Hard to go past ALLIGATOR BLOOD (2). He is a classy three-year-old who has just been too good in winning both of his lead ups. Proved his worth in Melbourne in the spring when he won the Caulfield Guineas Prelude and was an unlucky second in the main event, the only time he has tasted defeat. With even luck he should be too good. LEVIATHAN (10) is a horse on the up at the right time. Kicked off his campaign with back-to-back placings before a strong 1.3L win at Randwick last start at his first attempt at 1400m. If he continues his progress he can be in the finish. SUPERIUM (6) resumed with a Randwick win and was beaten narrowly at the same course last start. Gets a cushy run on the fence and could peak third up. EXHILARATES (5) won the two-year-old feature here last year and looks a likely improver second up. Last-start Flemington winner KING OF HASTINGS (7) has been kept up to the mark with a trial win. Include.
Race 7:
FARNAN (2) is doing everything right. Cruised home on debut at Canberra then proved too good for a talented filly when winning the lead up at Wyong. That has proven a decent guide and he returned a strong rating. Has scope for further improvement and is drawn to advantage. There is plenty to like about the way AIM (5) has kicked off his career. Made it two from two when bolting in at Randwick. He too is ideally drawn. Has to be a leading chance. KING’S LEGACY (1) was unlucky when placed on debut in Sydney then atoned with a win in the McLachlan. He is on the up at the right time. EVERY ROSE (10) has been good when runner up at both starts this time in and could be set for a peak performance. GOTTA KISS (11) has the Queensland form to measure up.

First of the ‘big two’ is the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas where I really can’t see much speed on the map. After the likely scratchings of the emergencies nos.11 & 15 could be the two however right on their hammer will be the short priced favourite ALLIGATOR BLOOD who will come into gate 8 & just lob over in the first 4. Beaten only once (last bound) he’s come back in tip top order & will be at his peak for this, he’ll be a very popular local winner! HIGHTAIL closed off solidly late to win at Gosford in a very strongly run Guineas which suggests the 1400m here will suit. LEVIATHAN next best.

Race 7:
Magic Millions 2yo, this year I can’t find a clear top pick, speed map looks strong with pace from inside & middle gates. I’m going with FARNAN who although maps to sit on the pace might just take a sit from his perfect alley & let some of that speed go, he’s been strong to the line both wins & his work in between races here last week was exceptional. The Snowden pair KING’S LEGACY & AIM the toughest to beat, the former draws ok, can sit off the pace & run on whilst the latter has looked great both wins, the gate is his concern as his pattern has been to get back & run on, he could get buried?

Race 8:
The very much in-form Deep Image draws a car park gate however he should be able to slide across with 5, 11 & 18 the other main players, none of that trio are speedballs. This is as tough as it gets, the two locals DEEP IMAGE & VEGA ONE are in peak form, the fact the former will roll forward take up a spot & highly likely take himself out of possibly being caught wide sways me his way. VEGA ONE scored a great run in The Gateway however his win cannot be taken lightly, very promising & is highly thought of in Stradbroke calculations. SCALLOPINI & CRACK ME UP will be motoring home late.

ALLIGATOR BLOOD (2) Looks to have come back in good order. Should win this comfortably. IT’S KIND OF MAGIC (15) Won last run at Moonee Valley and shows good early pace. Will give them something to chase. EXHILARATES (5) Fitter for last start efforts and drawn well. Each way bet. LEVIATHAN (10) Has shown ability but will find this tougher than previous. One for the multiples.
Race 7:
AIM (5) Ultra impressive when winning by a big margin at Randwick. Can go on with it. FARNAN (2) Strong win in the Wyong Magic Millions. Can add another one here. KING’S LEGACY (1) Really dug deep in the BJ McLachlan. Up to this. CONCEITED (4) On a quick back up and can motor home. Each way the play.
Race 8:
VEGA ONE (6) Nice effort when winning last start at Eagle Farm and hard to fault at this trip. Rates a winning chance. DEEP IMAGE (3) Landed the spoils when winning last start at Eagle Farm and suited at this distance in the past. Shows good early pace. Should be right in the finish. CRACK ME UP (1) Made good ground when 5th last start at Doomben and let up. Does take a while to get into stride. Open to improvement and is a strong chance. SCALLOPINI (7) Second up. Good show finishing 2nd last time at Eagle Farm. Betting may be best guide to the chances and each way is the likely play.
