At the time of writing the biggest Draftstars contest for this round is a $75,000 competition for Carlton vs. Melbourne on Thursday night. Entry costs $15 and the top 25% of participants will receive a payout.
Geelong vs. Melbourne |
Wet weather is forecast for Thursday night and the average total score at GMHBA Stadium this season is 148.4. This fixture sees the competition’s 3rd best defence in Geelong take on the best defence in Melbourne. The Demons’ average total score this season is 151.3 and their last six away games have gone under the total. I would back under 157.5 total points at 1.91 (Picklebet).
Collingwood vs. North Melbourne |
North Melbourne’s last eleven games all ended in defeat by 40+ points. Collingwood, like Geelong last week, will be looking to boost their percentage with a big win. I would back Collingwood 40+ at 1.34 (BlueBet).
St Kilda v Fremantle |
St Kilda have won seven of their last nine home games against Fremantle, including the last three. The Saints beat the Dockers in Perth earlier in the season and they now face them at Marvel Stadium, where St Kilda have gone 5-2 both in the head-to-head and the line this season. Fremantle, on the other hand, have lost seven of their last nine visits to Marvel Stadium. I would back St Kilda in the head-to-head at 1.87 (bet365).
Port Adelaide vs. GWS |
GWS have lost eight of their last twelve games and it’s fair to say they’ve been consistent. All four wins were against sides ranked below them and all eight defeats were to sides ranked above. Port Adelaide sit above GWS in the standings and the Power have won five consecutive home games. Port Adelaide have gone 7-2 as the home favourite over the last twelve months. GWS have covered the line in their last four away games and they have only suffered one 40+ away defeat over the last twelve months, so I’m not expecting a blowout. I would back Port Adelaide 1-39 at 2.05 (Unibet).
Brisbane vs. Essendon |
Brisbane have won 15 of their last 16 games at the Gabba and they have won three on the trot against Essendon. The Bombers upset Sydney in Melbourne last week but much of that result was due to the Swans’ inefficiency in front of goal. Essendon have gone 2-7 as the away underdog over the last twelve months and they covered the line in just three of those games. The Bombers have yet to win outside of Melbourne this season. I would back Brisbane in the head-to-head at 1.18 (bet365, BlueBet).
