Key Quarter: They won Q1, 30-19
Top Performers:
-Newbill had 31PTS and 3AST

-Cotton had 26PTS, 5REB and 3AST
-Kay had 18PTS, 12REB, 2AST and 1ST
-White had 19PTS, 6REB, 1AST and 1BL
Key Player: DJ Newbill. The man is averaging 18.2PPG this season and is leading Cairns in that regard. He has a score-first mentality and is powerful when positioned close to/or running close to the basket. He is shooting currently 53.0% on his two-point attempts. And in his latest effort vs Perth, he scored 17PTS and shot 3/4 on his two-point attempts close to the rim. He is a menace and is a big part of why the little Taipans have two victories over the big boy Wildcats this season. If Cairns are to be victorious, it will require an awesome effort on his behalf.
Betting tip: Pick Cairns to win at $1.80 (UniBet, BetEasy)

Ladder Position: 5th
Wins & Losses: 6W & 6L
Last RD: Adelaide lost to Melbourne, 112-90
Key Quarter: The 36ers lost Q1, 33-17
Top Performers:
-Griffin had 34PTS, 9REB, 2AST, 3ST and 2BL
-Randle had 17PTS, 1REB and 2AST
-Teys had 16PTS, 3REB, 1AST and 1ST
Last RD: SEM went down 108-98 to Perth
Key Quarter: SEM lost Q4, 31-24
Top Performers:
-Creek had 31PTS, 3REB and 3AST
-Madgen had 20PTS, 11REB, 3AST, 1ST and 2BL
-Roberson had 19PTS, 1REB, 4AST and 1ST
Key Player: Kyle Adnam. The Melbourne boy has been big of the bench for the NBL’s newest side so far this season. As SEM seek to secure a finals spot, he’s played his role of the pine and as backup Guard next to perfectly. He’s averaged 8.2PPG this season on 47.3 shooting from the court. And his assist numbers are at 2.2 per game. Another stat to throw in there is the just under one steal he’s averaging per match. His ability close to the basket is second-to-none and he’s getting all this in a respectable minutes average. Expect him to help out SEM strongly in this one.
Betting tip: Pick SEM to win at $2.35 (UniBet, BetEasy)

Melbourne United v Sydney Kings5:30pm AEDT |
Ladder Position: 3rd
Wins & Losses: 8W & 6L
Ladder Position: 1st
Wins & Losses: 11W & 3L
Last RD: United beat Adelaide, 112-90
Key Quarter: They won Q1, 33-17
Top Performers:
-Long had 34PTS, 15REB, 1AST and 4BL
-Trimble had 20PTS, 6REB and 3AST
-Prather had 17PTS, 4REB, 3AST and 2ST
Last RD: Sydney lost to Cairns, 109-98
Key Quarter: Sydney lost Q1, 30-19
Top Performers:
-Ware had 23PTS, 2REB, 7AST, 1ST and 1BL
-Bruce had 17PTS, 2REB and 1AST
-Bogut had 12PTS, 12REB, 2AST and 2BL
Key Player: Andrew ‘Blocking’ Bogut. Melbourne are the side that Sydney struggle against and even he would admit that. To stop Melbourne getting close looks at the basket in this one, he’ll be as critical as ever for Will Weaver’s side. Long will look to score some big dunks and some big, big points for United in this one. And on that part, Bogut will be masisve in trying to stop that. If Bogut can stop Long inside, then that’ll go a long way to suffocating Melbourne’s offence. On the season, Bogut is averaging 1.4BL per game and 8.1DR per game.
Betting tip: Pick Sydney to win at $2.08 (BlueBet)
Perth Wildcats v Brisbane Bullets |
Ladder Position: 2nd
Wins & Losses: 10W & 5L
Ladder Position: 7th
Wins & Losses: 6W & 8L
Last RD: The Wildcats beat SEM 108-98
Key Quarter: They won Q3, 31-23
Top Performers:
-Cotton had 26PTS, 5REB and 3AST
-Kay had 18PTS, 12REB, 2AST and 1ST
-White had 19PTS, 6REB, 1AST and 1BL
Last RD:Brisbane lost to NZ, 96-85
Key Quarter: They lost Q4, 23-17
Top Performers:
-Patterson had 36PTS, 4REB, 6AST, 1ST and 1BL
-Cadee had 11PTS, 1REB and 1AST
-Hodgson had 10PTS, 9REB and 1AST
Key Player: Patterson scored an NBL career-high 36PTS last round. And Perth are good, very good. Cotton will score. White will score. Kay will score. + Hunt is pretty decent as well. It will take everything and more from the former NBA player for Brisbane to be within a shot at stealing this game away from the Wildcats. Brisbane have won just two of their past seven matches. He may need at least 30+ in this one for Brisbane to claim an unexpected victory. Don’t doubt the player who’s scoring just under 20.0ppg. But maybe doubt his team mates. Regardless of whether the Bullets win or lose, expect Lamar to explode in this one.
Betting tip: Pick Perth to win at $1.30 (BetFair)

New Zealand Breakers v Adelaide 36ers3pm AEDT |
Ladder Position: 8th
Wins & Losses: 4W & 9L
Ladder Position: 6th
Wins & Losses: 6W & 6L
Last RD: The Breakers beat the Bullets, 96-85
Key Quarter: They won Q3, 26-21
Top Performers:
-Webster had 23PTS, 3REB, 3AST and 1ST
-Abercrombie had 19PTS, 3REB, 2AST, 1ST and 1BL
-Delany had 14PTS, 8REB, 3AST, 1ST and 1BL
Last RD: Adelaide lost to Melbourne, 112-90
Key Quarter: The 36ers lost Q1, 33-17
Top Performers:
-Griffin had 34PTS, 9REB, 2AST, 3ST and 2BL
-Randle had 17PTS, 1REB and 2AST
-Teys had 16PTS, 3REB, 1AST and 1ST
Key Player: Webster, Webster, Webster. In his return from injury the man went of for 23 big points. He led his side to a win. And it was despite only a half-fit Hopson playing and Rice having officially been sacked earlier. He’s more then just a natural scorer, he’s a leader. And as of currently, he’s trying to lead the Breakers to the NBL finals. In his sides win vs BRI he shot 5/9 from two and 50% from beyond the arc. If that’s his 1st game post injury, just imagine what he’s capable of doing in this one. It’s a scary though to be honest, a scary, scary thought.
Betting tip: Pick Adelaide to win at $2.35 (BetEasy)
S.E. Melbourne Phoenix v Cairns Taipans |
Ladder Position: 5th
Wins & Losses: 6W & 6L
Ladder Position: 4th
Wins & Losses: 7W & 7L
Last RD: SEM went down 108-98 to Perth
Key Quarter: SEM lost Q4, 31-24
Top Performers:
-Creek had 31PTS, 3REB and 3AST
-Madgen had 20PTS, 11REB, 3AST, 1ST and 2BL
-Roberson had 19PTS, 1REB, 4AST and 1ST
Last RD: They shocked the Kings and the rest of the NBL world to the tune of a 109-98 score-line
Key Quarter: They won Q1, 30-19
Top Performers:
-Newbill had 31PTS and 3AST
-Koi had 22PTS, 5REB, 1AST and 1BL
-Machado had 21PTS, 7REB, 9AST and 3ST
Key Player: Fomer Raptor, Outback Shaq, the big man, Nate Jawai. SEM are full of sharp shooters from beyond the arc. In SEM’s last match, out of the starters alone, all of Creek, Madgen and Roberson alone hit 2+ three-pointers. Gibson is capable of hitting them, as is Wesley. So Jawai’s inside game will be so, so important to slow down SEM’s offensive game-plan. It take’s time to get the ball to him inside, meaning that instead of getting a rebound and launching an instant counter-attack, they’ll have to wait to get a rebound. Thus it slows them down. And Jawai is averaging 7.9PPG this season on 51.2% shooting, which is pretty handy as well. And he’s a big body more then capable of boxing out the opposition. He’s a hell of a big, that’s for sure.
Betting tip: Pick Cairns to win at $2.02 (BlueBet, UniBet, BetEasy)

Illawarra Hawks v Melbourne United7:30pm AEDT |
Ladder Position: 9th
Wins & Losses: 3W & 10L
Ladder Position: 3rd
Wins & Losses: 8W & 6L
Last RD: The Hawks went down to the Bullets, 101-91
Key Quarter: They lost Q2, 25-13
Top Performers:
-Glover had 17PTS, 6REB and 1AST
-Blanchfield had 17PTS, 3REB and 2ST
-Dech had 14PTS, 7REB and 5AST
Last RD: United beat Adelaide, 112-90
Key Quarter: They won Q1, 33-17
Top Performers:
-Long had 34PTS, 15REB, 1AST and 4BL
-Trimble had 20PTS, 6REB and 3AST
-Prather had 17PTS, 4REB, 3AST and 2ST
Key Player: No LaMelo, no worries. No Brooks, no worries. It’s somebody else’s turn to take up the mantle as the Hawks best now. And who better than former Melbourne and Sydney player Todd Blanchfield. He’s putting up 10.8PPG this campaign. He’s hitting on an impressive 56.6% of his two’s. He’s also getting just under a steal per game. Now on a relatively in-experienced Hawks squad, he’ll be relied upon a lot more for points and general leadership qualities. He’s fully capable of doing it, so let’s see how he lives up to the task.
Betting tip: Pick Melbourne to win at $1.37 (BetEasy)
Best Bet of the Round
Pick Melbourne to win at $1.37 (BetEasy) vs the Hawks
