Melbourne vs. Essendon |
Melbourne have won four of their last five against Essendon and they bring a nine-game winning streak into this game spanning this season and the last. Melbourne have won five straight at home and they covered the line in their last four home fixtures. I would back Melbourne in the head-to-head at 1.21 (bet365).
Collingwood vs. Geelong |
I expect Geelong will win but Collingwood will be competitive. Geelong have gone 6-1 on the back of a defeat over the last 12 months and they went 6-1 at the MCG in 2021. The Cats have won four straight away from home against the Pies. Collingwood have gone 2-8 at home over the last 12 months while Geelong have gone 6-1 as the away favourite. Geelong have won six of the last eight when installed as the away favourite against Collingwood. I would back Geelong in the head-to-head at 1.47 (Picklebet). Geelong’s last four wins over Collingwood were by 1-24 points and Collingwood look improved under new coach Craig McRae, so those looking for more risk should consider Geelong 1-39 at 2.10 (Sportsbet) or Geelong 1-24 at 3.10 (bet365).
