Brighton vs. West Ham |
Back Brighton +0.5 at 1.47 (Betfair)
Last week West Ham were taken to pieces (5-0) by Man City, a side they have a poor record against, and this week the Hammers take on another side they have a poor recent history against. Brighton have gone 3-1-0 against West Ham since promotion and 2-0-0 at home. Last week Brighton have made the brightest possible start under new manager Graham Potter by defeating Watford 3-0 away from home. I’ve opted for Brighton +0.5 rather than in the head-to-head because they produced the fewest shots (5) of any team to record a win last week.
Everton vs. Watford |
Back Everton in the head-to-head at 1.77 (Betfair) – BEST BET
Everton controlled much of the game against Crystal Palace last week but they came undone by a red card and had to settle for a 0-0 draw. Impressively they limited the hosts to just 2 shots on target. Everton ended last season with four consecutive home wins. Watford were taken apart 3-0 at home by Brighton last week to extend their losing streak spanning this season and the last to four games. Their last three defeats have been by 3-goal margins.
Back Everton in to win to nil at 3.10 (Unibet)
Everton have kept 11 clean sheets in 2019. Only Man City (13) have kept more. Everton ended last season with four consecutive home wins, all of which were to nil. Over the past 12 months 8 of their 10 home wins were to nil.
Norwich vs. Newcastle |
Back Norwich +0.5 at 1.37 (Betfair)
Norwich were good value in their 1-4 defeat to Liverpool. They caused the Liverpool defence a lot of problems but were unable to finish their chances. They ended with 12 shots and 5 shots on target, which isn’t bad for a newly promoted visiting team at Anfield. Newcastle could only muster 2 shots on target at home against Arsenal last week. Over the last 12 months Newcastle have gone 3-7-7 as the away underdog.
Southampton vs. Liverpool |
Back Liverpool in the head-to-head at 1.41 (Unibet) – BEST BET
Southampton started their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Burnley. They were right in the game with the scores 0-0 at the 60-minute mark, but fell apart alarmingly once they conceded the first goal. Liverpool, meanwhile, coasted to a 4-0 half-time lead against Norwich before winning 4-1. The visitors have won 10 straight EPL fixtures and they have won their last 4 straight against Southampton by a combined 11 goals to 1. Spanning this season and the last, Southampton bring 0-3-3 form into this clash.
Man City vs. Tottenham |
Back Man City in the head-to-head at 1.35 (Unibet)
Man City bring a 15-game winning streak into this clash. They’ve won their last 9 at home and have gone 18-0-1 at home over the last 12 months. Tottenham have gone 1-0-3 as the away underdog over the last 12 months and they have gone 1-1-7 in their last nine visits to the City of Manchester Stadium. The visitors ended last season with 6 consecutive away defeats.
Tottenham were sluggish for long periods in their clash against Aston Villa last week and they’re going to need a 90-minute performance to avoid defeat in this clash.
