Unibet – From the Trader’s Desk:
Race 5 #1 Immortal Love (12.00)
Race 6 #6 Alfa Oro (2.90) – BEST BET
Race 1:
VONGOLE (11) Good run when placing 3rd last time at Moonee Valley and displays good finishing speed. Expected to fight out the finish. PESTO (7) Had a break from racing and returns to competition. Did well when 2nd last time at Navan and now racing for a new trainer Michael, Wayne And John Hawkes. Will be looking to sit just behind the pace. One of the main dangers. MUSIC ADDITION (2) Finished 2nd last run at Mornington and should come to hand quickly. Don’t leave out of trifectas. AKECHETA (12) Chimed in with a win last start at Pakenham but up against stronger competition today. Expecting to settle positively. Looks value and a good place bet.
Race 2:
AGREEABLE (4) Flashed home late into 3rd last start at Sandown and shows good finishing speed. Don’t overlook. INCREDULOUS DREAM (1) Did a good job when winning last time at Mornington and second up. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Leading chance. MELBA STORM (2) Was first to greet the judge when winning last time at Morphettville. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Going well this campaign winning 2 from 3 starts. Should go well. ALWAYS IN MOMENT (10) Having second run back from a spell. Blitzed its rivals when winning last start at Pakenham and goes down in weight. Definite claims.
Race 3:
NAJMATY (8) Chimed in with a win last time at Randwick and having second career run. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Expect a solid run and the one to catch. HUNNAM (2) Having second run back from a spell. Showed a good turn of foot when 3rd two runs back at Rosehill but facing a stronger class today. One of the major players. SLIDERS (6) Fought on well to win three runs back at Newcastle and should muster plenty of early toe. Leading chance. MARINE ONE (1) Back from a let up. Overrun late when 3rd three runs back at Flemington and going down in class. Winnable race.
Race 4:
BLACK PENN (6) Third up from a spell. Pulled away to win two runs back at Pakenham. One of the top hopes. STRUCK BY (1) Got the upper hand late when winning last time at Morphettville and should race on the speed. Going well this preparation. Respect against this field. CAPTAIN SPUD (4) Blitzed its rivals when winning last run at Sale and carrying less weight this time. Likely to be well placed early. Looks set to run a place. IRONEDGE (7) Won narrowly three runs back at Ballarat and will appreciate the drop in weight. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Will be around the mark at odds.
Race 5:
WINSUM (15) Scored a victory last run at Cranbourne and second up from a break. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Could prove to be very difficult to beat. WAR CORRESPONDENT (2) Solid effort when winning last start at Moonee Valley and should race on the speed. Flying this preparation with 3 wins from 3 runs. Can make a claim in this race and is a strong each way hope. VOWMASTER (12) Finished on top three runs back at Moonee Valley and third up today. Will be looking to sit just behind the leaders. Keep it safe and include in any exotic bets. VALAQUENTA (5) Rattled home nicely into 3rd two runs back at this course. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Could be a value selection.
Race 6:
ALFA ORO (6) Proven record first up with 2 wins from 3 attempts. Bold effort to win two runs back at Moonee Valley and displays good tactical speed. Will take beating today. Flashed home late into 3rd two runs back here and strong form at the trip. Deserves consideration. SWORD OF MERCY (4) Ran on strongly when 2nd three runs back at Flemington and going well this campaign. Should just about get the run of the race. Don’t dismiss.
Race 7:
PERSAN (2) Having second run back from a break. Fought on gamely when winning last time at Moonee Valley and should get going late. Ready to win. PLATOON (7) Racing for the second time this week. Charged home into 2nd last time at Bendigo and possesses very good closing speed. Honest enough to be an each way player. LE DON DE VIE (5) Could build on a strong second up record. Worked hard to finish 2nd three runs back at Geelong and shows good early pace. Place wouldn’t shock. HANG MAN (9) Handy enough when winning last run at Yarra Valley and gets some weight relief. Finishes off strongly. Looks a great place bet.
Race 8:
PRETTY BRAZEN (6) Second up from a spell. Couldn’t keep the pace going when 3rd last time at Flemington. Winning hope. RITRATTO (3) Showed promise when winning three runs back at Morphettville but going up in weight. Should jump out and bowl along. Strong claims. SKY MAN (2) Left nothing to chance when winning two runs back at Flemington but has more weight to carry. Could go well.

Race 1:
NOTE; Rail is 6m. Was true here last meeting (20th Feb) and inside lanes were ”off” from very early on. SPEED: 2,4,12,14 can all be right there with 5,6 handy. 1,10 next? MARITANA trialled well before the forgive run fresh and did win well 2nd-up last prep. MUSIC ADDITION beat him home, he just has to tick that 1400m box. BLINDER can win fresh. DARK WANDERER is unbeaten on dry ground in Tassie. LEGIONNAIRE is having trouble accelerating in his races, it’s a problem for him! AMOUNDI BAY can win with luck from gate. AKECHETA measures up. KENT STREET best roughie?
Selections: 12. Akecheta (Top Tip), 5. Legionnaire, 3. Blinder, 1. Maritana
Race 2:
Not sure leader. 3,5,6 and 10 can all go forward, 1 takes trail. INCREDULOUS DREAM jumped out well before beating in-form older mares fresh at M’ton. MELBA STORM beat a good horse in Adelaide last time, she wa snot far off AGREEABLE when they clashed here in a Jim Moloney Stks behind Odeum. Agreeable meets her 2kg better and powered to the line fresh. Three last-start maiden winners down the bottom, they all ran above class average time in said wins. CANADIAN GOLD and ALWAYS IN MOMENT were significantly faster than ave. PRIDE OF JENNI keen/ran on well in jumpout. DIVINE DIOSA & MONTIA hopes.
Selections: 4. Agreeable (Top Tip), 1. Incredulous Dream, 8. Canadian Gold, 2. Melba Storm
Race 3:
Two newbies: Liked HE’S THE ULTIMATE at jump outs. MARINE ONE ran well in a couple of Blue Diamond lead-ups before 8-week freshen, he put himself on-speed in recent jumpout and won very well in blinkers. HUNNAM missed the kick at MV and was badly blocked, in fact, he was only fully clear 25m from the line and powered through the wire. SLIDERS beat him home when they clashed in Sydney last Spring, she just ran well in a Slipper lead-up at Randwick. NAJMATY was back/ wide Kenso on debut yet ran over them anyway! Big win. R-up then won $200k Wellington Boot. BUTTER BLONDE had excuses only fail
Selections: 1. Marine One (Top Tip), 8. Najmaty, 2. Hunnam, 6. Sliders
Race 4:
SPEED looks good: 1,3,4,9,11 can all be right up there. 2,5,12,13,14,15,16 can all be handy! STRUCK BY is flying and comes off Listed win over Milton Park (who had just run well in G2 here) at his first go 1600m. Filly TYCHE GODDESS ran well behind promising one (ran R1 today) fresh and did place in a Wakeful. SALTPETER covered ground MV on tough day to do same, he was on heels of Annavisto prior. BLACK PENN rushed late in M’ton Guineas 2nd-up. IRONEDGE has a case. WANALIRRI attacked the line in Alex Stks against inside bias at her first go 1600m. RIPPER RITA heads stack of other hopes.
Selections: 6. Black Penn (Top Tip), 10. Wanalirri, 1. Struck By, 3. Celestial Sol
Race 5:
Good race but impossible! Speed looks strong. IMMORTAL LOVE chased Alfa Oro in recent jumpout and did beat Tagaloa in McNeil Stks here fresh in Spring. WAR CORRESPONDENT found best ground but was tough beating SNAPPER, RIVER TWAIN and the luckless VALAQUENTA. They all drop back to 1100m. MINHAAJ was 1.1L 3rd to September Run fresh in Sept then beat Valaquenta. Jump out: Good! CAPRICCIO beat River Twain (ties in) and Bella Nipotina (placed to Isotope last week R’hil) at Flem. AQUAGIRL has placed to Bella Nipotona and RIVER NIGHT in Quezette Stks. Convinced VOWMASTER is a good horse! So too WINSUM
Selections: 4. Minhaaj (Top Tip), 12. Vowmaster, 1. Immortal Love, 5. Valaquenta
Race 6:
10 leader frm 6,1,8,3 & 4? DIAMOND EFFORT resumes, trialled well and beat a good field here in slick time fresh last prep then was luckless in a G1 Moir. She sat 3-wide when pipped by Dirty Work in Schillaci beating home OCTANE narrowly. Octane has 6.5kg swing this scale and he too jumped out well. ALFA ORO also resumes, he also jumped out well, he had a crack at the ”elites” at end of last prep in Caul Sprint and held 4th despite pulling up lame. 2nd was Fabergino. BROADWAYANDFOURTH my best roughie. SWORD OF MERCY has run well to Octane and Fabergino. SATORIAL SPLENDOR with 51kg is dangerous!
Selections: 6. Alfa Oro (Top Tip), 5. Octane, 1. Diamond Effort, 4. Sword Of Mercy
Race 7:
SPEED: 10,12,5 go forward. 3,2 can be handy. PERSAN was a terrific return winner and just never runs poorly! Gate? HARLEM didn’t have much room in an Aust Cup, he was close-up in Peter Young Stks prior with bit against him. HANG MAN ran well that same day to Defibrillate and races rated similarly (also Defibrillate form ties in) but he draws wide. MAHAMEDEIS looked ready to win before Albury miss. AMADE is off long break but trialled well. PLATOON was terrific last week, if he runs strong 2000m he probably wins!
Selections: 3. Harlem (Value Bet), 2. Persan, 9. Hang Man, 11. Mahamedeis
Race 8:
SPEED: 9,7,3 & 4. Stable say 5 will settle midfield. MR QUICKIE bolted in a G1 Toorak Hcp here 3rd-up last prep with 59kg but that was 1600m. SO SI BON was 3.8L off him that day, he chased hard 2nd-up with 60kg at Flem. GREYWORM is better suited back at 1400m. AGE OF CHIVALRY was wide when 3L off Mr Quickie in that same Toorak Hcp. PRETTY BRAZEN peaked late fresh in So Si Bon race and beat Arcadia Queen 2nd-up last prep. CUBA led and beat all-bar Probaeel fresh last prep! Forgiving BAM’S ON FIRE miss in Sydney. MORVADA, RIDDLE ME THAT, ICONOCLASM form is all intertwined. STILL A STAR improves!
Selections: 6. Pretty Brazen (Top Tip), 8. Bam’s On Fire, 4. Age Of Chivalry, 1. Mr Quickie
Race 9:
SPEED: 1,3,11 with 9,12 taking trails. HOLBIEN keeps racing well and is back to BM90 grade. SKYMAN did look stiff in a Yarra Valley Cup, he drop back to 1600m but is a winning hope. RITRATTO is a good miler and like his Ironclad form. CADRE DU NOIR is proven fresh and has Skyman form. SHANDY is a good mare, her fresh win was terrific and her 2nd-up win last prep, excellent. RE EDIT should have won fresh last prep at Flemington. SURREAL IMAGE had excuses when Shandy thrashed him last Spring. KILLOURNEY has a case. ZEYREK trialled OK, market?
Selections: 9. Shandy (Best of the Day), 10. Re Edit, 3. Ritratto, 2. Skyman
Race 2: 1. Incredulous Dream

Unibet – From the Trader’s Desk:
Race 5 #6 California Zimbol (4.20) – LAY BET
Race 7 #11 Melody Belle (6.50)
Race 1:
CONRAD (6) Gave nothing else a chance when winning last run at Wyong but racing in stronger company. No surprise to see a win. SAIF (2) Game effort to win two runs back at Ballarat and can save some energy from the barrier. Should race just behind the speed. Contender in this event. CONVERGE (3) Second up. Fought on well to win two runs back at Warwick Farm. Each way prospects. WITH YOUR BLESSING (4) Came on strongly to finish 3rd two runs back at Canterbury. Gets a nice run behind the speed. Don’t overlook.
Race 2:
MASTER OF WINE (1) Was 4.2L from the winner at this course last time on a soft surface. Looks well placed against these and third up. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Will give a strong sight. SHARED AMBITION (3) Game effort to win three runs back at Randwick and goes down in weight. Shows good closing speed. Cannot underestimate. ENTENTE (2) Handy enough when winning last time at Albury and easy to come into at the trip. Live winning chance. LOOKS LIKE ELVIS (5) Having third run back from a spell. Sent around at $15 and finished 2L behind the winner here last start on a good surface but will try to take advantage of the barrier. Can surprise and by no means out of it.
Race 3:
CHERRY TORTONI (1) Finished strongly when 2nd two runs back at Flemington. Shows very good finishing speed. Contender. FAVREAU (6) Got the prize when winning last run at Kembla Grange but rising in class. Going well this preparation winning 2 from 3 attempts. Can figure. THE FRONTMAN (2) Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman trained 3yo by Makfi having first race appearance and can save some energy from the gate. Nice enough type to be supported. YOUNG WERTHER (3) Hit the line well when 2nd last time at Moonee Valley. Winkers off could be an important change. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value.
Race 4:
KRONE (1) Good win last time at this course and will be hitting the line strongly. Going well this campaign. Main hope. NIMALEE (10) Scored a victory last start at the track and freshened up. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Winning hope. ALL SAINTS’ EVE (8) Showed a good turn of foot when 3rd two runs back at Randwick and should get going late. One to watch and an each way chance. ICEBATH (9) Finished 3rd two runs back at Randwick. Worth a ticket.
Race 5:
CALIFORNIA ZIMBOL (6) Generally strong second up with 3 wins from 4 runs. Got the upper hand late when winning last run at the track and ideal distance as proven previously. Can make a claim. PRIME CANDIDATE (10) Second up specialist with 2 wins from 3 starts. Fell back to finish 6th last start at this venue but displays good tactical speed. Will be around the mark at odds. ROHERYN (3) Fought on gamely when winning three runs back at Eagle Farm and shows good closing speed. Knockout chance in this. PELTZER (9) Solid effort when winning three runs back at Randwick and going down in class. Expecting to settle positively. Likely to fill a place.
Race 6:
HARMONY ROSE (2) Having third run back from a break. Bold effort to win two runs back at Randwick and will appreciate a good draw. Bold performance expected. HUNGRY HEART (3) Really dug deep when winning last start at this track but racing over extra ground. Will be trying to topple them late. Serious player. PERSONAL (1) Was first to greet the judge when winning three runs back at Flemington and third up. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Winning chance in this line up. FORCE OF WILL (7) Game effort to win last time at Ellerslie and likely to race off the speed. Very tidy this preparation winning 4 from 5 attempts. Worth an each way bet in this.
Race 7:
SIR DRAGONET (1) Was $14 and finished 2.3L behind the winner at this venue last start on a soft track but backs up quickly today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Among the major players. MELODY BELLE (11) Showed promise when winning last run at Ellerslie but racing in stronger company today. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Has won 2 from 3 attempts this preparation. Contender. ANGEL OF TRUTH (9) Backing up quickly. Was outmuscled when 3rd last time at this venue. Could run into the placings. TOFFEE TONGUE (13) Game effort to win last time around here and can find a nice position from the draw. Can surprise and by no means out of it.
Race 8:
ROCK (4) Proven record second up with 3 wins from 3 starts. Ran on strongly when 3rd last time around here and can go through the gears. No surprise to see a forward showing and one of the main hopes in this race. YAO DASH (13) Really dug deep when winning last time at the track and dropping weight today. Should muster plenty of early speed. Can make a claim. SUBEDAR (15) Scored a victory last run at Kembla Grange and goes down in weight. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Interesting to see the blinkers go off for the first time. Big danger. BUFFALO RIVER (5) Worked hard to finish 3rd two runs back at Flemington. Expecting to settle positively. Might be one for the placings.
Race 9:
STARSPANGLED RODEO (5) Had a comfortable win three runs back at this track and very competitive this preparation. Should just about get the run of the race. Winning chance in what appears a suitable race. GREAT NEWS (12) Second up. Winner last run at Gosford but facing a stronger class. Goes close. Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
Wednesday’s Soft 5 rating will only improve as the fine weather leads us to this weekend. Rail out to the 6 metre position. We begin with 2YOs and some of these will hold out hopes they could make a late bid to be some factor in next week’s G1 Sires’. Speed could be set by 18 and 17 but if they are absent (which is more likely than not) 6 and 3 can take it up. WITH YOUR BLESSING has been solid in defeat at both runs and I can see him setting up for last crack here. SAIF through the VRC Sires’ and perhaps that’s the right formline. May need some luck from down on the inside though.
Selections: 4. With Your Blessing (Top Tip), 2. Saif, 3. Converge, 11. Testimonial
Race 2:
2 to lead 6 and 5 a likely scenario. This looms as very much a ‘stand up and be counted’ assignment for MASTER OF WINE. This time last year he had promised enough to be included in the nominations for ‘next big thing’ but he hasn’t quite measured up to the very high level since. Unplaced his latest eight runs in fact but they have all been in G1 grade and his two his prep (with 4 weeks in between) have been fair and reasonable. Weighted as he is here, 3rd-up on the quick turnaround, it’s a real test of where he’s at. I think he’ll go very well indeed. SHARED AMBITION started the prep with a win over Mount Popa and has held that sort of form since as well.
Selections: 1. Master Of Wine (Top Tip), 3. Shared Ambition, 2. Entente, 8. Aliferous
Race 3:
Next week’s Derby looms and we can rightly expect horses like Sky Lab and Montefilia to feature but let us keep in mind that the winner of this race has backed up to win the Derby for the last FOUR years (and provided the same exacta in the latest two). It’s quite the recent pattern so let’s watch this with great interest. 5 and 4 your leaders. FRONTMAN fought on gamely right to the end of the NZ Derby and emerges from a stable that know what they’re doing when it comes to sending horses out for these races. YOUNG WERTHER peaks for the Derby but should feature in this on the way there.
Selections: 2. The Frontman (Top Tip), 3. Young Werther, 4. Yaletown, 1. Cherry Tortoni
Race 4:
Speed from 2 and 5. KRONE is clearly flying. She defeated some of today’s key rivals in the Coolmore and did so pretty clearly. No conclusive reason she can’t continue on with what she’s doing. GREYSFUL GLAMOUR hated the rain on the day of the All-Star Mile and it’s a run to erase from her record for the purposes of figuring out what she can do today. More telling would be an examination of her latest handful of dry-track runs in Sydney; I guarantee they will have you considering her a realistic chance here. ICEBATH wants heavier than she’ll be getting but she was only 2L off KRONE last start on G3.
Selections: 1. Krone (Top Tip), 2. Greysful Glamour, 9. Icebath, 8. All Saints’ Eve
Race 5:
Pace from 9, 10 and 12. It’s not exactly loaded up with hot speed and I’m approaching it with a bit of caution but also some expectation that BRANDENBURG can produce a smart run fresh. He has never ever raced below 1300m so this is a new challenge but he has measured up to high grade races as a 3YO, and his spring prep was, on reflection, not all that bad. His two recent trials have caught they eye. CORUSCATE has first-up form, Rosehill form, and the class to be there at the end. Not potting the other Godolphin runners either in fact.
Selections: 4. Brandenburg (Value Bet), 1. Coruscate, 6. California Zimbol, 7. Outback Barbie
Race 6:
2 to lead 5. Maybe 10 and 9 next in line? HARMONY ROSE emerges through the Randwick Guineas and that looks the right approach to me, certainly to at least say she has now named herself as a potential G1 winning filly. That was her first foray into anything like the high level and she came out of it with plenty of respect. Could she get control here? HUNGRY HEART has arguably been looking for this journey all her career and comes in off a confidence builder. PERSONAL has her knockers but try finding a poor run (bar the day she drew 15 in the Slipper here).
Selections: 2. Harmony Rose (Best of the Day), 3. Hungry Heart, 1. Personal, 7. Force Of Will
Race 7:
Plenty of layers to this one but not a race I’m all that confident about. 9 and 6 set the tone and both come off runs that advertise them well for this. ANGEL OF TRUTH backs up confidently and a 3rd to Verry Elleegant/Addeybb is good stuff to bring along. SIR DRAGONET sound in the same race. SPIRIT RIDGE has to lift up to the level but the resuming run indicates he possibly could. SOUND rarely runs poorly. Ran 4th in this last year at massive odds and I fancy he’ll be somewhere in the finish again. MELODY BELLE is a NZ champion but the fact remains she is unplaced from six in Sydney. NICKAJACK CAVE has mixed it with some good horses.
Selections: 5. Sound (Top Tip), 6. Spirit Ridge, 9. Angel Of Truth, 1. Sir Dragonet
Race 8:
5 to lead (keenly?) from 7 and 13. ROCK, like a few of these, will want the speed to be as solid as possible and he may just get it. The return run was encouraging that he could win something like this on the way to the Randwick mile but his approach does mean he needs several things to go right in the run. BUFFALO RIVER is key to how this sets up of course. Though he goes at it too strongly, there is always the chance he could run the others ragged as well. SUBEDAR lightly raced but has come back from the long break so well that he looks a sneaky chance down on 53.
Selections: 4. Rock (Top Tip), 5. Buffalo River, 15. Subedar, 11. Bottega
Race 9:
A big field of BM88 gallopers to end the day – 13 + 6 emergencies in fact. SOMETHING FAST led his trial and perhaps could do that here? 5, 6, 12 some other contenders for on-pace spots. ACADEMY seemed to have his chance at Canberra but this is a bit easier and back to Rosehill where he tends to go very well indeed. No star but honest, and that might be enough to have him kicking on strongly. THY KINGDOM COME through the Handle The Truth race as well and is a chance to perch handy. SEGALAS sets up beautifully too.
Selections: 6. Academy (Top Tip), 2. Thy Kingdom Come, 10. Segalas, 12. Great News
