Race 1:
WHITE HIBISCUS (9) Solid effort when winning two runs back at Sandown and carrying less weight this time. Should race just behind the speed. Ready to win. QUANTUM MECHANIC (8) Hit the line well when 3rd last time at Sandown and suited by the weight drop. Won’t be far away. SILENT SOVEREIGN (1) Second up from a spell. Fought on well to win last start at Caulfield. Could take beating. SELICA (4) Dashed home into 3rd two runs back at Gosford. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Honest enough to be an each way player.
Race 2:
GULF OF SUEZ (2) Thrashed the field when winning two runs back at Morphettville. Expecting to settle positively. Very hard to beat. INGRATIATING (1) Displayed potential when winning three runs back at this course and second up from a break. Will be looking to sit just behind the pace. One of the better chances. FROST FLOWERS (9) Was first to greet the judge when winning two runs back at this course. Will give a big sight. GREAVES (6) 2yo by Stratum Star having first start for trainer Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes. Worth a lot of thought in this race.
Race 3:
REGARDSMAREE (9) Had a comfortable win last time at Caulfield and likely to race off the speed. Deserves respect. BUFFALO RIVER (2) Overrun late when 3rd last time at Sandown and expecting to settle positively. Key player. MORVADA (7) Having second run back from a break. Placed 2nd two runs back at this course and should come to hand quickly. Could go well. NEVER AGAIN (8) Really dug deep when winning two runs back around here and carrying less weight this time. Going well this preparation winning 2 from 4 attempts. One for the exotics punters.
Race 4:
COOLTH (8) Got the prize when winning last time at this course. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Strongly consider. TAKUMI (4) Bold effort to win last start at Caulfield and can find a nice position from the draw. Going well this campaign. Can’t knock. WAR CRITIC (10) Brave effort to win last time at Caulfield and carrying less weight this time. Tracking very well this preparation. Warrants a bet. FIVE KINGDOM (5) Couldn’t keep the pace going when 3rd last time at Caulfield and dropping weight today. Should race on the speed. Has some strong credentials in this race.
Race 5:
ZOU DANCER (4) Did enough to win last run at this course and let up. Very tidy this preparation winning 2 from 3 starts. Looks a winning hope. ISLAND JOY (2) Pulled away to win last run at this venue but bit of extra work to do with more weight today. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. Can have an impact. PERSONAL (1) Scored a victory last start at this venue but fresh from a break. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Gets a chance to win. VESPERTINE (3) Handy enough when winning last start at Caulfield but facing a stronger class. Could run into the money.
Race 6:
MILTON PARK (10) Solid effort when winning last run at Sandown and displays good tactical speed. Flawless this preparation with 2 wins from as many runs. Leading chance. SKY MAN (6) Having second run back from a break. Got going late when 4th last run at this venue and will be trying to topple them late. Winning hope. HIGH ‘N’ DRY (9) Displayed potential when winning two runs back here and gets some weight relief. Very competitive this preparation. Can surprise and by no means out of it. INDEPENDENT ROAD (11) Brave effort to win three runs back at this track and suited by the weight drop. Likely to be well placed early. Looks a good chance of finishing in the money.
Race 7:
AYSAR (9) Having second run back from a break. Competitive effort when 2nd last start at Caulfield and should race just behind the speed. Will give a big sight. TAGALOA (1) Generally strong second up with 2 wins from 3 attempts. Came in 3rd last start at Caulfield and gets the perfect gate. Market may be ultimate guide. AIM (4) Did a good job when winning last time at Gold Coast and should get going late. Must come into consideration. BRANDO (6) Landed the spoils when winning two runs back at Ellerslie. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Maybe for the trifectas and a marginal hope.
Race 8:
BIVOUAC (2) Back after spell. Comprehensive victory when winning last start around here. Hard to beat. NATURE STRIP (1) Set a strong tempo when 2nd last start at this course and should jump out and bowl along. Hard to hold out. SEPTEMBER RUN (7) Was first to greet the judge when winning last time at the track but resumes after a break. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Winning hope. ELITE STREET (3) First run back from a break. Fought on well to win last start at Ascot and hard to fault at this trip. Has to be strongly considered.
Race 9:
ZAKAT (7) Couldn’t shake them off when 3rd last start at Rosehill but resuming. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Should go close. PLATINI (10) Winner last start here and third up from a spell. Looks very sharp this campaign with 2 wins from 2 starts. Must respect in this event. LAVERROD (2) Finished 3rd two runs back at Ascot and shows good early pace. One of the major hopes. TERBIUM (4) Had a comfortable win three runs back at Gawler and dropping weight today. Warrants a bet.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
SPEED: 5 looks the leader. 4, 8, 3 can go forward but doubt they want the lead. SILENT SOVEREIGN was a very good winner fresh, running down BRAZEN SONG with MAXIMAK a solid fifth after racing in limited room. Silent Sovereign won second up last prep (but that was 1800m), running by SELICA with REALM OF FLOWERS running on nicely late behind them. Selica is having trouble with change-up speed this prep. Realm of Flowers could have trialled better. All GOOD AND PROPER’s dry form is very good. NECESSARY won well latest. QUANTUM MECHANIC gets weight relief now. WHITE HIBISCUS’s best is very good!
Selections: 8. Quantum Mechanic (top tip), 1. Silent Sovereign, 4. Selica, 9. White Hibiscus
Race 2:
Nothing I would mark as outstanding from trials/jumpouts from the debutants but a few of them have shown ample ability! Of the raced: GULF OF SUEZ was caught very wide in Preview and kept closing behind General Beau, who of course then won again. INGRATIATING beat General Beau on debut then chased the Blue Diamond fave in Enthaar. They ran some slick closing fractions in that race (off a slow speed). FROST FLOWERS rated highly here on debut then was down a bit around Caulfield second go. She can hit back! SPICY was fave on debut but lame. She beat GREAVES in a jumpout 5/2 but both went well.
Selections: 2. Gulf Of Suez (top tip), 1. Ingratiating, 9. Frost Flowers, 11. Spicy
Race 3:
SPEED 2 & 7. NEUFBOSC is a good horse but six weeks off back to 1400m? BUFFALO RIVER resumes. It took a good one to run him down fresh last prep (Windstorm) and he looked to jump out very well (for him) on Friday. REGARDSMAREE is off back-to-back dominant wins. His time last week was only 3L off the Group 1 Orr on the day (off an identical first 800m) but his last 200m of 11.44 was the fastest of any horse all day outside the G2 sprint (Rubiton Stakes). IRISH FLAME is a ripper. We know WIDGEE TURF is a group horse on his day. MORVADA is fitter now. NEVER AGAIN had excuses last time.
Selections: 9. Regardsmaree (top tip), 2. Buffalo River, 7. Morvada, 5. Widgee Turf
Race 4:
SPEED: 1 & 3 likely positive here. 7 has led his last two with mixed success. 9 goes forward. 4, 5, 11 can be handy also. COOLTH beat a good field here last time with blinkers on. One he ran by was TAKUMI, who then won well himself. The race rated highly and he stays down in the weights. WAR CRITIC ran the 1800m out strongly to score last start, beating Hasseltoff. That horse beat home Coolth prior so that ties in nicely. DIPLOMAC JACK with no weight is in the mix. CAFFREY and FIVE KINGDOM try 2000m for the first time. Expect better from RUNAWAY after big trial win?
Selections: 8. Coolth (Best of the Day), 10. War Critic, 9. Diplomac Jack, 11. Caffrey
Race 5:
SPEED: 9 looks leader from 4 and 2? PERSONAL resumes and is the class here! On ratings she should be giving 10kg+ to all of her rivals. She trialled well enough. In that heat ZOU DANCER did run by her and I suspect she is pretty smart. She ran very good time winning here eight weeks back. THUNDER PEAK was behind her that day running on nicely. She then went to Lakeside, sat wide and won a BM64. STARELLE was sound in that Personal/Zou Dancer trial. VESPERTINE won well last time and form through Bella Tiara ties in with Zou Dancer. ISLAND JOY impressed last time and jumped out well Friday
Selections: 4. Zou Dancer (top tip), 1. Personal, 2. Island Joy, 3. Vespertine
Race 6:
SPEED: 10, 3, 4 with 5, 1 capable of being right there also. Can make a case for all 11 of these. HEAVENLY EMPEROR back to 1600m. DADOOZDART nice work very late fresh, was 2.4L off Probabeel second up last prep. HOLBIEN was excellent latest on hot speed in worst ground. POLANCO’s form ties in. RULE THE WORLD was nutted by Viral here and beat home SKYMAN, who was very good late. STRATEGIC PHIL has Viral form. KING MAGNUS has Rule The World form. HIGH ‘N’ DRY gets back on to dry. 3YO MILTON PARK is running time: first go 1600m? INDEPENDENT ROAD was good last time and is a better horse at Flem.
Selections: 2. Dadoozdart (value bet), 6. Skyman, 3. Holbien, 10. Milton Park
Race 7:
SPEED: 14 leads 3, 11, 1 & 12? TAGALOA was wide fresh with big weight and very ”colty” pre-race by all reports. Given all that, he’s run enormous. AYSAR was solid. CHERRY TORTONI was very good versus race-shape fresh last prep here behind Crosshaven and ran by Russian Camelot in a trial on Monday. AIM was too good for Amish Boy on to dry ground on Gold Coast. That form ties him in. Like the fact he ran home quicker than quality older horses like Eleven Eleven on the day (same trip). BRANDO goes well but back to 1400m? EMBOLISM, CAMBOURNE jumped out well. GRANDSLAM went up $61. That is crazy!
Selections: 4. Aim (top tip), 11. Grandslam, 2. Cherry Tortoni, 1. Tagaloa
Race 8:
Speed looks red hot! BIVOUAC resumes and his sole straight-track defeat was an excellent second in the Group 1 Coolmore in fast time as a three-year-old. He sailed by NATURE STRIP in the VRC Classic at the end of last prep and chased that horse in a recent trial: they both went enormous! Nature Strip has been vulnerable (read: beaten at short quote) fresh his last couple but I suspect he will be close to the mark today with something to prove! SEPTEMBER RUN won last year’s Coolmore and she ran terrific time/splits. PIPPIE beat Bivouac in Oakleigh Plate fresh last year (meets 1.5kg worse).
Selections: 2. Bivouac (top tip), 1. Nature Strip, 7. September Run, 5. Pippie
Race 9:
MILWAUKEE wasn’t beaten far in the Kensington Stakes her fresh. His record here up the straight on dry ground is exceptional. LAVERROD resumes and makes his Victorian debut. He was 1.7L off Indian Pacific fresh last prep in fast time then beat Celebrity Queen. His jumpout here last Friday looked terrific. ZAKAT resumes, love the way he hit the line in Sydney trial under no riding. He ran very well fresh last prep with 60kg then beat Icebath. Last chance TERBIUM (ride off speed here?). RUBAN BLEU is going well. So too PLATINI. IMPI easily beat I’M TELLING YA fresh 28/9/19.
Selections: 7. Zakat (top tip), 2. Laverrod, 1. Milwaukee, 4. Terbium
Race 1:
4. Selica, 8. Quantum Mechanic, 1. Silent Sovereign, 9. White Hibiscus
Race 2:
1. Ingratiating, 9. Frost Flowers, 2. Gulf Of Suez, 6. Greaves
Race 3:
9. Regardsmaree, 2. Buffalo River, 7. Morvada, 1. Neufbosc
Race 4:
8. Coolth, 4. Takumi, 5. Five Kingdom, 10. War Critic
Race 5:
4. Zou Dancer, 7. Thunder Peak, 1. Personal, 3. Vespertine
Race 6:
6. Skyman, 11. Independent Road, 10. Milton Park, 9. High ‘n’ Dry
Race 7:
13. Cambourne, 9. Aysar, 6. Brando, 8. Embolism
Race 8:
2. Bivouac, 1. Nature Strip, 5. Pippie, 6. Fabergino
Race 9:
2. Laverrod, 5. Ruban Bleu, 7. Zakat, 10. Platini
Race 2: Gulf Of Suez (4.20)
Unibet – Fletch, Junior & Jack:
Race 7:
Jack’s Tip: Grandslam (41.00)
Junior’s Tip: Cherry Tortini (14.00, 4.20) (each way)
Race 8:
Junior’s Tip: Bivouac (2.90)
Jack’s Tip: Pippie (9.00)
Unibet – From the Trader’s Desk:
Race 8 #7 September Run (5.50)
Race 7: Here To Shock (9.00)
Race 8: Nature Strip (3.90)
Race 9: Laverrod (4.40)
Randwick
Race 7: 1 – Verry Elleegant (3.70) , 2 – Kolding (4.80), 3 – Funstar (4.80)
Race 1:
KISS THE BRIDE (1) Honest race when 3rd last run here but hoping that the added weight won’t hurt. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. No surprise to see a win. HARPO MARX (3) Game effort to win two runs back at Rosehill. Tracking very well this preparation. Very hard to beat. KAAPFEVER (4) Produced an eye catching run when 3rd last time at Warwick Farm but rises in weight. Will be trying to topple them late. Strong chance. POWER OF ATTORNEY (7) Fought on gamely when winning three runs back at this venue and goes down in class. A win wouldn’t surprise.
Race 2:
STAY INSIDE (1) Showed promise when winning last start at the track and having second career run. Looks a winning hope. HEADLINER (12) Caught the eye when 2nd last run at this venue and having second race start. Could sneak a place. VIANELLO (14) Displayed potential when winning three runs back at Newcastle and dropping in class. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Not the worst in this field. TOTAL BABE (13) Was strong on the speed before fading to finish 2nd last start at Rosehill and should jump out and bowl along. Good prospect for the exotics at least.
Race 3:
IF YOU THINK SO (4) Made a mess of them when winning last start at Rosehill. Should muster plenty of early speed. Contender. LAMINGTON DRIVE (2) Was fighting out the finish when winning last start at Canberra but racing in stronger company today. Chance to break through and a could give a show. BIRDONAWINNINGPOST (7) Had a comfortable win two runs back at Muswellbrook and will benefit with the weight drop. Should be very competitive and is a genuine threat. DEADLY IMPACT (1) Looked good when 2nd three runs back at Rosehill and goes down in weight. Won’t be far away and represents an each way player.
Race 4:
TAILLEUR (6) Third up today. Shot away to win last start at Rosehill and goes down in weight. Going good enough to win this and a clear top pick. MADAM ROUGE (1) Fought on gamely when winning last start at Caulfield and has a nice turn of foot. One of the major hopes. ICEBATH (2) Won by a huge margin two runs back at this track and will be trying to topple them late. Exotics chance. REELEM IN RUBY (3) Chimed in with a win three runs back at Rosehill but resuming. Should be swooping on the field late. Sound chances.
Race 5:
CANASTA (8) Kicked clear when winning last time at Rosehill and shows good early pace. Live winning chance. MOHICAN HEIGHTS (7) Strong record when resuming with 2 wins from 4 runs. Honest race when 3rd three runs back at Ascot and first start for a new trainer Chris Waller. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value. SOLDIER OF LOVE (1) Got the upper hand late when winning last run at this venue. Should race on the speed. Maybe for the trifectas and a marginal hope. NEW ARRANGEMENT (5) Chimed in with a win three runs back at this venue but back in trip. Market watch advised.
Race 6:
MASKED CRUSADER (7) Resumes after a spell. Snuck in a place when 3rd two runs back at Rosehill and goes down in weight. Definite claims. STANDOUT (3) Proven record first up. Came on strongly when 2nd two runs back around here and going down in grade. Suitably placed in this race. HIGHTAIL (9) Having third run back from a spell. Started $19 and ended up 2l behind the winner at Gold Coast last time on a good track but gets some weight relief. Could prove to be very difficult to beat. ROHERYN (4) Game effort to win two runs back at Eagle Farm and shows good closing speed. Good prospects.
Race 7:
VERRY ELLEEGANT (6) Got the upper hand late when winning two runs back at Caulfield but resumes after a spell. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Key hope. FUNSTAR (8) Nice run when placing 2nd two runs back around here and should be going forward early. Should be right in the finish. KOLDING (1) Second up from a break. Did enough to win three runs back at this track. Looks promising in this race. DREAMFORCE (2) Game effort to win two runs back here and won’t be far away during the run. Big danger.
Race 8:
AWAY GAME (1) Third up today. Displayed good finishing speed when 3rd last time at Gold Coast but facing a stronger grade today. Good enough for this and worth a bet. HUNGRY HEART (3) Flashed home late into 2nd two runs back around here and likely to race off the speed. The one they all have to beat. VANGELIC (4) Although slipping back still finished 3rd two runs back at the track but resuming from break. Has shown early pace in races to date. Could run into the money. THERMOSPHERE (5) Produced an eye catching run when 3rd last start at Rosehill and gets a nice run behind the speed. Each way hope.
Race 9:
SUBEDAR (8) Having second run back from a break. Flashed home late into 2nd last start around here and possesses good finishing speed. Will give a strong sight. THY KINGDOM COME (1) Having third run back from a break. Made considerable ground when 3rd last run here but carrying more weight than last time. Winning hope. ACADEMY (3) Second up from a spell. Really dug deep when winning two runs back at this course. Could be value. YAMAZAKI (9) Out of character when 14th at Gold Coast but third up from a break. Does take a while to get into stride. At least a place chance.
Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
Randwick rated Soft 5 midweek and there looks to be a chance of showers on Friday to perhaps keep it (just) in the Soft range. Comfortable with this preview on anything rated 4/5/6. Rail out 6 metres. KISS THE BRIDE drops down in grade and rises 3 kilos. He’s just about there to win something like this over the 2400m, a trip he has only tried twice but already to success. The application of hoof filler may be worth noting for some. HARPO MARX has been too honest of late to take any great risks with. ACCOUNTABILITY may be seen to have peaked already this prep but there is a thought (from jockeys) that 2400m will suit.
Selections: 1. Kiss The Bride (top tip), 3. Harpo Marx, 2. Accountability, 4. Kaapfever
Race 2:
A bit of a mixed bag here. 8 colts, 6 fillies. Three winners. At least all have had a run. ROBODIRA can set up nicely in run and has had two trials, just like before she won on debut. Expecting more from EMERALD BAY. She was much respected at her first start but was caught without cover. Drawn out here too but a recent trial shows she has the speed to burn across. Stablemate TOTAL BABE has as much race experience as any here and has been sound each time. That ties in VIANELLO as well. STAY INSIDE was $12 to $7 before the debut and he was dominant. Form from the race hasn’t been amazing but he did thrash them.
Selections: 9. Robodira (top tip – SCRATCHED), 13. Total Babe, 1. Stay Inside, 11. Emerald Bay
Race 3:
A typically tricky Highway, this one out over 1800m. BIRDONAWINNINGPOST should have finished lengths closer at Gosford and rising back up to this trip could help. Leaning her way but can’t say I’m too enthused about the race. IF YOU THINK SO produced an amazing win a fortnight ago and now has the challenge to back it up. 1500 to 1800m and onto a bit drier but she can have the front again here by the looks so inclined to respect to some degree.
Selections: 7. Birdonawinningpost (top tip), 10. Will To Excel, 9. Vaquero, 4. If You Think So
Race 4:
An enticing group of mares here, most of them resuming. Speed to come from 6 and 8 and that’s about it. TAILLEUR has the race fitness on board and was as good last start as she had promised to be. Clearly comfortable on all conditions and she has been back to trial again, just as she did before that latest win. ICEBATH had a pretty awesome prep last time aroundHer race positioning has always been an issue and she has been well back in her two recent trials as well. A 3rd to Prime Star first-up was a good way for ELECTRIC GIRL to start last prep and she is in the mix here as well. TRICKY GAL unbeaten fresh.
Selections: 6. Tailleur (Best of the Day), 8. Electric Girl, 5. Tricky Gal, 2. Icebath
Race 5:
Pace from 1 and 8 primarily but MISSYBEEL always capable of showing speed on her day if she jumps clean. Falling into Waller’s trio here. Much interest here in the first Australian run of MOHICAN HEIGHTS. Just one trial but it was a very good one, attacking the line strongly behind Peltzer. Betting to tell us about expectations I guess but I dare say he will be given plenty of respect. NEW ARRANGEMENT continues to race well but reverts to 1600m. Drawn to see his chance though. YONKERS can slip into gear pretty quickly and won’t surprise if he can offer plenty. 2nd-up record is impressive.
Selections: 7. Mohican Heights (top tip), 5. New Arrangement, 3. Yonkers, 12. Cisco Bay
Race 6:
Good race but there’s a real lack of speed engaged. You know that’s true when you find yourself looking at ALBUMIN up and down and wondering ‘are you the leader??’. Of course MASKED CRUSADER led throughout in a mid January trial and that may well be his plan from out wide. For the most part though, in his races, he hasn’t been wonderful at the getaway. I’m turning to VICTOREM as a genuine winning chance. Trials have been solid and he will be up near the speed and bringing a good overall fresh record. STANDOUT was within 2L of Classique Legend first-up last prep and that may be good enough to win this.
Selections: 1. Victorem (top tip), 3. Standout, 4. Roheryn, 7. Masked Crusader
Race 7:
A Group One field assembled for this Group Two. DREAMFORCE the obvious leader with KOLDING set to stalk close. All of the others prefer to do their work from off the pace. KOLDING will feel the benefit of a 1200m run under his belt and this looks the obvious suitable next step for a genuine high grade horse. VERRY ELLEEGANT notched her first fresh win last prep and put down the best campaign of her career. There is no reason not to expect her to be there in the finish. DREAMFORCE not nearly as talented as that mare but he can largely control the tempo here. MUGATOO has started both Australian campaigns wonderfully.
Selections: 1. Kolding (top tip), 6. Verry Elleegant, 2. Dreamforce, 4. Mugatoo
Race 8:
AWAY GAME was an outstanding 2YO and her return runs indicate she is the same high grade and hardy filly she always has been. Drawn to see gun run here with Bowman first time. KAHMA LASS a G1 winner in NZ and from a stable that we always respect when they cross the Tasman Sea. HUNGRY HEART has trialled very positively. Could this be her peak preparation. Still just that win for her but she very nearly landed a G1 win last prep. A mile will presumably be her peak trip but her 1200m runs have been solid as. VANGELIC could kick on better than a few suspect.
Selections: 1. Away Game (top tip), 3. Hungry Heart, 2. Kahma Lass, 4. Vangelic
Race 9:
ACCESSION an early scratching. 10, 13, 14, 15 and 16 remained dual acceptors at preview time. Speed from LINA’S HERO (she led and won a recent trial x 8L). CLIFF’S ART was close-up in her latest as well. ACADEMY can cross handy. SUBEDAR was excellent closing out from a long way back resuming off a very long break. 5 weeks since and he has been back to have a quiet trial. Interesting to see him edge back very slightly in trip here. LINA’S HERO’s latest Australian was a BM64 win at Sale. Runner-up there was Mighty Boss who won a Caulfield Guineas about 6 weeks later. That recent trial will have him strong in the market here.
Selections: 8. Subedar (value bet), 6. Lina’s Hero, 1. Thy Kingdom Come, 3. Academy
