Newcastle Jets v Macarthur FC7:45pm AEST, McDonald Jones Stadium |
Both Newcastle and Macarthur are currently locked on 26 points a piece. Both sides have also won just 7/23 matches on the season. And with each of the two teams sitting just three points outside of the Top Six, this is an absolutely must win clash in order for them to salvage something from their respective campaigns. For the hosting Jets Angus Thurgate simply must come to play. With the 23-year-old rumoured to be departing the ‘Novocastrian’s’ over the off-season, it’s now or never for the former Australia U20s international to flex his muscle. Because throughout the 25 total encounters he’s featured in this season both in the league, as well as the Australia Cup, he’s conjured up just two goals alongside zero assists. This simply isn’t good enough! However he can’t go any worse than competing against the ‘Bulls’ who have leaked 28 goals on the road from their last 11 matchups right? Rivalling Thurgate in the Midfield will be Danny De Silva, a Man with just one goal and zero assists from 17 matches completed in the A-League season. These two teams are without a shred of a doubt terrible enough that the two woefully performing Midfielders can potentially play themselves into form against one others side. Will it happen however is an entirely different question and one that we’ll have to wait to find out the answer.
Latest results; Newcastle lost 3-0 vs Brisbane @ Dolphin Stadium and Macarthur drew 2-2 vs Western Sydney @ Campbelltown Stadium.
Latest H2H; Newcastle won 1-0 @ Campbelltown Stadium.
Betting tips: Look for both sides to get on the score sheet at $1.52 (BlueBet)
Also look for the total corners to be at nine + at $1.25 (Bet365)

Central Coast Mariners v Melbourne City5:00pm AEST, Industree Group Stadium |
Richard Peil recently came out talking about Jason Cummings and cover your ears Mariners fans because this isn’t great. The club Director admitted that once this current season is done and dusted the ‘Cum Dog’ as he’s affectionately known may be moving onto greener pastures, literally, as there are potential offers afloat overseas worth lots of dough to the Socceroos Striker. However regardless of whatever eventuates one thing is clear and that’s the fact that Cummings loves playing for this team. So I’ll be backing him to have one hell of a performance against Rado Vidosic’s Men. And why wouldn’t he? The 2023 World Cup rep has fashioned eight goals from his last 10 A-League appearances. With the Central Coast playing for 2nd-spot on the ladder you can guarantee the former Ranger will come to play in front of his adoring home supporters. However it won’t be all roses and chocolates with his ‘Aussie’ teammate at the World Cup in the form of Marco Tilio also in some scintillating form at the moment. In Melbourne’s 4-1 home thrashing of Wellington last round he produced the affairs final two strikes, including one absolute screamer. The 21-year-old just like Cummings will be leading his teams attack like an absolute spear. Saturday afternoon can not come quick enough!
Latest results; The Central Coast won 3-0 vs Western United @ Mars Stadium and Melbourne won 4-1 vs Wellington @ AAMI Park.
Latest H2H; Melbourne won 1-0 @ AAMI Park.
Betting tips: Look for there to be over 2.5 goals at $1.50 (Bet365)
Also look for City to score first at $1.72 (Bet365)
Western Sydney Wanderers v Melbourne Victory7:45pm AEST, CommBank Stadium |
Western Sydney and Melbourne are rivals who hate each other, make no two guesses about that! The ‘Red & Black’ have achieved what the ‘Vuck’ never could quite reach, an illusive Asian Champions League trophy. Whilst the Victory have done the same, winning several A-League championships. Something in which the Wanderers have also previously been on the verge of achieving. The Man who led Western Sydney to that famous two-legged triumph in Riyadh is now the Man leading the helm in Melbourne in the form of Tony Popovic. Whilst Terry Antonis, a superstar who repped the Victory for 40+ appearances is now donning the colour of the hosts. As is Lawrence Thomas, the former victory turned Wanderers Goal Keeper. There is a bunch of things that make the hatred boom between these two rivals! And out on the pitch the love is never lost, this as eight of their last 11 matchups against one another have either been A; A draw, or B; Decided by just a one-strike margin. Going back to early 2021 in what was a thrilling clash at Marvel Stadium, headed into the 76th-minute the Victory led 5-1, before three quick-fire goals from the visitors meant that Melbourne would win 5-4 on the day. As each side shot a cool eight attempts on target. You just never know what this type of affair will throw up, but if it’s anything like that faithful encounter, then regardless of how this rivalry plays out we should be in for a treat.
Latest results; Western Sydney drew 2-2 vs Macarthur @ Campbelltown Stadium and Melbourne drew 0-0 vs Perth @ AAMI Park.
Latest H2H; Western Sydney won 1-0 @ AAMI Park.
Betting tip: Back a Western Sydney victory at $2.16 (BoomBet)

Wellington Phoenix v Brisbane Roar1:00pm AEST, Eden Park |
Wellington have lost their last three straight games on the trot, meanwhile Brisbane haven’t been faring much better as of late, having gone down in three of their last five clashes. The ‘Nix’ however can still finish as high as 3rd on the ladder, whilst Finals Football isn’t out of the equation for the Roar either, after their 3-0 dismantling of the Jets last weekend at Dolphin Stadium. So this magical clash is full of infinite possibilities! However Brisbane will have to play to their strengths as recent history works heavily against them. This is because that from their last nine matchups against Wellington, they have triumphed in a grand total of two of those affairs. The latest of which was around a year ago. Meanwhile the last time that the Roar posted back-to-back dubs versus the Phoenix was way, way, way back in 2013/14! To the visitors credit however in their demolition job of Newcastle they went 6/18 on target, despite only owning 39% possession of the ball. If they can do that against Ufuk Talay & Co then they will tear them to shreds. Wellington can impressively counter though, given they’ve won five and drawn four of their total 12 home appearances this campaign. Look for neither team to take a backwards step in what should be a hugely lively affair!
Latest results; Wellington lost 4-1 vs Melbourne City @ AAMI Park and Brisbane won 3-0 vs Newcastle @ Dolphin Stadium.
Latest H2H; Wellington won 1-0 @ Dolphin Stadium.
Betting tip: Back there to be eight + corners throughout at $1.18 (Bet365)
Sydney FC v Perth Glory3:00pm AEST, Allianz Stadium |
Sydney’s latest encounter saw them travel to South Australia where they had to vs the ‘Reds’ in front of a packed house inside of Coopers Stadium. Thankfully however for the visiting ‘Sky Blues’, a smart 83rd-minute right-footed finish from the ever lethal Englishman Adam Le Fondre saw both teams share the spoils in what was a highly entertaining 1-1 draw. A crucial point for Sydney which still has them currently sitting inside the Top Six. As for the Glory they could perhaps consider themselves a tad unlucky as they travelled to AAMI Park, a tough venue, where they had to also settle for a point, courtesy of their nail biting 0-0 draw against the Victory. Owning only 39% of the ball throughout the encounter certainly made things difficult for Perth, as did Mark Beever’s silly red card late on in their matchup against their former head honcho, Tony Popovic. And with the ‘Sky Blues’ currently in 6th on 29 points and the Glory just one position and one point behind in 7th and on 28, this game should be an absolute cracker! Adam Le Fondre upon his return for Sydney showed no signs of his previous injury slowing him down, meanwhile it was former Sydney boy Luke Ivanovic who started up front for Perth against Melbourne. Can the student take down the master? Everything is on the line in this exciting Allianz Stadium Mens/Woman Double Header.
Latest results; Sydney drew 1-1 vs Adelaide @ Coopers Stadium and Perth drew 0-0 vs the Melbourne Victory @ AAMI Park.
Latest H2H; They drew 2-2 @ Macedonia Park.
Betting tips: Look for a Sydney FC dub at $1.70 (BlueBet)
Also look for Adam Le Fondre to score any time at $1.69 (BoomBet)
Adelaide United v Western United5:00pm AEST, Coopers Stadium |
The last two games between these two sides alone have produced 11 goals! In addition throughout three of their last four clashes in South Australia, Adelaide have scored five goals once and four goals twice, in what was a 5-1 dub vs Wellington, a 4-2 dub vs City and a 4-4 draw vs the Wanderers. The ‘Green & Black’ meanwhile drew their last clash on the road 3-3 against Sydney at Allianz Stadium. Whilst just two games prior they smashed the Jets 3-1 at McDonald Jones Stadium. So suffice to say both sides are experiencing a rich vein of goal scoring form at the moment! But who will come out on top in this mountainous affair? Craig Goodwin has 11 goals + 10 assists this season for the ‘Reds’, as he is the first player to register double in both departments since Aaron Mooy did it in the A-League back in 2015/16. Meanwhile Lachlan Wales has four goals this season for the visitors, alongside 21 shot assists. As the 25-year-old has shone through despite his sides struggles out on the field. Wales will definitely be in for a tough assignment versus Goodwin. However Wales, the former Melbourne City starlet, has displayed throughout his career that he is more than capable of taking on the tough and the best that Australia has to offer. This battle should go a long way to deciding this should be nail-biting encounter.
Latest results; Adelaide drew 1-1 vs Sydney @ Coopers Stadium and Western United lost 3-0 to the Central Coast @ Mars Stadium.
Latest H2H; Adelaide won 3-2 @ AAMI Park.
Betting tips: Choose an Adelaide triumph at $1.69 (BoomBet)
Also choose there to be over 3.5 goals at $2.10 (Bet365)
