Race 8:
GEM SONG (1) was an eye catcher when running on hard for a close fourth in the Listed South Pacific Classic at Randwick last start. Will be peaking after two runs back from a setback and expect he will relish the mile. Showed his class when winning the G3 Eskimo Prince in Sydney earlier in the autumn. The one to beat. NAPOLEON SOLO (4) also closed off strongly when resuming in the South Pacific and finished just behind Gem Song. Likely improver second up. Looks the danger. GEM DEALER (14) is honest having placed at three of her last four starts. Third in the Toowoomba Guineas last time. Trifecta chance. TRUSTY LAD (2) ran on for second after a slow start when resuming. Fitter so worth including. BELLE ROC (12) is worth thought off a last-start win.
Race 9:
Two-time Everest winner REDZEL (1) looks a class above these. He has yet to win this preparation but he did go within a nose of landing the Challenge Stakes before two midfield finishes in G1s. This is much easier and he is suited under the weight for age conditions. WINTER BRIDE (6) is a capable mare racing well. Won a G3 in Sydney first up before running on for third in the G3 Sapphire Stakes. Has won two from three third up so can offer some resistance. JONKER (7) ran a big race when he fought on strongly for second in the Arrowfield Sprint at Randwick a fortnight ago. He could give a big sight again. I AM EXCITED (5) has a good record at this distance and can reel off some impressive closing sectionals on her day. The resuming I’M A RIPPA (2) is next best.

Race 8:
GEM SONG (1) Game effort to win three runs back at Warwick Farm. Winning chance. NAPOLEON SOLO (4) Having second run back from a spell. Was fighting out the finish when winning two runs back at Rosehill but has to carry more weight this time. Expected to fight out the finish. A MAN TO MATCH (3) Comprehensive victory when winning three runs back at Doomben but might be ridden for luck. Solid place bet prospects. BELLE ROC (12) Good win last start at Doomben but up in class. Will be giving the leaders a big start. One for the exotics punters
Selections: 1 Gem Song, 4 Napoleon Solo, 3 A Man To Match, 12 Belle Roc
Race 9:
REDZEL (1) Good run when placing 2nd three runs back at Randwick and ideal trip as proven previously. Should muster plenty of early speed. Looks the winner. WINTER BRIDE (6) Game effort to win two runs back at Randwick but has multiple wins third up. Expect to go close. JONKER (7) Displays good tactical speed. Couldn’t shake them off when 2nd last run at Randwick but facing a stronger grade here. Could sneak a place. I AM EXCITED (5) Charged home into 3rd three runs back at Randwick. Possesses good closing speed. Worth entertaining from a place and exotics perspective.
Selections: 1 Redzel, 6 Winter Bride, 7 Jonker, 5 I Am Excited

Race 8:
The Group 3 Gunsynd is an early lead up to the Queensland Derby in June, how many of these will make it to that race? Nos.5 & 6 can roll forward however I’d suggest there will be others also. Feel the key runner here is NAPOLEON SOLO who goes around second up after a tidy first up effort at Randwick in the Millard Reaction race, might just need one more however willing to take the punt should he be solid in the market. Local galloper TRUSTY LAD put in a terrific effort here first up in a race not run to suit, step up to 1600 will suit him ideally. The two GEM’S, SONG & DEALER right in the mix.
Selections: 4. Napoleon Solo, 2. Trusty Lad, 1. Gem Song, 14. Gem Dealer
Race 9:
The day’s highlight is the Group 2 Victory Stakes at WFA, not a big field however plenty of quality amongst them. Speed from Fiery Heights who will look to lead, I’m A Rippa. Redzel & Jonker will all take up forward positions. The Everest version of REDZEL would blow these away, just how well is he going at the moment though & likely to go around short odds. Although not well placed under the conditions & facing a big class rise I’m suggesting something each-way WINTER BRIDE who will park off the speed & hit the line hard, Randwick effort was good on the wrong part of the track.
Selections: 6. Winter Bride, 1. Redzel, 7. Jonker, 8. Stella Victoria

Race 4:
IRITHEA (3) Having second run back from a spell. Couldn’t maintain the momentum going throughout when 2nd last time at Randwick and should muster plenty of early toe. Will go well here. MULTAJA (6) Fought on gamely when winning last start at Randwick and James Mcdonald is a plus. Should be swooping on the field late. Genuine threat. PECANS (1) Racing fresh today after a break. Looked flat when 5th last start at Gosford but hard to fault at the trip. Open to improvement and has a show in this field. MANICURE (2) Ran 3rd two runs back at Randwick and looks well graded here. Been in the money 4 from 5 attempts this campaign. Better claims.
Selections: 3 Irithea, 6 Multaja, 1 Pecans, 2 Manicure
Race 7:
KYLEASE (9) Solid win last time at Gosford but up against stronger competition here. Should be right in the finish. MILITARY ZONE (2) Nice effort when winning two runs back at Gosford and displays very good closing speed. Jockey James Mcdonald and trainer Peter And Paul Snowden link well together. Will be in the finish. TROPE (5) Fought on well to win three runs back at Kensington and will be hitting the line strongly. Can’t knock. RANIER (1) Has a nice turn of foot. Finished 2.1L from the winner at Randwick last run. Exotics chance.
Selections: 9 Kylease, 2 Military Zone, 5 Trope, 1 Ranier
Race 8:
ARCHEDEMUS (11) Showed promise when winning two runs back at Newcastle but up against stronger competition today. Very competitive this campaign. No shock to see a win. ZOURKHAN (10) Second up from a spell. Was all too good winning three runs back at Randwick and strong form at this distance. Expect to go close. TOM MELBOURNE (2) Ran 3rd last run at Rosehill and will try to take advantage of the alley. Contender. ALOISIA (3) Should get going late. Struggled when 15th last run at Randwick but has been racing in stronger company. Open to improvement and has a show in this field.
Selections: 11 Archedemus, 10 Zourkhan, 2 Tom Melbourne, 3 Aloisia

Race 4:
8 heads it up from 3 and 2. PECANS won this last year off an identical break and carrying the same weight. Clearly she has waited for the Sydney carnival to pass and chooses to come to a track she enjoys. Brown has a good record on her as well. Just needs to find a little luck from a wider barrier. Last year she crossed from barrier 8 to be outside the leader. IRITHEA was rock-solid resuming in comparable company. MANICURE drops out of a G1 and should secure a cute trail without working early.
Selections: 1. Pecans, 3. Irithea, 2. Manicure, 5. Aqua D’ivina
Race 7:
Speed supplied by 9 and 3 essentially. 7 and 4 likely to be handy too. RANIER has not had a lot of luck throughout the current campaign and may have found the right race and conditions to show his best wares. TROPE got too far back in a hot race last time and should set up closer here. MILITARY ZONE was in lesser company last time but he too is very likely to find a friendlier time in this.
Selections: 1. Ranier, 5. Trope, 2. Military Zone, 9. Kylease
Race 8:
Waller with 7 of the 13 in the Gold Cup and there is precious little pace. Not sure who will want to lead out of TOM MELBOURNE and ARCHEDEMUS, or indeed whether either will want to actually be the front runner, but both are going to be handy at the very least and they have the right form to be most respected. We know all too well TOM struggles to win but does have a victory this prep and this class suits. ARCHEDEMUS did not see much luck in the run home last start but that was supposed to be his grand final. Think he can bounce back just the same.
Selections: 11. Archedemus, 2. Tom Melbourne, 4. Kaonic, 3. Aloisia
