Race 1:
PRINCE OF ARRAGON (4) Really dug deep when winning last time at Doomben but will have to carry extra weight today. Very tidy this campaign winning 3 from as many starts. Will go well. INCENTIVISE (11) Bolted in when winning last run at Toowoomba but up against stronger competition today. Strong form this preparation winning 3 from 5 attempts. Suited. CELLARMAID (7) Put in a competitive run when placing 2nd two runs back at Gold Coast. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. No shock to see a win. TRADUCE (10) Won last run here and can save some energy from the draw. Can measure up to this company.
Race 2:
CAPE BRETON (2) Fought on well to win last start at Canterbury and was a debutant last start. A win looks likely. VOLCANIC ROCK (9) Having second run back from a break. Game effort to win three runs back at Canberra and should race on the speed. Serious player. TUTUKAKA (5) Placed 2nd last time at Sunshine Coast but up against stronger competition. Include. VERBEK (4) Having third run back from a spell. Did well to finish 2nd last time at Hawkesbury but racing in stronger company. Has scope so do not ignore.
Race 3:
BOLD STYLE (5) Inched into 5th last run at this track and backs up quickly today. Possesses very good finishing speed. Can make a claim. RED CHASE (1) Finished 3.55L from the winner at Doomben last run on a good track but third up from a spell. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Leading chance. TUMBLER RIDGE (8) Winner two runs back at Doomben and suited by the weight drop. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Will be around the mark at odds. BOOMSARA (2) Second up. Was 4.7L from the winner at Gold Coast last start on a soft surface. Should be suited but rises in weight. Don’t disregard.
Race 4:
USMANOV (1) Good win last start at Gold Coast. Should be right in the finish. BOOMTOWN LASS (5) Resuming after a spell. Rocketed home into 3rd last time at Gold Coast but returning to a shorter trip. Could prove hard to beat. DOCTOR ZOUS (7) Finished on top last time at Sunshine Coast and displays good tactical speed. Worth a ticket. SPURCRAFT (3) Lost ground in the run home when 12th last run at Doomben but generally strong third up. Should be swooping on the field late. Marginal chance.
Race 5:
SPLINTEX (1) Was fighting out the finish when winning two runs back at Randwick and solid performer at this trip in the past. A win looks likely. VARDA (8) Third up from a spell. Landed the spoils when winning last start at Doomben and goes down in grade. One of the major players. THE ASTROLOGIST (7) Having second run back from a spell. Hit the line well when 5th last run at Doomben and looks well placed in this grade. Could be value. BALLER (4) Game effort to win last start at Gold Coast and displays good finishing speed. Marginal chance.
Race 6:
GROUNDSWELL (1) Did enough to win two runs back at Morphettville and should jump out and bowl along. Strong form this campaign winning 2 from 4 starts. Good enough for this and worth a bet. CHARLEISE (6) Handy enough when winning last time at Rosehill and carrying less weight this time. Been in the money 5 from 6 attempts this campaign. Winnable race. LUVOIR (7) Nice run when 3rd last time at this venue and displays good tactical speed. Has run into the money 3 from 4 attempts this campaign. Better claims. GOLDIFOX (9) Showed a good turn of foot when 2nd last time at Doomben and possesses good finishing speed. Tracking very well this campaign. Consider an each way bet.
Race 7:
NETTOYER (1) Won narrowly three runs back at Randwick and back in an easier grade. Finishes off strongly. Leading chance. NUDGE (5) Winner last run at Doomben. Been in the money 4 from 5 attempts this campaign. Among better hopes. IN GOOD HEALTH (4) Was strong to the line when winning last start at Morphettville but returns to a shorter trip. Should jump out and bowl along. Rates a winning chance. POLLY GREY (2) Brave effort to win last run at Rosehill and going well this preparation. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Looks value and a good place bet.
Race 8:
BARGAIN (3) Good show finishing 2nd last run at Doomben. Displays good finishing speed. Can give this a shake. DUAIS (1) Won narrowly two runs back at Randwick and expected to be flashing home. Tracking very well this campaign. Has the ability to figure. GRACE AND HARMONY (6) Scored a victory two runs back at Gold Coast and very competitive this preparation. Possesses very good finishing speed. Expected to fight out the finish. ONLY WORDS (4) Was all too good winning last run at Doomben. Every chance today.
Race 9:
KISUKANO (11) Solid win last time at Doomben. Serious contender. GEORGIE’S PRIDE (12) Left nothing to chance when winning last run at the track and carrying less weight this time. Should muster plenty of early speed. Go close. ROCKETING BY (1) At $4.4 finished 7th last start at Doomben. Likely to race off the speed. Worth strong consideration. OUR PLAYBOY (5) Jumped at $19 and was 1 3/4L behind the winner at Doomben last run on a good surface but will be hitting the line strongly. This field suits.

Race 1:
The great racing continues at Eagle Farm on Saturday with the Group 1 Queensland Oaks our highlight, there’s a great support card also featuring the Group 2 Moreton Cup & the half million dollar MM National Classic amongst other races. Weather perfect, track Good, let’s go! Sticky draw for PRINCE OF ARRAGON who will likely drift back, tempo looks ok suggesting he’ll be able to get home over them late, his win at Doomben was good as were his two down south, unbeaten since joining current stable. Wouldn’t overlook CELLARMAID, this track suits her & she’ll also be strong late.
Selections: 4. Prince Of Arragon (Top Tip), 7. Cellarmaid, 2. Masaff, 3. Tavion Prince
Race 2:
Tempo on paper doesn’t appear strong here with Volcanic Rock likely to take up the lead, Minto’s Paradise will be looking to get over from a wide draw, 1, 2, 6 all capable of racing handily. I’m with the Kiwi TUTUKAKA who had ‘further now’ written all over him when finishing second at the Sunshine Coast, couldn’t sprint with the winner early straight however he knuckled down & got going late, hoping the additional 100m is enough ground. The Waller runner CAPE BRETON didn’t set the world on fire winning at his debut however the quick trip up here suggests he’s progressed well.
Selections: 5. Tutukaka (Top Tip), 2. Cape Breton (SCRATCHED), 9. Volcanic Rock, 10. It’s All Talk
Race 3:
Absence of a clear leader on the map this race, nos. 1, 2, 3, 5 & 9 I have marked as ‘handy to the pace’ however not leaders, tactics early will be crucial to the end result. I’ll lean RED CHASE’s way, he can take up a position early from the good draw & his form here on his home track is very good, he’s run some high numbers., the drop back 50m is a slight concern though. Reckon MACEWEN can run a race, freshened up he needs dry ground & his record here is excellent, gate suggests he’ll get back however that will allow Ryan to bring him wide with an unimpeded finishing burst. # 3, 1300m?
Selections: 1. Red Chase (Top Tip), 4. Macewen, 3. Mishani Hustler, 2. Boomsara
Race 4:
Similar to the previous race there’s no clear leader which is odd in a 1000m Lightning! Usmanov & Boomtown Lass the most likely, # 7 is capable of going forward, # 8 is tough to map, may push on? Sticking with USMANOV & BOOMTOWN LASS with a slight leaning to the latter who races well fresh & carries 4.5kg less, Bossy will need to be wary of any rivals who may kick up inside as she does draw the extreme outside. USMANOV bolted in at the Gold Coast enjoying the run of the race, he goes well for Baylee & will prove very hard to beat. VARDA was huge at Doomben, tempo a concern & back 1110m here.
Selections: 5. Boomtown Lass (Top Tip), 1. Usmanov, 2. Varda (SCRATCHED), 4. Tycoon Ace
Race 5:
Group 2 Moreton Cup sees Splintex a $1.01 pop to lead from the pole draw should Josh Parr wish too, he’s the only leader in the race! Nos. 2, 5, 6, 7 fill the spots behind unless one decides to apply pressure early. Can’t say he’s a horse of mine SPLINTEX but just keep coming back to him, drops in grade, gets the right run & under the SWP conditions is well in at the weights. Awkward draw for THE ASTROLOGIST suggesting he will need luck early which he hasn’t had much of lately, has ability & no surprise to see him bob up here. BALLER was good first run for Gollan, can he repeat?
Selections: 1. Splintex (Top Tip), 7. The Astrologist, 4. Baller, 8. Varda
Race 6:
Yet another race with no pace on paper! Groundswell & Luvoir appear the most likely with 8 & 11 handy. Safe way out here may be LUVOIR on an each-way basis, placed his two starts up here 1600 & 1400m, 1500m today seems very suitable & he parks close, no 7 day back up form however this yard won’t run him if not recovered ok. Thought GOLDIFOX was very good at Doomben, drawn well he generally gets back & is dropping in trip, if close enough he can win. CHARLEISE is racing very well, my concern is how much start he gives away? Chances don’t end there, could make a case for many this race.
Selections: 7. Luvoir (Top Tip), 9. Goldifox, 6. Charleise, 4. Love You Lucy
Race 7:
The fillies & mares do battle for half a million here in what looks a very competitive affair. Fabric may lead, 2, 4 & 10 are capable of pushing on however that’s about it on the map… again! That’s not going to suit NUDGE however I was so impressed with her win at Doomben I’m throwing all the usual factors out the window & going with the eye which is rarely wrong, she did it against the tempo that day also which adds further merit. Respecting anything Peter Moody brings north so in goes IN GOOD HEALTH who has been flying down south. ROCHA CLOCK also flying, will give a decent start though?
Selections: 5. Nudge (Value Bet), 4. In Good Health, 3. Rocha Clock, 2. Polly Grey
Race 8:
The Group 1 Oaks dominated by Chris Waller who has 6 of the 14 runners (almost 43%)! Tempo setters are Splendiferous & Easifar with Bargain camped right behind. She’s the one for me BARGAIN who I thought put the writing on the wall in the Roses a fortnight back which was her first run for 5 weeks. Just a touch soft very late in betting she held her ground early in the straight before surging late, with that run now under the belt lookout! DUAIS 7 weeks between outings she’ll give away a hefty start from the gate, will no doubt motor late though. GRACE AND HARMONY next, finally drawn a gate!
Selections: 3. Bargain (Best of the Day), 1. Duais, 6. Grace And Harmony, 10. Signora Nera
Race 9:
Georgie’s Pride is very much like her flying stablemate Apache Chase, they just run their rivals ragged with quick splits/cruising speed. She’ll be looking to get across here & should do so, doubt rivals can match her early speed. Going with OUR PLAYBOY who caught the eye first up behind Kisukano running home strongly at his first outing as a gelding, he almost broke 22s L400 & 11s L200 in a race where 3 of the first 4 in the run finished in the top 3. Certainly giving GEORGIE’S PRIDE a winning chance, definitely up in grade she’s still going to be very hard to run down. BLONDEAU in the mix.
Selections: 5. Our Playboy (Top Tip), 12. Georgie’s Pride, 6. Blondeau (SCRATCHED), 7. Tramonto
Race 8:
BEST BET: Bargain
EXOTIC: Box Trifecta: 1,2,4,6,8,14

3. Only Words
4. Grace and Harmony
