At the time of writing the biggest Draftstars contest for this round is the $60,000 competition for the Thursday night clash between Sydney and the Western Bulldogs. Entry costs $15 and the top 25% of participants will receive a payout.
Sydney vs. Western Bulldogs |
Sydney have not lost by 25+ at home over the last twelve months and they have only suffered this fate once at the hands of the Western Bulldogs in the last decade. Five of the Bulldogs’ six away wins over the last twelve months were by 1-24 margins. The Bulldogs have gone 3-7 at the line following a defeat over the last twelve months. I would back Sydney +25.5 at 1.18 (bet365).
Collingwood vs. Fremantle |
The head-to-head odds on Collingwood are painfully short, so I will focus on the first quarter market. Fremantle have the league-worst 2-14 first quarter record this season (yes, even worse than West Coast!). Away from home, the Dockers have gone 0-7 in the first quarter this campaign. Collingwood, meanwhile, have gone 6-1-1 in the first quarter as the home side this season. I would back Collingwood to win the first quarter at 1.28 (PlayUp).
Carlton vs. Port Adelaide |
Carlton have won three in a row, but those wins were all against sides below them on the table. Prior to that the Blues lost six on the trot and they have gone 1-4 as the home underdog over the last twelve months. Port Adelaide, meanwhile, bring a 13-game winning streak into this game. Since 2021 the Power have gone 10-0 both in the head-to-head and the line at Marvel Stadium. They have gone 3-0 as the away favourite over the last twelve months. I would back Port Adelaide in the head-to-head at 1.70 (Dabble). All seven of Carlton’s home defeats over the last twelve months were by 1-39 points, while five of Port Adelaide’s seven away wins were by the same margin, so those looking for more risk should consider Port Adelaide 1-39 at 2.30 (PlayUp).
Geelong vs. Essendon |
Geelong have gone 10-2 at home over the last twelve months. They have gone 12-2 at GMHBA Stadium since the start of 2022 and they have won 14 on the trot as the home side against Essendon. The Bombers have gone 1-6 as the away underdog over the last twelve months and they failed to cover the line in their last four away games against the Cats. I would back Geelong in the head-to-head at 1.35 (Bet Right). Six of Essendon’s seven away defeats over the last twelve months were by 1-39 points, so those looking for more risk should consider Geelong 1-39 at 2.20 (PlayUp).
North Melbourne vs. Hawthorn |
Hawthorn are the superior team out of these two developing sides. North Melbourne have lost 14 in a row and they have conceded an eye-watering 106.4 points per game this season. Hawthorn have won three of their last seven games and they have won three on the trot against North Melbourne. The Hawks have gone 3-0 as the favourite over the last twelve months. I would back Hawthorn in the head-to-head at 1.50 (bet365. Six of North Melbourne’s nine home defeats over the last twelve months were by 1-39 points and 11 of Hawthorn’s last 14 wins over the Kangaroos were by the same margin, so those looking for more risk should consider Hawthorn 1-39 at 2.20 (PlayUp).
