ANNAVISTO (8) Having third run back from a spell. Scored a victory two runs back at Pakenham but facing a stronger class. Has plenty of claims. MOZZIE MONSTER (7) Made up ground when 5th last run at Flemington and can go through the gears. Could work into the placings. PALACE WHISPER (9) Brave effort to win last run at Sandown but up in class. Going well this campaign. Use betting as best guide.

Race 7:
SPEED: 1 may lead 2,3,11 but others can be handy! MOZZIE MONSTER found the 1100m too sharp fresh but her late splits were good, she won here at start two then ran well in a Jim Moloney Stks at 1400m. ANNAVISTO beat herself at Flemington! If she can settle early she will take beating here. REDEEEL impressed fresh and was not far off Mozzie monster in that Jim Moloney Stks. Liked the PALACE WHISPER wins her last two and beating Agreeable latest does tie her in. MILITARY PARADE creates interest. SEB SONG jumped out OK.
Selections: 7. Mozzie Monster (Top Tip), 8. Annavisto, 9. Palace Whisper, 10. Redeel
Race 8:
SPEED: 5, 12, add 17, 19 if get in. 3, 7, 14 handy. ROCK was outstanding fresh running fastest last 600m all day. he’s unbeaten second up and won Cameron Hcp second up last prep easily on soft 5. Doubt wants track much worse, draws out. THE CANDY MAN was 4.8L behind Rock in that Cameron second up last prep but covered ground. Wet helps. ALL TOO HUIYING led/won Seymour Cup fresh last prep at 1600m. PLATOON took on the wrong race last time but ran day’s fastest last 200m at Flem prior. VASSILATOR improves ridden colder. KENYA looked super winning at Mornington fresh in spring. HI STRANGER looked great at Echuca. IRONCLAD measures up!

ANOTHER AWARD (4) Did its best work late when 2nd two runs back at Murray Bridge and will be aiming for a soft run from the draw. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. Key hope. PERFECT WORLD (7) Thrashed the field when winning two runs back at Sale and looks well placed in this grade. Displays good closing speed. Among the major players. SCREAM DREAM (5) Bold effort to win last time at Pakenham and can find a nice position from the draw. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Include in all exotics.
Race 7: Humma Humma

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 7:
HUMMA HUMMA ran home well to finish a close third to Fabergino when resuming at Flemington. She can only be further improved and Jamie Mott goes onboard. LYRE was narrowly beaten by Diamond Effort in a group 3 race at Caulfield first up last time in work. LI’L KONTRA kicked off her last campaign with a win. She has trialled well leading into this. There were some excuses for lightly raced filly PINKHAM at Flemington at her second run back from a spell. Forgive that and go on her good run first up. ELDERFLOWER, MILEVA and GARNER are others worth considering.
Selections: 5. Humma Humma (Best of the Day), 1. Lyre, 8. Li’l Kontra, 16. Pinkham
Race 8:
VICTORIA QUAY tired late in the Morphettville Guineas first up. She’ll be fitter again but has to carry topweight of 59kg under these conditions. SCREAM DREAM made it two wins on the trot with an easy victory at Pakenham a fortnight ago. She’s bred to appreciate the longer trip. ECUMENICAL can improve with a run under her belt. She has won twice on this track and ran a top race in the 1000 Guineas over this distance last preparation. BIARCHI will strip fitter for two runs back from a spell and gets out to a more suitable trip today. ANOTHER AWARD and VALANETTI are others to consider.

Better claims. PRIVATE EYE (5) Displayed potential when winning last time at this venue but resumes after a spell. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Leading chance. DOUBTLAND (2) Second up. Competitive effort when 3rd three runs back at Randwick. Solid place bet prospects.
Race 2:
SACRAMENTO (7) Did enough to win two runs back at this track. Expecting to settle positively. Has to be included. COLLIDE (8) Having second run back from a break. Caught the eye when 3rd last run at Randwick. Suitably placed in this race. FAVORITE MOON (13) Pulled away to win two runs back at Haydock Park but back after break. Will be looking to sit just behind the leaders. Can go on with it. DADOOZDART (10) Kept finding the line when 2nd last start at Canberra. Stays under notice.
Race 3:
SHE’S IDEEL (7) Strong form third up winning 2 from 3 starts. Showed a good turn of foot when 2nd last start at Randwick and expected to be flashing home. Winning chance in this line up. ICEBATH (16) Honest race when 3rd two runs back at Randwick and looks well graded. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Among the major players. POLLY GREY (5) Rocketed home into 3rd two runs back at this track and third up today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Expected to fight out the finish. WELSH LEGEND (11) Displayed potential when winning last run here and dropping weight today. Rates an each way chance.
Race 4:
ADDEYBB (1) Resuming after a break. Got the prize when winning last run at Ascot. On top. VERRY ELLEEGANT (6) Third up specialist with 4 wins from 5 attempts. Brave effort to win last run at Randwick and expected to be flashing home. Rates well and should be taken seriously. COLETTE (7) Showed promise when winning three runs back at Randwick but facing a stronger class. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Has the ability to figure. SIR DRAGONET (2) Finished over 7L from the winner at Moonee Valley last time on a heavy surface and prefers to settle towards the tail. Strong each way hope.
Race 5:
MO’UNGA (3) Made considerable ground when 2nd last time at Randwick and always seems to find the line well. Could take beating. MONTEFILIA (15) Having second run back from a spell. Landed the spoils when winning three runs back at Randwick but faces a rise in trip. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Respect against this field. GRANDSLAM (5) Shot clear to win last start at Moonee Valley but racing in stronger company. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Market may be ultimate guide. LION’S ROAR (1) Third up from a break. Solid win last start at Randwick. Market watch advised and can run into the money.
Race 6:
AVILIUS (2) Kept finding the line when 3rd last run at Randwick and expected to be flashing home. Live winning chance. FUNSTAR (13) At $15 ran 4th last time at Randwick. Looking for an improved run and shows good early pace. Open to improvement and has a show in this field. KOLDING (1) Honest race when 2nd two runs back at Randwick and will be positive in the run early. Very competitive this preparation. Key player. DREAMFORCE (3) Having second run back from a break. Fought on well to win three runs back at Randwick and should come to hand quickly. Wouldn’t leave out of multiples.
Race 7:
PROFITEER (2) Kicked clear when winning two runs back at Randwick but racing in stronger company today. Should be going forward early. Appears well in this. STAY INSIDE (8) Had a comfortable win two runs back at Randwick but facing a stronger grade today. Going well this preparation winning 2 from 3 starts. Will be in the finish. FOUR MOVES AHEAD (13) Brave effort to win last start at Randwick but up in class. Strong form this preparation winning 2 from as many attempts. Among better hopes. ARTORIUS (3) Left nothing to chance when winning last start at Caulfield. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Solid each way claims.
Race 8:
HAUT BRION HER (4) First up specialist with 2 wins from 3 runs. Charged home into 2nd last time at this course and expecting to settle positively. Include in all exotics. TAILLEUR (12) Let up. Was fighting out the finish when winning last run at Randwick and easy to come into at this distance. Appears well in this. EDUARDO (1) Having second run back from a spell. Game effort to win last run at Randwick. Should muster plenty of early speed. Leading chance. WILD RULER (13) Having second run back from a break. Left nothing to chance when winning last run at Randwick and displays good tactical speed. This field suits.
Race 9:
EMANATE (12) Gave them a lesson when winning two runs back at the track. Likely threat. WRITTEN BEAUTY (6) Finished on top two runs back at Randwick and having third run back from a spell. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. No shock to see a win. EVERY ROSE (5) Fought on well to win two runs back at Randwick and should come to hand quickly. Can’t knock. WANDABAA (4) Generally strong second up with 2 wins from 3 runs. Displayed good finishing speed when 2nd three runs back at Randwick and ideal distance as proven previously. Stays under notice.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
This great card of racing has had to be patient, and so of course have we. More than a foot of rain over the last week means a Heavy 10 rating as of Wednesday and improvement steadily from there. Happily, the outlook to the weekend is bright so those puddles will dry up and all will be fine for raceday. Here’s my prediction – 9 on Thursday, 8 on Friday, 7 on Saturday morning. Rail out 3 metres. The first is a good field of 3YOs and there are a few interesting additions to last week’s field. Speed looks reasonable. BELLA NIPOTINA and PRAGUE have kicked up in the past and may do again? I’ll have ANDERMATT on the up. ISOTOPE has beaten Wild Ruler, Away Game etc…
Selections: 11. Andermatt (Top Tip), 6. Isotope, 5. Private Eye, 1. Prague
Race 2:
3 and 4 to lead 9 and 2. Without any concrete evidence that SACRAMENTO is a wet track duffer I’m happy to back up with him here. A defeat to Mount Popa giving that horse a bit of weight is just further evidence he is holding up in great form at the moment. The only time he has seen Heavy was a respectable 5th in last year’s Derby and he is well proven on anything on the better side. COLLIDE peaking and through the Mount Popa race as well. Last week’s Mornington Cup suggests it’s the right form but imports like FAVORITE MOON and NICKAJACK CAVE (with a defeat over Twilight Payment two back) could prove that assertion misguided.
Selections: 7. Sacramento (Top Tip), 8. Collide, 2. Raheen House, 13. Favorite Moon
Race 3:
After what MISSYBEEL did last start we fully expect she will be pressing on again. 10, 9, 15, 12, 13 all search for handy spots. The addition of ICEBATH to this week’s entries has me going her way. Respectable in the Coolmore and a switch from Good 3 to something much more to her liking can be very suitable. Obviously the distance is new territory for her and from this draw she might settle a long way back, but I expect her to wind up strongly. SHE’S IDEEL and POLLY GREY are accomplished wet-trackers well poised 3rd-up rising to the suitable 1900m, though IDEEL drew better last week I reckon.
Selections: 16. Icebath (Value Bet), 5. Polly Grey, 7. She’s Ideel, 4. Aliferous
Race 4:
Last week’s Ranvet looked very thin but a couple of key additions here add to the interest and we can call it a ‘two horse race’ no more. We all like and admire VERRY ELLEEGANT’s willingness to scrap and she’ll have to do that again here. ADDEYBB is back to keep his Australian record intact and of course this time last year he met and beat VERRY twice, including in this race off a similar break. COLETTE was only beaten 1L last time but I thought her a bit plain. Back onto rain-affected helps her no doubt. She matched it well with the Waller mare prior, on Soft going. SIR DRAGONET also suited by the give, if he’s at his best.
Selections: 1. Addeybb (Top Tip), 6. Verry Elleegant, 3. Master Of Wine, 7. Colette
Race 5:
GRANDSLAM the key addition to this week’s Guineas and he will add plenty of speed. The key leadup at Randwick was on Good going and this promises to be very different but both MO’UNGA (who was clearly a luckless runner-up) and LION’S ROAR won their debuts on Heavy so there is real expectation that they will cope with improving conditions here. Add to the mix lone filly MONTEFILIA who had no issue with heavy winter going last year and whose return – despite her being strongly backed into $6 – was every bit as good as many expected and a great return for something like this. Absolutely she can win. KHOEKHOE worth some thought as well. Handles soft and returned nicely.
Selections: 3. Mo’unga (Top Tip), 1. Lion’s Roar, 15. Montefilia, 8. Khoekhoe
Race 6:
DREAMFORCE and SAMADOUBT can lead out. 1 and 12 sit up handy. A very intriguing race on an improving surface. Some of the better chances need to really jog the memory to remember their latest win. FUNSTAR among that group. She’s been something of a bridesmaid over the last 12 months (beaten favourite five times) but she can sit handy and fight on, as she did in the Chipping Norton. AVILIUS was tremendous there too, on return. Is this the one that breaks his losing run? I’d be happy to see it. MIZZY has hit her straps beautifully but her wet track runs are a long time ago. DAWN PASSAGE can lift here, which he needs to.
Selections: 2. Avilius (Top Tip), 13. Funstar, 10. Dawn Passage, 8. Cascadian
Race 7:
The scratching of O’PRESIDENT leaves the lead to PROFITEER with 12 and 1 crossing prominent. I’m with STAY INSIDE, a colt that raced away on Soft 7 two back then simply got too far back and had limited room last start behind ANAMOE/PROFITEER. I see things coming together better for him in the run today. He has many of the ‘form factors’ of the majority of Slipper winners but a key one that he doesn’t have worries me a bit – the latest 13 winners have either run 1st or 2nd at their final lead-up. FOUR MOVES AHEAD might be a touch further back than she has been in her two wins but her ability to handle wet is a positive. ANAMOE, ARTORIUS and PROFITEER (particularly) are easy to find on form but strike ground damper than what they’ve experienced.
Selections: 8. Stay Inside (Top Tip), 13. Four Moves Ahead, 2. Profiteer, 3. Artorius
Race 8:
EDUARDO is super speedy and can hold all others at bay. Performed really well on wet through last winter and a ‘fair and square’ defeat of Nature Strip coming in is not to be sneezed at. That said, I am willing to choose the mare TAILLEUR down the bottom with a seven kilo pull on the toppie. Can see her getting a gun trail and we know that while she revels on wet she doesn’t necessarily need it to be at her best. Presume she takes this option? BELLA VELLA is a G1 winner on Soft 7 and has a chance to place. JUNGLE EDGE ever-popular and the most renowned mudlark in the country and he can’t really take a trick with the tracks of late.
Selections: 12. Tailleur (Best of the Day), 1. Eduardo, 2. Dirty Work, 10. Bella Vella
Race 9:
Solid speed from 3 and 5. 12 and 10 to trail in behind. I’ll be backing TAILLEUR wherever she ends up today. No signs of that decision at preview time but perhaps the low weight in the G1 is just as tempting as the clear topweight against this good bunch of girls. The inclusion of WANDABAA in this week’s edition has me very interested. Is the wide draw actually a positive at this stage of the day? EVERY ROSE beat home Hungry Heart last start and wasn’t far from Vangelic (who should have gone close to winning a G1 since). WRITTEN BEAUTY was a letdown (for me) last start. Onto Soft? Maybe??
Selections: 4. Wandabaa (Top Tip), 3. Vulpine, 5. Every Rose, 6. Written Beauty
