The following is a survey of Australian horse racing tips for Wednesday, October 13. The focus is on the race card at Caulfield, which features four Group races. The highlight of the day is the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (Race 7).

CAPITAL LEGEND (6) Nice show finishing 2nd last start at Moonee Valley and second up from a spell. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Must be considered. RHINOCEROS (1) Solid win last time at Moonee Valley. Should muster plenty of early toe. One of the main dangers. CHEERFUL MOMENT (3) Solid win three runs back at Northam. Been in the money 4 from 5 attempts this preparation. Massive hope. DOUCEUR (5) Won narrowly three runs back at Ballarat and will try to take advantage of the gate. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Will give a big sight.
Race 2:
FLOATING ARTIST (3) Solid win last run at Sandown and won’t be far away during the run. Very tidy this preparation winning 3 from 4 starts. Rates on top. DUAIS (2) Good win three runs back at Eagle Farm and third up. Should be swooping on the field late. Capable of getting into the money. SECRET BLAZE (1) Did enough to win last start at Moonee Valley but goes up in weight. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Well placed and has solid claims. ZAYYDANI (8) Solid effort when winning three runs back at Eagle Farm and possesses very good closing speed. Up to these.
Race 3:
MANKAYAN (4) Nice show finishing 2nd last run at Kembla Grange. Always seems to find the line well. Winnable race. ALCYONE (9) Got the prize when winning two runs back at Sandown and third up. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Major claims. DURSTON (1) Finished 3rd three runs back at Newbury but fresh after a break. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the pace. Among better hopes. TOKEN SPIRIT (11) Spaced the field to win last start at Flemington and can go through the gears. Worth entertaining from a place and exotics perspective.
Race 4:
SMOKIN’ ROMANS (2) Solid effort when winning last start at Moonee Valley and very competitive this campaign. Looks to be in good shape and must go close today. ACCOUNTABILITY (10) Handy enough when winning last start at Kembla Grange and hard to fault at this distance. Key player. EMISSARY (3) Chimed in with a win three runs back at Yarmouth and third up from a break. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Each way. TARAMANSOUR (5) Got the cash when winning last time at Swan Hill but up in class. Tracking very well this preparation. Strong each way hope.
Race 5:
FRANKIE PINOT (9) Brave effort to win two runs back at Sandown and will appreciate the drop in weight. Finishes off strongly. Open to improvement and has a show in this field. AGREEABLE (13) Having second run back from a break. Ran on strongly when 2nd last time at Bendigo and possesses very good closing speed. Can’t knock. IL AFFARE (12) Finished close to 10L from the winner at Trentham last time on a good surface. Should bounce back but resumes after a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Can feature. GRINZINGER ALLEE (10) Got the upper hand late when winning three runs back at Sandown but fresh after a spell. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. Each way.
Race 6:
PROFITEER (1) Having second run back from a spell. Solid run on the pace before weakening to finish 2nd three runs back at Randwick and should be going forward early. Strongly consider. MINSK MOMENT (8) Having second run back from a break. Chimed in with a win last time at Moonee Valley but up in grade. One of the major hopes. EXTREME WARRIOR (9) Second up. Ran on strongly when 2nd three runs back here but racing in stronger company today. Warrants a bet. JIGSAW (2) Worked hard to place 2nd two runs back at Moonee Valley and displays good tactical speed. Interesting gear change of blinkers off first time. Has run into the money 3 from 4 attempts this preparation. Place chance.
Race 7:
HINGED (2) Dominant winner three runs back at Doomben and should race just behind the speed. Going well this campaign. Looks a winning hope. ZOUZARELLA (6) Showed promise when winning two runs back at Moonee Valley and can find a nice position from the draw. Expected to be flashing home. Expect to go close. BARB RAIDER (10) Handy enough when winning last run at Flemington but up against stronger competition. Likely to get a nice run behind the speed. Capable of getting into the money. ELUSIVE EXPRESS (3) Did enough to win last run at Flemington. Gets a nice run behind the speed. Has the ability to take this out.
Race 8:
SIRILEO MISS (9) Was first to greet the judge when winning last run at Sandown and third up. Very tidy this preparation winning 2 from as many attempts. Looks a suitable field and easily up to these. ONLY WORDS (1) Came on strongly when 4th last start at Moonee Valley and third up from a spell. Drawn to sit just in behind the speed. Definite winning chance. HARMONY ROSE (6) Only whacked away when 15th last run at Randwick but expecting to settle positively. One of the top hopes. BUTTER CHICKEN (12) Came on strongly to finish 2nd three runs back at the track and expected to be flashing home. Can win.

Race 1:
Nothing will surprise here. CHEERFUL MOMENT’s Victorian debut was good. Perhaps with open air he wins that race. 1600m will suit. AUDREY GIRL looks dangerous with a light weight. Even allowing for EIPH (internal bleed) she wasn’t far away in a strong maiden 1st up. She bounced back at Bendigo to win well in testing conditions. On her breeding, 1600m should be no problem. CAPITAL LEGEND was terrific 1st up behind RHINOCEROS on a track that arguably favoured the latter. No doubt if CAPITAL LEGEND trains on from that he’s a good chance. DARK REBEL’s effort in the Dulcify was okay for this level. Can forgive the Gloaming run.

Race 2:
This race looks the perfect next step for FLOATING ARTIST. He looks set for a very comfortable run on speed again. He’s been full of running at the end of his three wins, he’ll relish the step up to 2000m. SECRET BLAZE had the perfect run in transit to upset Homesman in the JRA Cup. Homesman ran a brave race in the Caulfield Stakes on Saturday. DUAIS strips fitter for her 2nd up outing at 2000m that was not run to suit. The blow out is CONSTANTINOPLE. He’s only had two starts for Aaron Purcell and they are much better than they read on paper. There was money for him in the Heatherlie and he ran well with a wide run. The Gold Nugget was similar.

Race 3:
ALCYONE is drawn to be winning his 2nd race this prep. He’s was strong chasing the in form and highly talented Mr Brightside 2nd up. That horse has won the Seymour Cup since. If he doesn’t win, it’s a raffle. MANKAYAN has been a beaten fav in NSW after his excellent Australian debut at Flemington. He’s been a length away both times so nothing wrong with the effort. Like it when this stable freshen them up. HEZASHOCKA was an eye catcher 1st up behind ALCYONE. 2000m suits him. KING’S CHARISMA was a well backed fav 1st up. He disappointed. Where there’s smoke…. REBEL RACER, DURSTON, WAR CRITIC have some hope too.

Race 4:
Competitive race. SMOKIN’ ROMANS is 2 for 2 in this distance range. As mentioned earlier, like the stable’s stayers when they freshen them up. The 61kg is his challenge. EMISSARY had an excuse is a fast race at Benalla. Sandown was good. TARAMANSOUR took his good synthetic form to the turf and won again. A victory of Lunar Flare stacks right up here. HEIR TO THE THRONE looks suited back to 2400m with weight relief. PESTO will be all the better for his latest test at 2400m. That form ties in with these. PRINCE ZIGGY is always thereabouts in these races. ACCOUNTABILITY brings some different form-lines and good form. Chris Waller horses have won this the past two years. REFLECT THE STARS maps well and ties in with them.

Race 5:
GOOD AND PROPER only needs to bounce back to her best form and she’s the one to beat. Although she vetted clear last time her rider reported she was showing signs of being in season. Her first up placing behind Turaath and Annavisto is mares form that more than measures up. FRANKIE PINOT is a danger. He is airborne. Off a moderate tempo or solid speed, he still possesses a big finish. AGREEABLE won 2nd up last prep here at 1400m. Her return was solid. IMPERIAL LAD didn’t fire back in the field at 1200m last time. He maps to be right on speed here and back to his trip. IL AFFARE makes her debut for Chris Waller. She looks highly promising.

Race 6:
Good race. Concede a nice rails trail for MINSK MOMENT when he won at MV 1st up but there’s a lot to like about him. He had to overcome interference on the home turn so he should’ve won by a lot more. He raced away from them through the line. He’s drawn for open air and most likely a different run in transit this time. The opposite goes for PORT LOUIS who finished 2nd to MINSK. He drew out there and this time draws one. He was very good against the pattern of the night. The last time PROFITEER raced over 1200m on a dry track, it took Anamoe to run him down. The pressure 1000m tempo took its toll 1st up. EXTREME WARRIOR made a brilliant return at Echuca. ATHELRIC looks suited back to 1200.

Race 7:
BARB RAIDER from a good draw will be hard to beat in a competitive Thousand Guineas. After impressing and winning easily at Sandown in a slowly run race, she adapted to a stronger tempo at Flemington winning just as well. She’s going to run a strong 1600m. HINGED boasts a terrific record finishing top-2 at 8 of her 9 starts. Her miss in the Dulcify was a complete forgive run. She brings to Melbourne the strong Gr 1 form of the Flight Stakes. ZOUZARELLA had too much to do last time when she drew wide. This time she should settle up much closer. Not underestimating QUEEN OF DUBAI who beat her home at Sandown. That win was no fluke. ELUSIVE EXPRESS is a smart filly and sure to be running on.

Race 8:
It’s not obvious who will lead here. Good race. ONLY WORDS is ready to win after her luckless run in the Stocks. Up to the 59kg is her challenge. STARELLE has to carry the 59kg too. Her return here was terrific. She maps from the tail and will need some luck. FOXY FRIDA was good 1st up behind SIRILEO MISS. It’s an awkward draw for her but any luck and she’s in the finish. HARMONY ROSE had a torrid run in the Epsom. Back to a mares’ race she’s going to be hard to beat. SIRILEO MISS is a beauty. 3rd up 1600m from a good draw is perfect. KISS AND CRY was luckless in the Stocks. She’s poorly weighted on ratings but if the showers have arrived by now she will be suited. BUTTER CHICKEN had an excuse last time.
