New Zealand Breakers vs Illawarra HawksWednesday Feb 02, 7:30pm |
New Zealand Last Three Results – L 59-83 to TAS, W 82-75 to SYD & L 78-89 to MEL
Illawarra Last Three Results – W 94-75 to CAI, L 80-94 to PER & W 100-89 to ADL
The Breakers in their latest efforts were smashed by an on-fire Tasmania side to the tune of a ruthless 83-59 score-line, that being their twelfth loss over their past seventeen H2Hs. Meanwhile for the Hawks, they proved to be the complete opposite in their 94-75 triumph over Cairns. New Zealand weren’t able to play proper Basketball in their opponents’ home court, whilst Illawarra were. Yet the Breakers are significantly better than that of what their 2-8 record suggests, so if they can get it together for this matchup then we could potentially be in for a real tough one right here.
In their latest demoralising defeat against Scott Roth’s men, Yannick Wetzell was as trusty as ever with 15PTS, whilst he’s averaging over 17PPG on the campaign. He also filled in with 3-boards, 1-steal, and 1-swat. While prior to that throughout his teams unexpected win over Sydney, he claimed 10PTS, 5REB, 1STL and 2BLK. The PF/C was introduced to the NBL via South East Melbourne and the 25-year-old has only come along in leaps and bounds since then. He won’t be the game-winner, but he could help keep his side afloat in what could potentially be a closer than anticipated matchup.
Betting tips: Illawarra to win the match at $1.31 (bet365), win Q1 at $1.52 (bet365) and for the points total to be over 161.
Adelaide 36ers vs Brisbane BulletsThursday Feb 03, 7:30pm |
Adelaide Last Three Results – W 88-83 to MEL, L 71-76 to TAS & L 89-100 to ILL
Brisbane Last Three Results – L 73-88 to S.E.M, L 82-84 to MEL and L 73-97 to BRI
With the eighth placed 36ers playing host to the seventh placed Bullets, this game is bound to produce a sterling affair. Only adding to the intensity surrounding this arguably must win encounter (for both franchises) is that their past 14 H2Hs against one another have been split right down the line, at seven wins each, dating back to February 2018. These two sides don’t like each other! It’s treated like a Derby in some regards and this one should be no different. With four wins a piece to their name and with each in desperate need to add more in order to stay in touch with the Top Four, this clash isn’t to be missed.
As Adelaide head into this clash off the back of an exciting home OT win over Melbourne, 88-83, it only seems fair to point to Dusty Hannahs as the key player for this match. Coming off the bench against United his stats included 19PTS, 3REB and 1AST, in under twenty-minutes of playing time. With this clash expected to be close, he could be the difference maker that provides a much-needed electric surge for some of the 36ers tired starters.
Daniel Johnson could also prove to be another as he was his old, dependable self with 12PTS, 12REB and 1AST. His ability to draw contact from his defenders was also critical for Adelaide throughout the unexpected result. The 2X NBL Rebounding Leader is continuously relentless at what he does, and he rarely wavers from his assigned tasks. How the Bullets counter him will also have a strong result on the game.
Betting tips: pick Adelaide to triumph at 1.97 (bet365), as well as win Q4 + for the combined match points to be over 161.
Tasmania JackJumpers vs Sydney KingsFriday Feb 04, 7:30pm |
Tasmania Last Three Results – W 83-59 to NZL, W 76-71 to ADL & L 63-76 to S.E.M
Sydney Last Three Results – W 96-81 to PER, W 97-73 to BRI & L 96-87 to BRI
The JackJumpers jumped high, higher, and even higher in their demolition job victory over the Breakers at MyState Bank Arena, triumphing 83-59. Josh Magette was on fire as he led the team with 22PTS, which included him shooting 7/11 from deep, as well as 5REB and 8AST. Meanwhile for the Kings, they put on a show at Qudos Bank Arena, winning 96-81. It was their first win over the Wildcats since they beat them in G2 of the Finals under Will Weaver. With ‘Tassie’ hitting their stride as of late and Sydney displaying some vintage form, this match could reach unexpected new heights. Don’t expect to be disappointed by tuning into this one.
Former All-NBA G League First Team member Jaylen Adams torched Perth in his debut game vs Scott Morrison’s men. He bagged 30PTS, while also making 6 3s from beyond the arc. That was in addition to his 7REB, 9AST, 2STL and 2BLK! Prior to that against Brisbane he had 17PTS, on 53.8% shooting from the floor, as well as 5REB, 6AST and 1BLK. Whether he’s driving it inside for the tough layup, or draining impossible shots from deep, his game has improved crazily since RD1, and Sydney are absolutely benefitting from it in all sorts of ways. If Tasmania want any hope of claiming a shock victory, then they have to close him down asap, otherwise the game might already be over come HT.
Betting tips: When the match odds are updated choose Sydney to win Q1’S 1 & 2, as well as picking them to prevail by 10+ points, or perhaps 20+ for a still somewhat likely result.
Best Bets of the Round: Illawarra to win the match at $1.31 (bet365), win Q1 at $1.52 (bet365) and for the points total to be over 161.
