rebounds and four assists. Pledger also scored eight of the pine.
For the losers, Cotton scored 19, White 17 and Kay 10. Cotton had five threes as he also got six boards and four dimes. White also had four rebounds and four assists. Kay has eight boards, two dimes and a steal. While it was an off-shooting performance from Martin who went 1/6 and Steindl who went 2/7.
If Perth want to get back to form then their captain has to shoot better. He shot a horrible 16.6% during G2 as he put up just three points while he shot 0/4 from beyond the arc. He also managed to dish out just two assists as his impact on the game was minimal. He has to play better this time around and lead by example if Perth wish to regain their lead back.
For Melbourne if they want to win and beat Perth for the second time in as many games then Casper Ware will have to have a big game! In their opening round loss to Perth, ware converted on just 8/18 shots while he had five turnovers. Then in G2 he performed a lot more strongly as he had just two turnovers and helped his side to the massive W. As long as his shots falling and he can get an assist here and there he’ll be playing his part in a strong Melbourne pursuit of a victory.
At the end of the day both sides rely heavily on their star PG’s in the form of Bryce Cotton and Casper Ware to perform and lead their team to the win. Both players have played in the NBA previously and have also both won NBL MVP awards. How these guys go head to head will have a massive say on how the game plays out. Both have gotten their buckets this series, but maybe not as easily as they would’ve liked given some of the stifling defences they’ve faced and some of the percentages they’ve shot. Whoever gets it going early will have a better game and thus give their side a better shot at the much needed W!
Betting tip: Pick Melbourne to win the first half at $2.20 (Neds)
Best Tip Of The Round
My favourite/best tip of the round is for Melbourne to be victorious at $2.35 (Sportsbet). They now have all the momentum coming into this game based of their massive G2 W!!!
