Race 1:
SENSATIONALISATION (3) Solid win three runs back at Geelong. Likely to race off the speed. Win looks likely. SHOJIKI (6) Having second run back from a break. Showed promise when winning three runs back at Morphettville but up against stronger competition today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Inclined to respect any betting moves and presents good prospects. VESPERTINE (4) Was first to greet the judge when winning three runs back at Kyneton. Will be positive in the run early. This field suits. MISS DIVINE EM (1) Did well when 3rd last time at this course and backing up quickly. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Include in chances.
Race 2:
AUSSIE NUGGET (6) Came on strongly when 5th last start around here but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Serious player. HIGH ‘N’ DRY (5) Did enough to win last start at Flemington and dropping weight today. Racing consistently this campaign. Can go on with it. THINK ‘N’ FLY (2) Snuck in a place when 2nd two runs back at Flemington but hoping that the added weight won’t hurt. Finishes off strongly. Suitably placed in this race. DUBAI DOMINION (1) Really dug deep when winning last time at Warrnambool and gets a favourable draw. Should be competitive in this race at a bit of odds.
Race 3:
HASSELTOFF (3) Left nothing to chance when winning two runs back at Flemington. Rates well in this race. GREAT HOUSE (8) Second up from a break. Displayed potential when winning two runs back at Limerick. Keep in mind. PADDY MAC (9) Ran on strongly when 2nd two runs back at Geelong and dropping weight today. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Will be there at the finish. UPSWING (2) Third up from a break. Chimed in with a win last time at Wangaratta but racing in stronger company. Worth keeping safe.
Race 4:
ENTHAAR (2) Racing fresh today after a break. Ran away with a win last start at Randwick and was on debut last time. Has found what on first sight looks an easy opportunity and will prove hard to beat. INGRATIATING (1) Fresh today after a break. Was all too good winning two runs back at Flemington. Could prove hard to beat. SON OF MERCURY (3) Started $5.5 and was 3.8l from the winner at Moonee Valley last start on a heavy track and back after spell. Will be looking to sit just behind the pace. Contender in this event. FORTUNATE KISS (5) 2yo debutant sired by Divine Prophet for trainer Daniel Bowman. Others are more appealing.
Race 5:
AYSAR (3) Caught the eye when 2nd last start at Flemington but fresh after a spell. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Could prove hard to beat. DICKIN MEDAL (4) Fought on gamely when winning last start around here but up in grade. Flawless this campaign with 2 wins from as many runs. Live winning chance. TAGALOA (1) First up from a break. Ran 3rd three runs back at this track but will have to carry more weight. Could prove hard to beat. PORTLAND SKY (2) Having second run back from a break. Solid effort when winning two runs back at Moonee Valley and has drawn the rails. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Worth strong consideration.
Race 6:
ELDERFLOWER (1) Gave nothing else a chance when winning last time at Moonee Valley and shows good early pace. Going well this campaign winning 2 from 4 attempts. Winning chance in this line up. HIDDEN LEGEND (2) Brave effort to win last time here and third up today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Include in all exotics. MONTENEGRO MAN (3) Fought on gamely when winning three runs back at Moonee Valley. Should race just behind the speed. Can’t be left out of exotics. CHINA AFFAIR (5) On a quick turnaround. Flashed home late into 2nd three runs back at Flemington. Use betting as a guide.
Race 7:
LONG ARM (1) Was all too good winning two runs back at Flemington and will try to take advantage of the barrier. Expecting to settle just off the pace. One of the better chances. YULONG CAPTAIN (4) Flew home into 3rd last time at Flemington and strong form at the trip. Expected to be flashing home. Contender. TARN’S PRINCE (3) Nice effort when winning last time at Sandown and very competitive this preparation. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Right in this. COIN COLLECTOR (11) Racing for the second time this week. Won by a huge margin three runs back at Bendigo and will benefit with the weight drop. Big danger.
Race 8:
HASSTOBEGOOD (2) Had a comfortable win last start at Flemington. Should get going late. Must be considered. BRAZEN SONG (8) Landed the spoils when winning last time at Moonee Valley and dropping weight today. Displays good tactical speed. Can make a claim. CHARLEISE (9) Having second run back from a spell. Flashed home late into 3rd last start at this course and will try to take advantage of the barrier. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Worth a ticket. HEARTY LASS (6) Did enough to win two runs back at this track. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Betting is the best guide and has each way claims.
Race 9:
DEFIBRILLATE (3) Displayed potential when winning last start at Flemington and expected to be flashing home. Strong form this preparation winning 2 from 3 starts. Look for a bold run. HEAVENLY EMPEROR (9) Brave effort to win two runs back here. Displays good tactical speed. Can give this a shake. PANCHO (6) Landed the spoils when winning three runs back at Kilmore. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Each way prospects. HANG MAN (7) Made considerable ground when 3rd three runs back at Moonee Valley. Likely to race off the speed. Wouldn’t leave out of multiples.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
SENASATIONALISATION (held up until late) and VESPERTINE (caught wide) finished second and third respectively in a similar race here at the start of the month, both having excuses. The Price/Kent-trained filly was caught in a pocket and couldn’t build momentum until the final 200m while the winner had an unimpeded run down the outside. She will be hard to beat with even luck. LARIAT will appreciate getting back around a bend. SHOJIKI finished a length behind a subsequent winner first up. DANCE TO DUBAI next best.
Selections: 3. Sensationalisation (Best of the Day), 4. Vespertine, 2. Lariat, 6. Shojiki
Race 2:
AUSSIE NUGGET was an eye-catcher over this track/trip last start, recording the quickest last 200m of the race. He should be ready to peak fourth up. THINK ‘N’ FLY also settled at the tail in that same race and made up a stack of ground. Fitness is no issue with him. DUBAI DOMINION will roll forward in a race devoid of speed and be in this for a long way. HIGH ‘N’ DRY is up in grade after a dominant last-start win. His two starts over the 1600m this preparation have resulted in wins.
Selections: 6. Aussie Nugget (top tip), 1. Dubai Dominion, 5. High ‘n’ Dry, 2. Think ‘n’ Fly
Race 3:
The in-form HASSELTOFF should have finished much closer to High ‘n’ Dry at Flemington but was held up for a run at the top of the straight. He thrashed a smart one prior and was outbobbed three starts back. On what he’s shown at 1700m, the rise to 1800m here won’t pose a problem. GREAT HOUSE crossed the line with Hasseltoff in what was a pleasing Australian debut. He’ll only improve up in trip. WAR CRITIC wasn’t in the best going last weekend but kept coming. From barrier 1, MULETA is expected to have a much softer run than he did last start. GOOD AND PROPER is promising.
Selections: 3. Hasseltoff (top tip), 8. Great House, 10. War Critic, 11. Muleta
Race 4:
ENTHAAR showed off an electric turn of foot winning the Gimcrack Stakes on debut, a performance which rocketed her to the top of the Blue Diamond market. She’s tuned up for her first-up assignment with a dominant trial win at Werribee, recording the quickest time of the morning under her own steam. INGRATIATING has form around Finance Tycoon, who has beaten MM 2YO winner Shaquero. FROSTIN’ wasn’t far from the smart Anamoe in a Flemington jumpout. SON OF MERCURY came again late after seemingly labouring before the turn in a rich Inglis race on debut. Given time, he has jumped out well.
Selections: 2. Enthaar (top tip), 1. Ingratiating, 4. Frostin’
Race 5:
Siding with the race-fit DICKIN MEDAL in this small but select field of three-year-olds. His good-looking win here last start was backed up by the clock. The classy TAGALOA jumped out in quick time at Cranbourne on Monday with the smart Jigsaw. He was excellent in the McNeil over this route when first up before taking on the older horses in the Rupert Clarke and sticking on well despite covering ground. PORTLAND SKY was a complete forgive run in Queensland fresh. He’s right in this on his best form. AYSAR will improve over further but he can’t be left out.
Selections: 4. Dickin Medal (top tip), 1. Tagaloa, 2. Portland Sky, 3. Aysar
Race 6:
GINGER JONES impressed in a Camperdown jumpout on Jan 19, cruising to the line under a hold to win easily. He does his best work over 1100m and he’s yet to miss a place in four first-up attempts. SAPPHIRE CROWN is another who resumes here on the back of a lovely jumpout. ELDERFLOWER has won with something in hand at her past two when able to lead and dictate. She’s clearly the one to beat. CHINA AFFAIR worked home well in the inferior ground at Sandown Hillside last Saturday. Include again as he seldom runs poorly. KNOWLES is knocking on the door. MESSERSCHMITT goes in the quaddie.
Selections: 9. Ginger Jones (value bet), 1. Elderflower, 10. Sapphire Crown, 5. China Affair
Race 7:
It seemed as though LONG ARM was looking for this longer trip at his most recent start. He took some time to respond to riding before finishing off strongly the last 100m or so despite racing in restricted room. YULONG CAPTAIN flew from the back into third in the same race. He’s won twice at 2400m. CLASSIC WEIWEI turned his form around when stepping up to a similar trip at his fifth start back from a spell. REFLECT THE STARS is back into her right race after weakening before the turn in the Bagot. Smaller chances given to COIN COLLECTER and RIPCORD.
Selections: 1. Long Arm (top tip), 4. Yulong Captain, 8. Reflect The Stars, 2. Classic Weiwei
Race 8:
CHARLEISE resumed here and was strong late at the end of a sprint trip but I think she’s much better suited up to 1400m. She had form around some very handy horses as a 3YO. HASSTOBEGOOD is hard to ignore on the back of her dominant Flemington win dropping back to this trip. With that newfound confidence she can go right on with it. NEED NEW FRIENDS is flying this prep but will need some luck from the draw. The honest BRAZEN SONG was well rated in front by the in-form Will Price last start, and they link up again. SILENT SOVEREIGN was excellent in a listed race first up last time in.
Selections: 9. Charleise (tip tip), 2. Hasstobegood, 7. Need New Friends, 8. Brazen Song
Race 9:
DEFIBRILLATE has been in devastating touch this preparation with a couple of visually pleasing wins at Caulfield (listed race) and Flemington. The form out of those races has since stood up, Paradee going on with it up north and Mosh Music/Double You Tee running the quinella last weekend. HANG MAN hasn’t won for some time but I’m convinced he’s going well. He was very good with 60.5kg behind the subsequent Ballarat Cup winner when last tackling this trip. PANCHO may not have run out the 2000m last start. DAWSON DIVA is a lightweight hope. SOUND wouldn’t shock fresh.
Selections: 3. Defibrillate (top tip), 7. Hang Man, 6. Pancho, 1. Sound
Race 1:
3. Sensationalisation, 1. Miss Divine Em, 6. Shojiki, 4. Vespertine
Race 2:
6. Aussie Nugget, 2. Think ‘N’ Fly, 1. Dubai Dominion, 5. High ‘n’ Dry
Race 3:
3. Hasseltoff, 14. Rich Dane, 9. Paddy Mac
Race 4:
2. Enthaar, 1. Ingratiating, 5. Fortunate Kiss, 6. Twilight
Race 5:
1. Tagaloa, 3. Aysar, 4. Dickin Medal, 2. Portland Sky
Race 6:
2. Hidden Legend, 4. Melodeon, 9. Ginger Jones, 5. China Affair
Race 7:
4. Yulong Captain, 1. Long Arm, 11. Coin Collector, 3. Tarn’s Prince
Race 8:
6. Hearty Lass, 3. Barbie’s Fox, 10. Sky Horse, 2. Hasstobegood
Race 9:
3. Defibrillate, 1. Sound, 10. Dawson Diva, 7. Hang Man
Race 2: 2. Think ‘n’ Fly
Race 9: 9. Heavenly Emperor
Quaddie: 1,2,8/1,4,5,8,12/2,7,9,10/3,9
Race 1: Shojiki (3.90) (win)
Race 5: Tagaloa (3.60) (win)
Race 7: Yulong Captain (3.30) (win)

Race 4: Enthaar (1.24) (win)
Rosehill
Race 7: 1 – Flit (8.00), 2 – Savatiano (3.50), 3 – Ole Kirk (3.80)
Race 1:
AL MAH HAHA (1) Showed promise moving through the field into 5th last run at Randwick but up in weight today. Should race just behind the speed. Deserves favouritism. PERFECT PITCH (12) Snuck in a place when 2nd three runs back at Warwick Farm and gets the perfect alley. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Can take this out. BAILEYS (7) Displayed good finishing speed when 2nd last start at Ballina and having third run back from a spell. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Up to these. TORO TORO (3) Tidy effort when 3rd last start at Randwick. In the mix.
Race 2:
MALLORY (1) First up. Good run when finishing 2nd last run at Randwick and having second run today. Looks suited and should just win this. TOTAL BABE (3) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Grabbed towards the finish when 3rd two runs back at Randwick but facing a stronger grade. No surprise to see a win. VIANELLO (2) Won two runs back at Newcastle but racing in stronger company today. Gets a nice run behind the speed. Include in chances. EXCELA BELLA (4) Resuming. Was $6 and ended up 3.4l behind the winner at Bendigo last time on a heavy track and up against stronger competition. A win wouldn’t surprise.
Race 3:
HOME AFFAIRS (9) Initial appearance for Chris Waller 2yo by I Am Invincible. Should give plenty of sight. CONSTRUCT (3) Charged home into 2nd last run at Randwick and likely to race off the speed. Is in good order and can run well. GIANNIS (8) Flying Artie 2yo trained by Chris Waller having first race appearance. Place chance. ZETHUS (4) Flashed home late into 2nd last run at this track and will appreciate the drop in weight. Place chance.
Race 4:
GREAT HOUSE (8) Having second run back from a break. Left nothing to chance when winning two runs back at Limerick and will appreciate the drop in weight. Appears well in this. VADIYANN (1) Gave plenty of cheek when 2nd last run around here. Likely to be well placed early. Has the ability to figure. CALIFORNIA LONGBOW (7) Started $6.5 and finished 5th last time at Randwick. Happy to forgive that run and finishes off strongly. Better claims. HARPO MARX (3) Fought on well to win last time at this venue but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Very competitive this preparation. Can feature.
Race 5:
MARSANNAY (6) Having third run back from a break. Honest race when 3rd last time at Gold Coast but rising in weight today. Likely threat. SHAIK (11) Displayed potential when winning two runs back at Warwick Farm. Winnable race. OSCAR ZULU (4) Brave effort to win two runs back here and third up. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Respect against this field. DERBARI (5) Came on strongly to finish 3rd last run at Wyong and having third run back from a spell. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Don’t overlook.
Race 6:
CANASTA (5) Solid run on the pace before weakening to finish 2nd last start at this track and shows good early pace. Right in this. ULYSSES (2) Got the prize when winning two runs back at Randwick and displays good tactical speed. Very competitive this campaign. Strong claims. STARSPANGLED RODEO (4) Having second run back from a break. Improved when 5th last start here and will try to take advantage of the draw. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Should be right in the finish. CHARRETERA (6) Was fighting out the finish when winning three runs back at Canterbury. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Suited.
Race 7:
SAVATIANO (5) Fought on well to win last start around here and displays good tactical speed. Big chance. OLE KIRK (9) Back from a break. Was fighting out the finish when winning last run at Caulfield and will appreciate a good draw. Should be in the finish. STANDOUT (3) Should be ready to fire fresh with 2 wins from 3 starts. Ran on strongly when 2nd two runs back at Randwick and drops back to a suitable grade. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Can go on with it. STAR OF THE SEAS (2) Resumes after a break. Came on strongly to finish 5th last time at the track but goes up in weight. Among better hopes.
Race 8:
FROSTY ROCKS (1) Kept chasing when 4th last time at Gold Coast but rises in weight. Should muster plenty of early toe. Looks promising in this race. ABOVE AND BEYOND (11) Solid win last run at the track but facing a stronger class. Can go through the gears. Must respect in this event. ULYSSES (7) Chimed in with a win two runs back at Randwick and displays good tactical speed. Very competitive this campaign. Warrants a bet. TRUE DETECTIVE (3) Competitive effort when 3rd last start at Randwick. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Warrants a bet.
Race 9:
MASKED CRUSADER (7) Displayed good finishing speed when 3rd two runs back at this course but fresh today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Massive hope. BIG PARADE (3) Had a comfortable win two runs back at Randwick. Will be positive in the run early. Rates well in this race. MO’S CROWN (5) Nice run finishing 2nd two runs back at Randwick and suited at this trip historically. Should be going forward early. Definite claims. THERMOSPHERE (8) First up after a break. Got the upper hand late when winning three runs back at Flemington and will benefit with the weight drop. Each way hope.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
Showers expect Thursday and Friday but it may only bring about 20mm tops. Still, perhaps we are just into the Soft range?? A bit hard to know but I am happy with this preview on anything down to a 6. Rail out 3 metres. We begin with a 1500m Highway (just the one this week) and expecting speed here from 11, 2 and 13. AL MAH HAHA looks nicely placed in a Highway after contesting some more-than-handy races over the last few months. PROVEN CLASS came back to this distance last start and did her usual get back/run on strong trick. LOAFING and WAR DECK meet again and could measure up.
Selections: 1. Al Mah Haha (value bet), 9. Proven Class, 4. Loafing, 6. War Deck
Race 2:
4 and 9 both in on Friday as well. MALLORY has a debut 3rd to Enthaar and nobody is knocking that form. Has had one soft trial. TOTAL BABE 3rd in that Enthaar race and won a Jan 4 trial pretty well here (over She’s All Class). DIVINA has no issue getting a run this week and has won both trials from handy positions. NORTHULDRA trailed up and was only just nosed out in her only trial (Jan 21). Box-seats from inside draw?? ZENTIME has raced both forward and back in her two recent heats. Finished 2nd to EXCELA BELLA in the one where she raced forward. Expecting MIKASA off the pace from barrier 8. PERFECT DARLING was a barrier scratching last week. Has the toe to cross up from the outside. Latest trial pleasing.
Selections: 3. Total Babe (top tip), 5. Divina, 7. Northuldra, 1. Mallory
Race 3:
More 2YOs, the colts this time. CONSTRUCT has done enough in two recent hitouts. Like his barrier here. CONEXY and READILY AVAILABULL also come in off pleasing trials. Four newcomers – BULLPEN wide/OK in first trial, rails and just edged out in latest. Nicely drawn here. GIANNIS runner-up in both, on Jan 4 and 15. Has been a bit slow out in each but has obviously closed them out in solid fashion. Stablemate HOME AFFAIRS just the one hitout and that was here on 15/1. Jumped from the inside and was up sharing the front before extending away. RETRIEVAL had two back in the spring and two recently. Latest two pretty quiet.
Selections: 3. Construct (top tip), 2. Conexy, 1. Readily Availabull, 4. Zethus
Race 4:
5 and 6 also in on Friday at Canterbury. GREAT HOUSE jumps off the page as lightest raced and the rise in trip looks perfect for him. I’ll have him if he’s come up from Melbourne. VADIYANN was very game and created a great show last week but HARPO MARX steadily wore him down and had last say. Will we such daring tactics on the toppie again. He meets HARPO 2 kilos better off. WORD FOR WORD offered a sub-par run last time and there’s not too many of those in her career. Could bounce back and expecting her at some odds.
Selections: 8. Great House (Best of the Day), 1. Vadiyann, 3. Harpo Marx, 2. Word For Word
Race 5:
2, 3 and 12 your dual acceptors. Pace comes from 6 and 10 with 7 and 4 trailing nice and handy. OSCAR ZULU sets up a treat and approaches this back from QLD 3rd-up in his prep. We have some him trailing in horses like BAZOOKA and MARSANNAY in the past but that was then and this is now. MARSANNAY also solid up in Queensland and he will either be leading or outside the leader here. Can’t knock. STARLA places four times as often as she wins, largely because of her get-back approach.
Selections: 4. Oscar Zulu (top tip), 6. Marsannay, 1. Starla, 7. Tycoonist
Race 6:
Half the field – 2, 3, 4, 8, 11 and 12 – have accepted for other races. Hard to be certain then but if they’re all here we can expect pace from 2, 5 and 8. I’ll butter up to be on ULYSSES again. Liked him last week and he never stopped trying but one got past. His only previous one week turnaround was a positive 2nd placing. JUVENTUS was only just off him a fortnight prior and they meet the same at the weights in this. Swaps winkers for blinkers. CANASTA has speed, was good on return, and could be promoted to top pick pending scratchings. CHARRETERA a solid place hope as always. COGNAC a possible improver?? Had market support first-up.
Selections: 2. Ulysses (top tip), 5. Canasta, 3. Juventus, 6. Charretera
Race 7:
As is often the case it’s all resumers in the Expressway, the afternoon’s highlight and a clear sign that carnival racing is back. MIZZY has led throughout in two recent trials and I would expect her to want the front here. I’d love to see her come back near her best but she couldn’t do that in her one spring appearance. FLIT has good figures at 1200m and has never missed top three when fresh. What does she do from this gate though? I wouldn’t be surprised to see her crossing prominent. OLE KIRK the sole 3YO and all class. Will be launching. STANDOUT was good from the back in his recent trial and should set up with a few behind him in this.
Selections: 6. Flit (top tip), 9. Ole Kirk, 3. Standout, 5. Savatiano
Race 8:
We wait to see whether 7 and 8 are here or run earlier. 1 the leader with 7 handy if this is the option. BETCHA FLYING can see a cushy rails trail today but we know she can find a hold-up. Does she take this up the challenge here on a quick backup? FROSTY ROCKS back to the scene of his first-up win when he led uncontested. Let’s see how that pans out for him here (pending final scratchings). ULYSSES up in grade but does get the appropriate weight drop. Absolutely not ruling out the resuming MOUNT POPA. He has a good autumn ahead of him I would think. Even YONKERS ran really well fresh last prep at 1400.
Selections: 2. Mount Popa, 5. Betcha Flying, 1. Frosty Rocks
Race 9:
A more than handy BM88 sprint to close the meeting down. Speed assured from 3 and 10 but they are not the only ones. 2 was forward in Melbourne and 5 could get busy from out wide. 7 trialled positively, leading throughout. The return of MASKED CRUSADER is sure to have plenty of tongues wagging. He lowered himself into disrepute by the end of last prep (and I have not ever really been on his bandwagon) but he coasted in that Jan 15 trial and could set up very nicely indeed today. Does he have to lead though?? That could present a problem. And what odds is he??? Fancied HANDSPUN 1st-up and she was ordinary.
Selections: 7. Masked Crusader (top tip), 8. Thermosphere, 10. Lillemor, 1. Southern Lad
Race 1: 1. Al Mah Haha
Race 5: 4. Oscar Zulu
Race 7:
Best bet: Flit each-way
Trifecta: 5,6/2,3,5,6,7,9/2,3,5,6,7,9
1. Flit
2. Savatiano
3. Mizzy
4. Star of the Seas
5. Ole Kirk
Race 8: 2. Mount Popa
Quaddie: 2,4,5/5,6/1,2/3,7
