RED CAN MAN (7) First up specialist with 2 wins from 4 runs. Was fighting out the finish when winning last run at Ascot and shows good early pace. Goes close. CUP NIGHT (3) Resumes after a spell. Landed the spoils when winning two runs back at Ascot and ideal trip as proven previously. Can’t knock. SAMIZDAT (5) Having second run back from a break. Solid win three runs back at Ascot and performer at this distance in the past. Should just about get the run of the race. Among better hopes. ELECTRIC LIGHT (1) Made up ground when 5th last time at this track and hard to fault at the distance. Likely to get back in the field. Follow market leads.

Found it a real challenge to separate elite talents RED CAN MAN and CUP NIGHT, but eventually settled on 3YO on-pacer Red Can Man. Has an outstanding record and looked in mint condition in his Lark Hill 13/07 trial win, so Steve Wolfe has him ready to produce, and with a suitable Peter Knuckey ride from gate one he really should have too much of a head start on his main rivals. Cup Night is a genuine star, but he will need the race-shape to suit considering he’ll be settling rearwards. SAMIZDAT is a weapon. Expect him to hit back hard after his Beaufine disappointment. High-quality mare ELECTRIC LIGHT could be the knockout with Pike back on board.

VIRIDINE (4) Showed promise when winning two runs back at Randwick. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. No surprise to see a win. JUNGLE EDGE (1) Won last time at the track and going well this preparation. Has shown early pace in races to date. Strong claims. WIDGEE TURF (3) First run back from a break. Did its best work late when 2nd three runs back at Moonee Valley and carrying less weight this time. Must be considered. GREAT AGAIN (5) Game effort to win three runs back at Flemington and ideal distance as proven previously. Suited.

4. Viridine, 3. Widgee Turf, 1. Jungle Edge, 6. I Am Someone

SPEED: 1, 5, 8. JUNGLE EDGE beat home VIRIDINE in the Monash on a deteriorating track. For mine, Viridine is a better horse at 1200m and a better horse on better than heavy ground. If the rain comes again and we are into near heavy or worse, it’s advantage the mudlark Jungle Edge. STREETS OF AVALON and WIDGEE TURF can pull out big runs fresh. GREAT AGAIN will be there for a long way. SANSOM and I AM SOMEONE in the mix.

JUST ZERENE (6) Really dug deep when winning last run at Gawler and should jump out and bowl along. Has the ability to figure. SUPREME IDEA (9) First up after a break. Handy enough when winning two runs back at Randwick and gets some weight relief. Worth strong consideration. SIZZLEFLY (2) Having second run back from a break. Came on strongly to finish 3rd three runs back around here and will be hitting the line strongly. Exotics chance. KNOWLES (4) Hit the line well when 5th last start at Moonee Valley and expected to be flashing home. Market may be ultimate guide.

SIZZLEFLY struggled under a big weight on a heavy track at Caulfield when resuming. She’s much better than that, expect to see her hitting the line hard. JUST ZERENE bolted in at Murray Bridge when first up in January. She was sent for a break after winning her next start at Gawler. GARVOC defeated Calypso Reign when first up here in April. She was tuned up for this with a solid trial on 14/7 and wears blinkers for the first time today. SUPREME IDEA won two of four last time in work, including a listed event at Randwick. Others with claims for multiples: PARLOPHONE, EUPHORIC SUMMER and FLOSTAR

Race 7:
MUGATOO (3) Proven record first up with 2 wins from 4 attempts. Won three runs back at Canberra and going down in class. Is in good order and can run well. NOBLE BOY (6) Really dug deep when winning last start at this course. Should be right in the finish. ORDER AGAIN (4) Hit the line well when 3rd last start at this course. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Deserves consideration. TAIKOMOCHI (1) Races well second up winning 2 from 4 runs. Overrun late when 2nd last start at this venue. Should muster plenty of early speed. Worth a ticket.
Race 7: Mugatoo, saving on Order Again

1 and 9 to lead this race, the highlight of the Rosehill card. NOBLE BOY cut the corner to some extent to win narrowly last start but I would think can set up well enough to have the edge here as well. Up 2 kilos is the price he pays. That means the likes of ORDER AGAIN (who was arguably unlucky not to win a fortnight ago) meet him better off but ORDER has this pattern of getting back which may be a difficult thing to overcome with the rail out 8 metres. Set to run well though. MUGATOO took all before him last prep, to the point where he was considered a realistic chance of winning a high grade G1 at the end of the prep. Just one trial recently and will want further but class….
