Race 2 No.6 FORGOT YOU (7.00, 2.30) – VALUE BET
Race 4 No.7 LINDHOUT (2.70) – BEST BET
Race 1:
SOUTH PACIFIC (4) Blitzed its rivals when winning two runs back at this venue and suited by the weight drop. Could pose a threat and expected to go very close. DR DRILL (1) Managed to place 2nd last time here and carrying less weight this time. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. Hard to hold out. ONE MORE TRY (5) Was fighting out the finish when winning three runs back at Moonee Valley and always seems to find the line well. Expect to go close. SCHABAU (3) Having second run back from a spell. At $7.5 was nearly 2.5L from the winner here last run on a soft surface but displays very good closing speed. This field suits.
Race 2:
SUNFALL (3) Solid effort when winning two runs back at Geelong and should get going late. Appears as a winning threat. STAR SPIRIT (8) Showed promise when winning two runs back at Swan Hill but racing in stronger company. Contender. SHARP RESPONSE (1) Did enough to win last start at Sandown but racing in stronger company today. Serious player. FORGOT YOU (5) Resuming after a spell. Looked good when 3rd three runs back at Ballarat and back in an easier grade. Can figure.
Race 3:
LOMBARDO (4) Won last run at Morphettville and second up from a break. Trainer has gone for the blinkers off, take note. Is in good order and can run well. OVERKILL (1) At $8 ended up over 2L behind the winner at Caulfield last run on a good track but gelded. Warrants a bet. ZESTY BELLE (14) Good show when finishing 2nd two runs back at Caulfield and displays very good finishing speed. Gets a chance to win. ZORRO’S DREAM (3) Displayed good finishing speed when 3rd last time here and always seems to find the line well. Been in the money 8 from 9 attempts this campaign. Up to these.
Race 4:
LINDHOUT (7) Handy enough when winning two runs back at this venue. Possesses very good finishing speed. Looks the winner on initial assessment. AIDENSFIELD (5) Charged home into 3rd two runs back at this course. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Should go well. TURAATH (13) Showed promise when winning last start at Sandown and suited by the weight drop. Very strong each way claims. ISLAND JOY (12) Jumped at $17 and ended up close to 3.5L behind the winner at this track last start on a soft surface but second up from a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Can figure in the finish.
Race 5:
DEEP SPEED (12) Game effort to win last run at Caulfield and expecting to settle positively. Include in all exotics. OXLEY ROAD (2) Got the cash when winning two runs back at Caulfield but racing fresh after a break. Should muster plenty of early speed. No shock to see a win. KALKARNI ROYALE (8) Fought on well to win last time here but going up in weight. Racing consistently this preparation. Each way prospects. MISS ALBANIA (15) Scored a victory three runs back at Caulfield and displays good tactical speed. Knockout chance in this.
Race 6:
GROUNDSWELL (3) Was all too good winning three runs back at Morphettville and displays good tactical speed. Very competitive this preparation. Live winning chance. RED CAN MAN (1) Brave effort to win two runs back at Caulfield and drops back to a suitable grade. Should muster plenty of early speed. Must be considered. KING MAGNUS (7) Handy enough when winning last start at Caulfield and possesses very good closing speed. Tracking very well this campaign. Should be in the finish. VIRAL (10) Dashed home into 2nd last start at Caulfield. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Strong each way hope.
Race 7:
HOSIER (7) Gave nothing else a chance when winning last start at Sandown and displays good tactical speed. Hasn’t put a foot wrong this campaign with 3 wins from as many runs. Top chance. PERENNIAL (17) Was first to greet the judge when winning last time at Sandown and goes down in weight. Been in the money 4 from 5 attempts this campaign. Races well in these conditions so do not discard. TOORADIN (4) Finished on top three runs back at Warrnambool. Keep it safe and include in any exotic bets. ORLEANS ROCK (14) Showed a good turn of foot when 3rd last run at this track but gets back and needs luck. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. One of the chances.
Race 8:
THE ASTROLOGIST (5) Got the upper hand late when winning two runs back around here and expecting to settle positively. Racing consistently this preparation. Can feature. AYSAR (3) Produced an eye catching run when 2nd two runs back at the track and shows good early pace. One of the major hopes. BANQUO (8) Third up from a spell. Finished 2nd last start at this track. Maybe for the trifectas and a marginal hope. ORDER OF COMMAND (2) Slipped back to finish 8th last time at Caulfield but gets a nice run behind the speed. One for the trifectas and first fours in this race.
Race 9:
GRINZINGER ALLEE (7) Fought on well to win two runs back at Sandown and should race just behind the speed. Serious player. D’AGUILAR (13) Bold effort to win last start at Sandown and finishes off strongly. One of the top hopes. SCOTTISH DANCER (3) Brave effort to win last run at Caulfield but rises in weight. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Strong form this preparation winning 3 from 4 starts. Quite a few boxes are ticked and looks value at generous odds. SCANTOON (9) Did enough to win three runs back at Sandown and suited by the weight drop. Has each way claims.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
NOTE: Rail is 10m. Was 3m here last meeting and inside lanes chopped out as the day wore on. SPEED: 8 may lead 4, 1 here? DR DRILL was 5-weeks between runs latest and looked the winner when he came off heels but Furrion was too tough, he did perform at this trip before coming to Oz. ONE MORE TRY was good there second up but jumps to 2530m quickly. SCHABAU kept closing (4th-fastest home) and fitter now! THE GOOD FIGHT was a strong winner here at 2800m with his 60kg, it was a proper test of endurance. SOUTH PACIFIC was $2.15F fave there but had a slow recovery rate.
Selections: 4. South Pacific (Top Tip), 1. Dr Drill, 2. The Good Fight, 3. Schabau
Race 2:
SPEED: 4, 7, 9 go forward. SHARP RESPONSE chased Jigsaw in fast time before sitting wide last time and beating STAR SPIRIT, who did loom to win, and was 6-weeks between runs, at start two. She has a 2kg swing today also. SUNFALL was just no match for (long-priced) quinella at Caulfield. Fourth (Pounding) then won. They beat fifth well, time was good (set up by strong early speed). FORGOT YOU is a maiden but is jumping out well and ran well without luck in VRC Sires here then ran on against nasty bias in G3 Baillieu. STRIKE EAGLE a definite hope. ITALIAN POET with no weight can win also.
Selections: 5. Forgot You (Top Tip), 1. Sharp Response, 3. Sunfall, 8. Star Spirit
Race 3:
Speed good. OVERKILL is good fresh and jumped out well enough to win here. Like the Hi Stranger form. LOMBARDO won fresh in Adelaide and he too has that Hi Stranger form. ZORRO’S DREAM keeps racing well but draws in? TERAMIA has similar form-lines. MODEAR always a threat in these if planets align. PIONEER RIVER was excellent fresh then had excuses next two, fancy wants track Soft-5 of better. ASHFORD STREET was very good Caulfield on tough day to lead. ZESTY BELLE is drawn to swoop, back to 1100m? New 3YO ABSEILER is a definite hope.
Selections: 10. Ashford Street (Top Tip), 9. Pioneer River, 1. Overkill, 4. Lombardo
Race 4:
SPEED: 2,4,6 the main ones but many others can be handy. LINDHOUT gets Newitt back on board here after flying home last time from bit too far back. AIDENSFIELD went with her that day and has 1.5kg swing this time. That form through Gilgani ties in LADY D’ORO. DON’TTELLTHEBOSS is deep into prep but still going well and has little weight advantage on Lindhout and Co. OCEAN’S THIRTEEN has won 2 of 3 fresh and jumped out well. TURAATH won well last time at 1400m, draws out. OUR BIRDSONG was tough latest. MELODEON the best roughie?
Selections: 7. Lindhout (Best of the Day), 5. Aidensfield, 2. Ocean’s Thirteen, 1. Don’ttelltheboss
Race 5:
SPEED: 2, 12, 15 can all go fast. OXLEY ROAD looked smart in first two wins then quickly spelled after the miss last time. First jumpout looked great, eased down late in latest. DEEP SPEED led/won fresh beating in-form horses (and subsequent winners) in slick time. MISS ALBANIA picked a tough day to lead at Caulfield into that wind, she ran very well. MILTON PARK won fresh last prep at 1400m. PINYIN is much better suited at 1100m for mine. KILKARNEY ROYALE won that race. RUBAN BLEU is flying but, again, wish he drew wider. YULONG STORM won that race! HOUSAY was too good for Ruban Bleu in Jan.
Selections: 2. Oxley Road (Top Tip), 15. Miss Albania, 12. Deep Speed, 14. Housay
Race 6:
SPEED: 3 likes to lead. 1,2,10,12 can be handy. RED CAN MAN gave his all at WFA last time, to 1400m is no issue. WOLFE has the quality and is proven fresh, has jump out was fair. GROUNDSWELL can run slick time from the front, like him best at 1400m, is 9-weeks off here but won jumpout very well 23/7. INN KEEPER ran well in that Bletchingly Stks but 1400m still a query. KING MAGNUS is flying! Last two wins have been terrific and again he stays down in the weights. VIRAL was rock solid second to him last time. BIOMETRIC back to 1400m can certainly win.
Selections: 3. Groundswell (Top Tip), 1. Red Can Man, 7. King Magnus, 6. Biometric
Race 7:
SPEED: 7, 2 from 4, 12 but others can be up there. HOSIER has looked exceptional in three Oz wins. He did get away with a very soft lead last time but walked in. VEGAS KNIGHT had excuses latest, he can hit back. TOORADIN is very genuine, kept fresh suits him. GHODELEINE was a horror watch last week, she still ran home race-fastest there without any luck! ZACHAZ had excuses latest. NERVE NOT VERVE ditto. OH MO can swoop home. ORLEANS ROCK ran very well here latest at his first go 2000m. 15, 16, 17 are all in the trifecta mix.
Selections: 7. Hosier (Top Tip), 14. Orleans Rock, 6. Ghodeleine, 13. Oh Mo
Race 8:
SPEED: 5, 6, 11 with 8. Lot of angles to this! THE ASTROLOGIST was brave in the Bletchingly at WFA and too tough for BANQUO here prior. Banquo has 2.5kg swing. ORDER OF COMMAND ran out of luck late in that Bletchingly and likes the straight. AYSAR beat all bar Oakleigh Plate winner Portland Sky fresh last prep and jumped out well. SIRIUS SUSPECT also jumped out well. First up last prep he was narrowly beaten by The Astrologist for second behind the smart Exhilarates, she beat KING OF HASTINGS recently. Loved REGARDSMAREE’s trial, don’t like gate 1. TOO GOOD TOO HARD with 54kg can win: overs?
Selections: 14. Too Good Too Hard (Value Bet), 3. Aysar, 5. The Astrologist, 2. Order Of Command
Race 9:
SPEED: 1 & 16 can run along. 6, 13 take trails? GRINZINGER ALLEE had good backing fresh but was asked to sustain a long run from the bad draw, fitter now and drawn to get a softer run this time. SCANTOON is very genuine and gave all last time in BM78 grade. KAPLUMPICH was race-fastest last 200m there (2nd-up), they both run 1600m. COOLTH ran well at MV fresh last prep at 1600m and Flemington suits him much better! D’AGUILAR impressed fresh beating King Magnus, who then beat Grinzinger Allee. SCOTTISH DANCER is flying! SHOT OF IRISH is proven second up. KINANE is good enough!
Selections: 7. Grinzinger Allee (Top Tip), 13. D’aguilar, 1. Shot Of Irish, 12. Coolth
Race 1:
3. Schabau, 1. Dr Drill, 2. The Good Fight, 4. South Pacific
Race 2:
8. Star Spirit, 5. Forgot You, 1. Sharp Response, 3. Sunfall
Race 3:
10. Ashford Street, 4. Lombardo, 14. Zesty Belle, 13. La Bella Costa
Race 4:
3. Melodeon, 7. Lindhout, 14. Laffalong, 5. Aidensfield
Race 5:
15. Miss Albania, 7. Second Slip, 2. Oxley Road, 8. Kalkarni Royale
Race 6:
3. Groundswell, 7. King Magnus, 1. Red Can Man
Race 7:
7. Hosier, 6. Ghodeleine, 20. Sleepless, 14. Orleans Rock
Race 8:
3. Aysar, 2. Order of Command, 9. King Of Hastings, 5. The Astrologist
Race 9:
13. D’aguilar, 8. Kaplumpich, 3. Scottish Dancer, 7. Grinzinger Allee

Randwick
Race 7: Viridine (4.60) (win)
Race 1:
LARKSPUR RUN (9) Having second run back from a spell. Left nothing to chance when winning last run at Canterbury and likely to be well placed early. Genuine threat. VRENELI (1) Was outmuscled when 3rd last time at the track and expecting to settle positively. Key hope. DIAMONDS’N’STONES (2) Fought on well to win two runs back at Sandown and second up from a spell. Should muster plenty of early speed. Looks promising in this race. BLACK BOLT (3) Finished strongly when 3rd two runs back at Hawkesbury and having third run back from a break. Should just about get the run of the race. Should be very competitive and is a genuine threat.
Race 2:
HARPO MARX (1) Bold effort to win two runs back at this track and will try to take advantage of the alley. Always seems to find the line well. Bet with confidence. PECUNIARY INTEREST (8) Was fighting out the finish when winning last time at Kembla Grange and likely to race off the speed. Contender. SPENCER (2) Fought on well to win three runs back at Rosehill. Should muster plenty of early speed. Worth a ticket. TERWILLIKER (4) Ran 2nd last time at this venue and can save some energy from the draw. Expecting to settle positively. Has each way claims.
Race 3:
DREAM RUNNER (15) Came on strongly when 2nd last time at Rosehill. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Tracking very well this preparation. Well suited and should prove hard to beat. ZOO STATION (9) Good win three runs back at Rosehill. Displays good closing speed. Can feature. SO SAY YOU (11) Brave effort to win last time at Rosehill. Capable of getting into the money. BOLD AND WILD (1) Couldn’t shake them off when 3rd last start at Rosehill. Should muster plenty of early speed. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this campaign. Leading chance.
Race 4:
LOVEPLANET (9) Won narrowly last run at Sandown and expecting to settle positively. Placed 2nd in a barrier trial at Rosehill Gardens on Jul 30th. Can have an impact. INVINCIANO (6) Landed the spoils when winning last run at this track but facing a stronger grade today. Should muster plenty of early speed. Respect in this company. PAPAL WARRIOR (5) Winner two runs back at Rosehill. Been in the money 5 from 6 attempts this preparation. Capable of forward showing and can be competitive. RE EDIT (7) Flew home into 2nd two runs back at Caulfield and should get going late. Winner in a barrier trial at Rosehill Gardens on Jul 30th. Each way.
Race 5:
BAZOOKA (9) Kept finding the line when 2nd last start at Rosehill. Has run into the money 3 from 4 attempts this campaign. Capable of getting into the money. CASINO MONDIAL (1) Having second run back from a break. Brave effort to win last time at Rosehill. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. Each way prospects. FANTASTIC BABY (3) Won narrowly two runs back at Newcastle and gets a nice run behind the speed. Blinkers off could be an important change. Good prospect for the exotics at least. SAVVY CROWN (10) Game effort to win two runs back at Muswellbrook and having third run back from a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Quite a few boxes are ticked and looks value at generous odds.
Race 6:
STARLA (2) Fought on well to win last run at Rosehill but hoping that the added weight won’t hurt. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this campaign. Among better hopes. MORE PROPHETS (4) Rattled home nicely into 3rd three runs back around here and finishes off strongly. Among better hopes. IRISH ANGEL (7) Left nothing to chance when winning three runs back at Canterbury. Must respect. EIGHT DIAMONDS (10) Did enough to win two runs back at Canterbury and always seems to find the line well. Expected to fight out the finish.
Race 7:
FASIKA (7) Races well fresh winning 3 from 5 attempts. Game effort to win two runs back around here and has plenty of early speed. Goes close. KOLDING (1) Resumes after a spell. Got the upper hand late when winning last start at this course and will find this grade easier. Include in all exotics. VIRIDINE (2) Good show when finishing 3rd three runs back here. Possesses very good closing speed. No shock to see a win. PHOBETOR (5) Third up today. Won narrowly two runs back at Doomben and can find a nice position from the draw. Contender.
Race 8:
REMARQUE (3) Solid win two runs back at Rosehill and unbeaten in all trials. Appears as a winning threat. IN THE CONGO (7) Was all too good winning two runs back around here and back from a freshen up. Won a barrier trial at Royal Randwick on Jul 27th. Keep in mind. PAULELE (1) Solid win last time here and shows good early pace. Ran 3rd in a barrier trial at Hawkesbury on Jul 19th. Well placed and has solid claims. SKY COMMAND (4) Landed the spoils when winning last run at this venue but racing in stronger company today. Going well this preparation winning 2 from as many attempts. Must be considered.
Race 9:
ENFLEURAGE (3) Resuming after a break of more than 1 year. Outgunned at the finish when 2nd three runs back at Caulfield and shows good early pace. This field suits. FASTCONI (4) Landed the spoils when winning last time at the track. Been in the money 6 from 7 attempts this preparation. Include in all exotics. SIXGUN (7) On a quick turnaround. Won narrowly last time here. Winning hope. HULK (2) Ran on strongly when 2nd two runs back at Rosehill and very competitive this campaign. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Can’t knock.
Race 10:
TYCOONIST (4) Finished 3rd last time at Rosehill and shows good early pace. Has run into the money 5 from 6 attempts this preparation. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value. KINGSHEIR (11) Winner three runs back at this track and gelded. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Can feature. ACADEMY (1) Should be ready to fire fresh with 2 wins from 4 runs. Solid run on the pace before weakening to finish 2nd three runs back at this course but carrying more weight than last time. Respect. STARLA (14) Game effort to win last run at Rosehill. Been in the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. Capable of better.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:
Race 1:
Back to Randwick we go with the rail hemmed back into the 5 metre position for this card. No rain in the leadup to the weekend so we will likely remain as Good 4. And here’s VRENELI as top weight in the opener, as was the case last week. He’s up against a different set of gallopers here, and giving them all between 4 and 9.5 kilos. JVO off/Nash on. DIAMONDS’N’STONES finds a lovely spot in running and can be expected to build on what he offered first-up. Brock Ryan has ridden winners at the last five meetings he has attended (for 8 from 26). TOO MUCHTOBEAR draws widest but beat a promising sort last start (and a couple of other subsequent winners). Can he slot in handy here?
Selections: 2. Diamonds’n’stones (Top Tip), 9. Larkspur Run, 1. Vreneli, 5. Toomuchtobear
Race 2:
Over a distance we go. Speed from 2, 4, 5, 6. Your personal view on the influence of weights in a 2400m race is given an elemental test here. HARPO MARX started a $2.80 fave in the most compelling leadup event a fortnight ago. He loomed but never looked really likely and in the end was outgunned by ARABOLINI who stuck on dourly despite being headed a long way from home and now meets HARPO 2 kilos better off. Factor in too that HARPO is devoid of early speed and is likely to have only a couple settling behind him, if any at all. McDonald first time on the horse and Josh Parr, who we know has a great record for Baker, rides the stablemate.
Selections: 1. Harpo Marx (Top Tip), 2. Spencer, 5. Arabolini, 4. Terwilliker
Race 3:
7 and 13 early scratchings. 5 and 16 dual acceptors. NOTHING COMPARES could lead if they want to back her up from a Tuesday Moruya win. Otherwise it can be 1 from 10, 11, 6. DREAM RUNNER already has the scratchings to make the field and he has a challenge no easier than the one he had here a fortnight ago when wide throughout. An extra 300m may in fact be a positive though and he did beat many of these home on that occasion anyway. ZOO STATION was one of those but had little luck finding clear. You miss the start and these things are going to happen though. BOLD AND WILD new to the distance but racing well.
Selections: 15. Dream Runner (Top Tip), 9. Zoo Station, 1. Bold And Wild, 14. Nothing Compares
Race 4:
6 to lead 9, 5 and 1. LOVEPLANET has the McDonald booking and is appealingly lightly raced. Don;t mind the early form from his Sandown win and he has come up here to trial well, just beaten by RE EDIT. GREAT HOUSE poked along untested in that same trial. He may need some luck finding a spot here from the outside but coming down in distance and class might help him. LUNCIES was also an acceptor in Thursday’s $150K 1605m Coffs Harbour Cup. Won his latest trial easily and already proven this level so respect if here. RE EDIT has gone well fresh her latest two but they have been in Melbourne. Haven’t often seen her at her best in Sydney so fingers crossed. In no hurry to knock PAPAL WARRIOR or INVINCIANO either.
Selections: 2. Great House (Top Tip), 9. Loveplanet, 5. Papal Warrior, 1. Luncies
Race 5:
Speed from 2, 13, 5 and 3. MARGIE BEE’s recent form looks appropriate for her to approach this – her first Midway event – with some confidence. Drawn way out wide but will make light work of that draw by quickly crossing up. She has raced effectively on 7 and 8 day backups in the past and handles all conditions equally well. CASINO MONDIAL is offered 2 kilos more from his Rosehill win two weeks ago. Suitable distance rise, Bowman sticks, a bit to like. GEMMAHRA has a recent placing to Oscar Zulu and Wairere Falls, good form for this. BAZOOKA is a non-winner that seems near a win.
Selections: 2. Margie Bee (Top Tip), 5. Gemmahra, 1. Casino Mondial, 9. Bazooka
Race 6:
6 came out early. 2 and 9 were dual acceptors at preview time. Pace provided by 5 primarily. 8 handy. MORE PROPHETS started last prep with a placing this track and trip to Everest candidate Lost And Running. Just one recent trial for her but that was the case before that latest fresh run as well. She can play a big part here. IRISH ANGEL (4 starts for McDonald for 3:0:1) has spent much of her career at midweek level but can see her putting in big strides late here. TURNSTYLE will have the chance to control the speed and notch a long awaited 1200m breakthrough.
Selections: 4. More Prophets (Top Tip), 7. Irish Angel, 5. Turnstyle, 2. Starla
Race 7:
FASIKA has the chance to lead this without much fuss and her recent trial (camped wide throughout) and overall fresh form backs her up as best option. CHAT needs to step up a bit but his 2nd-up run last prep (a Silver Eagle 4th) recommends him somewhat. RIODINI was hsaping very well indeed in his early runs out here and it may simply be that he resents a wet track. Was far ahead of KOLDING in a recent trial but he is the proven multiple G1 winner here and his Expressway run says he is a winning chance for sure. VIRIDINE has been all around it since a couple of winter wins last year. Hardly potting.
Selections: 7. Fasika (Top Tip), 6. Chat, 4. Riodini, 1. Kolding
Race 8:
Several winning hopes in this secondary feature of the day. 7 males vs 3 fillies. Main speed comes from 7 and 4 with 3 tracking handy and 5 doing what he can from out wide. IN THE CONGO brings off-season form but looked solid when running past MAZU in a recent trial. Was asked there but it’s not always a bad thing. REMARQUE could pozzie handy and have last look. He has won two trials at Rosehill and looks ready to build into a top grade 3YO. PAULELE just one trial out of town but went well enough, and he’s a winner here.
Selections: 3. Remarque (Top Tip), 7. In The Congo, 2. Mazu, 1. Paulele
Race 9:
8, 10 and 13 all took earlier options. 14 is in at Flemington too. Pace from 3, 5, 6, 9, 12. Rawiller called upon for LANCASTER BOMBER. He has won both previous rides on the gelding and while they have been at Canterbury you wouldn’t line up to bag the horse for his Randwick deeds. Like where he gets to in run here too, a stalking spot most likely. SIXGUN a bit too good last week. A chance to run on again if he can back up effectively.
Selections: 1. Lancaster Bomber (Value Bet), 7. Sixgun, 4. Fastconi, 2. Hulk
Race 10:
Like ACADEMY starting the prep at 1300m. No wins last prep but further evidence he is above this level. He has beaten Icebath and Criaderas fair and square. Recent trial wins by 5 and 10L won’t put anyone off either, albeit they came against modest opposition. HANDSPUN showed a sign she was back near her best with that return. Will give most of these a start though. KINGSHEIR worth watching closely. Market says??
