BetEasy – Race Synopsis:

Race 7:
ALLIGATOR BLOOD (11) is certainly the horse to beat. Positive racing pattern means that he can put the race on his terms and he should land outside the lead or just camped one back this time. No reason to think that he can’t repeat the form he showed to win the Guineas last time and that is going to go a long way to winning this. Low draw could mean that REGAL POWER (4) can settle closer this time. Back from 2000m but has the pace to keep up early and will certainly be strong late. Ratings continue to improve. KOLDING (1) was a flop around here last time but we know he is better than that and he was a star over the mile in the spring, as was FIERCE IMPACT (3) who won the big mile here in the spring, then again at Flemington, and had form that tied him to Kolding. MELODY BELLE (9) also won over the mile at Flemington on Derby Day then ran a cracker in the Mackinnon. That form stacks up well.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 7:
SPEED: 5, 11 from 15. 14, 1, 2 handy. Great race. For mine, 7 key hopes: FIERCE IMPACT measured up to WFA last time and beat Australian Cup winner Fifty Stars third up last prep. REGAL POWER looked home last week but Fifty Stars nailed him. If he can relax early, he can win! MR QUICKIE flew home fresh last prep to finish near 2019 ASM winner Mystic Journey. MELODY BELLE gets to 1600m second up and is class. ALLIGATOR BLOOD, well, if you’ve been with him, I’d be sticking! SUPERSTORM was very good behind him in Guineas and ran as well as Regal Power in G1 in WA. FLIT the other hope in my humble.
Selections: 13. Superstorm (Top Tip), 4. Regal Power, 11. Alligator Blood, 15. Flit

BetEasy – Race Synopsis:

Race 2:
ILOVEMYSELF (3) did a great job on debut when held up a vital stage, before into the clear late and surging to the line. Won soft in the end and is clearly a colt with good talent. Rates well off that effort and can take that next step here. AIM (1) closed off well enough last start and should improve further leading into this. Drawn well and should be strong late. PRAGUE (2) disappointed last start, but is simply better than that and is worth another chance. KUMASI (7) won well on debut at Gosford and appears the next in line.

Race 3:
STELLAR PAULINE (1) continued her upward spiral last start as while beaten, she was very game behind Hungry Heart. Rates clear off the back of that effort and only looks to have to hold her form to break through. KAAKIT AKIT (8) was visually impressive on debut at Randwick (K), but the clock failed to suggest as much. Nonetheless she is in the right stable and she has trialled well in the lead up. Big watch. DUBAI STAR (5) did enough to win first up at Canterbury and while harder here, she is trending the right way. PHILIZZY (2) the next in line.

Race 4:
ZOUSTYLE (5) failed to win last time in, but wasn’t far away and appears well placed in this line up. Has trialled very well in the lead up and they find Tim Clark from a good draw. Should lead and prove hard to gun down. SOOTHING (4) can mix her form, but has a big engine when she’s right. Has won 3/5 fresh and is unbeaten in her sole attempt at this track. Should be strong late. GREYWORM (2) notched up his third straight win in his return and while up in grade, he too is trending the right way and looms as a major threat. TACTICAL ADVANTAGE (1) the next best in his return.

Race 5:
FUNSTAR (6) went down in the Surround Stakes, but it was only a narrow margin and she conceded a key fitness edge to Probabeel. Sure to strip fitter and appears set to relish the step up in trip. Has more to offer and should turn the tables. PROBABEEL (5) has the measure of the former in the Surround, just query whether she has any more improvement to come. Nonetheless she still should run very well. SPEND (2) sets up well on the quick back up, following a handy win at Flemington last weekend, while KUBRICK (1) can also improve sharply.

Race 6:
CASCADIAN (4) was very good fresh behind subsequent winner Special Reward, before he had clear excuses in the Liverpool City Cup. With Boss suspended, Schofield takes over, worth noting he is the only jockey to win on the gelding in Australia. Gets every chance at the weights and it’s D-Day for him. QUACKERJACK (2) took a good step forward when winning first up and with further improvement expected, he obviously has to be respected. IMAGING (5) had clear excuses in his Australian debut and is worth another chance, while ROCK (8) also holds claims second up.

Race 7:
SYLVIA’S MOTHER (7) is unbeaten this time in (2/2) and brings different form having done a great to win at Flemington last start. Much better suited drawn out and is clearly trending the right way. Berry legs back aboard (won 3/4) and she shapes as one of the hardest to beat. SWEET DEAL (2) did far too much work in the lead last start, only to go down in the last few strides. Is clearly racing in career best form and is sure to make her presence felt. POHUTUKAWA (5) is the ‘weight horse’ out of the Guy Walter Stakes and should be very strong late. SPANISH WHISPER (11) did enough first up to suggest she can get into the finish here.

Race 8:
MUSTAJEER (9) peaked late in the Parramatta Cup, but had the race won a long way out. Wasn’t marked far off his peak there and suspect he can improve further second up. McEvoy takes over and he gets every chance at the weights. No knock on MASTER OF WINE (10), he has been most impressive since the blinkers went on. Yet to beat anything, but don’t want to tie him down by that too much. Airborne and looms as a major threat. LIFE LESS ORDINARY (6) closed off well in the Chipping Norton Stakes and has to be respected back in this grade. LUVALUVA (13) the next in line.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 2:
Stratum won this race in 2005 before winning the Golden Slipper. (Prowl – 4th in 1998 – the other from the last 30 years to come through the race and win the big one.) Look for POSTCODE to cross up and take control of the tempo in this year’s edition. Several (6 of the 9) come through the Skyline at Randwick a fortnight ago. Our highest finisher there was OSAMU who does appear to be bursting to break through. Drawn to get a fair way back again though. AIM had his momentum halted 300m from home and really picked up at the finish. Maybe could stay clear all the way from today’s draw. KUMASI brings different form. Fancy she beat two decent fillies on debut.
Selections: 7. Kumasi (Top Tip), 1. Aim, 4. Osamu, 3. Ilovemyself

Race 3:
Three Golden Slipper winners in the last 30 years have contested this race as their last lead-up. Of course Kiamichi last year we remember well. The other two were Calaway Gal who was 2nd in 2002 and Bint Marscay who won it in 1993. Pace here from the Waterhouse/Bott trio, and 3 will pozzie prominently from a low draw. STELLAR PAULINE, without winning, has pulled in more prizemoney than all the other fillies combined. Reckon she can set up a bit further back to day in order to have last say in the race. PHILIZZY, TIME IS PRECIOUS and DOTTIE DEE draw to see every possible chance as well. Not sure same is true of SANCY but she was solid on debut and trialed well enough (against ONLY MINE).
Selections: 1. Stellar Pauline (Top Tip), 3. Time Is Precious, 2. Philizzy, 8. Kaakit Akit

Race 4:
5, 9, 6 and 2 could be the order up front. GREYWORM was right up to expectations on resumption, now he makes his first foray into black-type racing. Notably staying at Rosehill 1100m, he has the option to either push up aggressively or (probably more likely I think) stalk with intent. Here’s hoping he can take the next step. STAR OF THE SEAS has trialled well (including beating DIPLOMATICO in his latest) and I think he will run a race here despite this trip ostensibly being short of his best. He’s been honest in some damn good races. From SOOTHING’s latest four runs in Sydney she has four wins and a 2nd to Mizzy.
Selections: 2. Greyworm (Top Tip), 3. Star Of The Seas, 4. Soothing, 7. Diplomatico

Race 5:
4 males vs 6 fillies in this year’s Phar Lap. 2 to lead I think. 6 to cross up close today? 3 and 4 sit handy. Now with a run under her belt I wonder whether FUNSTAR can try a positive tactic from the outside barrier. She was awesome running on hard in the Surround and that added race fitness could perhaps ensure she can turn tables on the equally classy PROBABEEL. The boys (and the other fillies) might find them tough to deal with I fancy although SPEND and QUICK THINKER should position to advantage and can collect some minor money.
Selections: 6. Funstar (Top Tip), 5. Probabeel, 2. Spend, 3. Quick Thinker

Race 6:
The pace setup here looks to be very similar to how it was in the Liverpool City Cup. 9 and 2 to lead. 4, 5, 13 and 8 could be handy. CASCADIAN further back today?? QUACKERJACK gradually wore down VEGADAZE first-up and now has that race fitness on board. A rise of 200m won’t faze him at all and he is 8 for 4:1:2 for Josh Parr. Disappointing runs are few and far between but some concern is that both runs here at Rosehill have been among them. ROCK was well held by the front running pair on return but I would expect he can lift a few lengths out of that. Market moves with imports like NORWAY and OLMEDO certainly worth keeping an eye on.
Selections: 8. Rock (Top Tip), 2. Quackerjack, 9. Vegadaze, 4. Cascadian

Race 7:
A G1 for the girls – ACTING the one-out filly doing her best against 15 mares. 2 to lead 6 with 11 and camping 16 handy. Last year’s winner Dixie Blossoms ran 2nd in the Guy Walter and I fancy SWEET DEAL might be able to bounce back here. Rating her out front they key of course but she is not one for giving in, despite of course DAWN DAWN just claiming her last time. Rawiller back aboard today and built that great association with her last prep and 1st-up. POHUTAKAWA gets the better of the weights versus the two that beat her home in the Guy Walter, 2 kilos better off than DAWN DAWN and 1.5 vs SWEET DEAL.
Selections: 2. Sweet Deal (Top Tip), 5. Pohutukawa, 3. Dawn Dawn, 7. Sylvia’s Mother

Race 8:
ANGEL OF TRUTH to lead with 3, 11 and 10 all capable of settling front half. Haven’t looked at early markets for this race but I presume MASTER OF WINE is pretty strong as fave? He was so impressive first-up and is undeniably a great chance of extending his winning streak but I am wanting to push another horse up as a super each-way chance. LIFE LESS ORDINARY is a lower percentage play (he’s won 1 of his latest 19) but he seems to have come back really well and emerges through some high grade races. MUSTAJEER drops nicely in weight after saluting first-up. Beaten 1.8L in the Caulfield Cup with the same weight as here!
Selections: 6. Life Less Ordinary (Top Tip), 10. Master Of Wine, 9. Mustajeer, 11. Carif
