Race 1:
PRINCE OF ARRAGON (10) Bolted in when winning last run at Gosford and third up from a spell. Looks very sharp this preparation with 2 wins from as many starts. Must respect in this event. CELLARMAID (4) Nice run finishing 2nd last run at Gold Coast. Possesses good closing speed. Worth a ticket. I COULD DO BETTER (6) Did enough to win last time at Gold Coast. Should be swooping on the field late. Racing consistently since returning from a break. Rates a winning chance. REAL SENSATION (8) Got the upper hand late when winning two runs back at Flemington and suited by the weight drop. Always seems to find the line well. Has the ability to figure.
Race 2:
RIGHT OR WRONG (4) On a short back up. Kept finding the line when 3rd last time around here but will have to carry more weight. Rates a winning chance. GOLDIFOX (12) Rocketed home into 2nd two runs back at Gold Coast and expected to be flashing home. Will be competitive. GUNTANTES (6) Put in a competitive run when placing 2nd last start at Eagle Farm and easy to come into at the distance. Finishes off strongly. Include in chances. PURRONI (13) Snuck in a place when 2nd two runs back at this track and shows very good closing speed. Must respect.
Race 3:
SOCIALIST (5) Did a good job when winning last run at Canterbury but facing a stronger grade today. Should be going forward early. One of the major players. STELLAR MAGIC (1) Won narrowly two runs back at Eagle Farm. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. This field suits. FETCH (10) Was dominant when winning last run at Grafton and a debutant last start. Worth a bet. MORIOKA (8) Honest race when 2nd last start at Canterbury and third up. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Market watch advised and can run into the money.
Race 4:
ROCKETING BY (5) Fought on well to win three runs back at Randwick and having third run back from a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Among the major players. KISUKANO (14) Nice show finishing 3rd last start at Gold Coast and looks well graded. Won’t be far away during the run. Respect. WISDOM OF WATER (1) Put in a competitive run when placing 3rd last time at Gold Coast but has more weight to carry. Should race on the speed. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value. GOLDSBOROUGH (7) Second up from a spell. Game effort to win last time at Sunshine Coast but facing a stronger class today. Has the ability to figure.
Race 5:
PARADEE (1) Landed the spoils when winning two runs back at Caulfield and shows good early pace. Fights on bravely so consider. GREYSFUL GLAMOUR (2) Good result placing 2nd three runs back at Rosehill. Has good tactical speed and will be nicely positioned. Winning hope. YAMAZAKI (3) Nice effort when winning last start at Gold Coast and first start for a new trainer. Finishes off strongly. One of the major players. NUDGE (4) Came on strongly when 2nd last time at Gosford but carrying more weight than last time. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this campaign. Should be swooping on the field late. Will be in the finish.
Race 6:
KING OF HASTINGS (4) Brave effort to win two runs back at Randwick and likely to race off the speed. Contender. SUGAR BOOM (6) Landed the spoils when winning three runs back at Gold Coast and displays good tactical speed. Big danger. CALIFORNIA ZIMBOL (2) Game effort to win three runs back at Rosehill but rising in weight. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. One for the trifectas and first fours in this race. VARDA (11) Bold run when 5th last start at Hawkesbury and second up from a spell. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Among the chances.
Race 7:
ZAAKI (5) Was first to greet the judge when winning last run at Gold Coast but up in grade. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Likely to be first past the post. MUGATOO (2) Got the upper hand late when winning three runs back at Moonee Valley and can save some energy from the barrier. Can make a claim. SIR DRAGONET (1) Bold effort to win two runs back at Rosehill and will try to take advantage of the alley. Can figure. FIFTY STARS (3) Made considerable ground when 2nd last run at Gold Coast but rising in class. Does take a while to get into stride. Don’t dismiss.
Race 8:
GARIBALDI (14) Having second run back from a spell. Dominant winner two runs back here and goes down in weight. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Goes very close. SKINS (17) Chimed in with a win last time at this track and having third run back from a spell. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Strong form this campaign winning 2 from as many starts. Winnable race. GROUNDSWELL (8) Nice effort when winning last time at Morphettville and expecting to settle positively. Very tidy this campaign winning 2 from 3 starts. Chance in this field so include in exotics. TOFANE (2) Races well second up winning 2 from 4 starts. At $8 finished 2.4L behind the winner at Randwick last start on a soft surface. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. One of the hopes.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
Group 1 Doomben Cup day where we’ll be going around on a Good surface, great days racing ahead! Tempo in the opener from nos.2, 3, 7 with 11 handy. REAL SENSATION has accepted both here & Flemington where he draws off the track. His last start defeat at Caulfield was an unlucky one unable to gain clear running down the straight, sectionals were still strong & he should run out the 2000m ok. No jock for PRINCE OF ARRAGON who has also accepted at Rosehill, going great guns this prep definite chance if makes the trip. CELLARMAID is getting close, look for her charging late. DESIGNS an improver.
Selections: 8. Real Sensation (SCRATCHED), 10. Prince Of Arragon, 4. Cellarmaid, 12. Designs
Race 2:
Nos. 1, 2 & 5 the main players tempo wise here. Open looking race, going for one at likely good odds in MOCAMBO who has only had the three local starts since coming north. First was a dominant last to first win, second a terrific effort again coming from well back to just fail in a sprint home, third was ok on an unsuitable wet track. No reason for him to get way out of his ground here & with clear running in the straight can figure. GUNTANTES has been consistent this prep without winning, few issues last start pulling up, definite winning chance. GOLDIFOX not the roughest.
Selections: 10. Mocambo (Top Tip), 6. Guntantes, 12. Goldifox, 4. Right Or Wrong
Race 3:
True Moonlight should lead off the good gate here over Dovetail Diva with Hoover Lucy sliding across from wide out. Big test for the debut Grafton winner FETCH however just get the feeling she might be well above average. Took the gap with plenty of confidence when it came & powered away, she then trotted in a recent barrier trial here running solid time with plenty left in the tank. RHAPSODY ROSE was good sticking on at the Gold Coast, gate & where she ends up a worry however not leaving out. Plenty of other solid chances in the race which looks a very competitive affair.
Selections: 10. Fetch (SCRATCHED), 2. Rhapsody Rose, 1. Stellar Magic, 7. Dovetail Diva
Race 4:
Yes Yup Yay right up there early on from the pole, 1 & 6 are going to look to get over whilst the widely drawn Patino Ruby has plenty of speed drawn right off the track though. LORD OLYMPUS scored an outstanding win here over this trip in the Mick Dittman two back after missing the kick, he then went to the Gold Coast when sound in a race which was put on for the on paced runners who finished 1-2. ROCKETING BY faced a similar task in that race & suffered the same fate, flying last prep & J Mac to pilot. Local GAROPPOLO had zero luck first up, a must for exotics players, also include KISUKANO.
Selections: 4. Lord Olympus (Top Tip), 5. Rocketing By, 11. Garoppolo, 14. Kisukano
Race 5:
Greysful Glamour should find the front without much fuss here, Paradee & possibly Gem Of Scotland the only others likely to push on. Probably like a little more tempo for LE GAI SOLEIL as she’s not an on paced mare & won’t want the leaders ‘picnicing’ up front. Very unlucky to lose on the Kenso last start when clear a shade too late rattling home to just miss. PARADEE returns with a very consistent overall record, certainly capable enough of winning this first up, Craig Williams should be able to tuck in ok from wide out. No knock YAMAZAKI who won at the Gold Coast (as usual) in good style.
Selections: 10. Le Gai Soleil (Top Tip), 1. Paradee, 3. Yamazaki, 11. Seentoomany
Race 6:
Good speed here through the likes of Sugar Boom, Niedorp & Kylease etc, The Odyssey is no slouch either yet they’ll likely burn him off. In a tough race I’m going with JUST ORM on an each-way basis, he caught the eye very late first up at the Gold Coast & will appreciate the extra 200m here, firmer footing also a plus & expect a quiet ride from Ryan Maloney early on before closing in late. CALIFORNIA ZIMBOL has been freshened up & races well that way, strong form down south, definite winning chance. Can never leave THE ODYSSEY out whilst KYLEASE ran slick time winning a recent trial here.
Selections: 3. Just Orm (Top Tip), 2. California Zimbol, 1. The Odyssey, 13. Kylease
Race 7:
The Group 1 Doomben Cup will be a cracking race, the addition of the reigning Cox Plate & All Star Mile winners to the field we saw in the Hollindale certainly cranks things up a notch. Map – Shared Ambition can lead, Toffee Tongue parks close & that’s it, I’d expect J Mac to again push forward early & find a prominent spot for Zaaki with that being the case. He was dominant in the Hollindale & I can’t see how any he beat there could turn the tables. SIR DRAGONET the danger for me, Boss may make use of the good draw & have him no worse than midfield. FIFTY STARS suited by the additional 200m.
Selections: 5. Zaaki (Best of the Day), 1. Sir Dragonet, 3. Fifty Stars (SCRATCHED), 6. Humidor
Race 8:
Speed here all bar Groundswell is from outside gates, nos. 6, 10, 13 & 16 all fared poorly suggesting there will be a bit going on early. I was always going to find GARIBALDI & SKINS hard to split however the barrier draw has made the decision a little easier. GARIBALDI can sit off that tempo & surge late, he was a good thing beaten first up & I can’t see the 1350m posing a problem. SKINS is likely to give away a huge start, he can produce a big finish however so can GARIBALDI who should be lengths closer, reverse the gates & I’d reverse my selection. GROUNDSWELL the southern visitor next best
Selections: 14. Garibaldi (Top Tip), 17. Skins, 8. Groundswell, 2. Tofane
Race 9:
We close out the day with the 3yo fillies heading towards the Oaks in a fortnights time. Tempo appears solid with nos. 4, 9, 11, 12, 14 & 15 all on paced types. BARGAIN hasn’t raced for 5 weeks however has the better form lines through the Oaks & the Adrian Knox, if she’s fit enough she’ll be hard to beat on those runs. GRACE AND HARMONY impressed at the Gold Coast sitting wide yet still able to put her rivals away in the straight, this is tougher & she draws out again however is definitely on the up. Liked both GOOD SOIZE’s runs this time in, nicely drawn she’s ready for 2000m now.
Selections: 2. Bargain (Top Tip), 3. Grace And Harmony, 6. Good Soize, 10. Signora Nera
