Nottingham Forest vs. Sheffield United |
Nottingham Forest in the head-to-head at 1.96 (Betfair)
Nottingham Forest finished last season with three consecutive home wins. Buoyed by their vocal home crowd, they finished with the 10th best home record last season. Sheffield United could only manage one shot on target in their home defeat to Crystal Palace last week. The Blades have been hampered early in the season by having seven players out injured.
Fulham vs. Brentford |
Over 2.5 goals at 1.95 (Bet Right)
Over the last twelve months, 13 of Fulham’s 18 home games went over the total, including the last four. The two fixtures between Fulham and Brentford last season saw 5 goals each. While Brentford are without the suspended Ivan Toney until mid-January, they won four of the five games they played without him last season and they still have two capable forwards in Mbeumo and Wissa, who both scored last week in their 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
Man City vs. Newcastle |
Man City in the head-to-head at 1.64 (Betfair)
I backed Newcastle last week based on their tremendous home record against Aston Villa. This week I’m betting against them based on their terrible record at Etihad Stadium. Manchester City have won 14 consecutive home games against Newcastle, which is a streak that started in 2007. You have to go back to 2000 for the last time that City lost at home in the league to the Magpies. Both home and away, Man City have gone 6-1-0 in their last seven against Newcastle. Man City have gone 16-1-1 at home over the last twelve months and they finished last season by winning ten consecutive home games.
Aston Villa vs. Everton |
Aston Villa in the head-to-head at 1.71 (Betfair)
Aston Villa to win to nil at 2.68 (BoomBet)
Aston Villa finished last season by winning seven consecutive home games. They boast a 9-1-2 record as the home favourite over the last twelve months. Everton can’t buy a goal at the moment and they have lost four consecutive games to Aston Villa – three without scoring. Since they were promoted back into the Premier League in 2019, Aston Villa have held the Toffees scoreless in three of their four meetings at Villa Park. With the data set I have at hand, Aston Villa have gone 5-1-0 as the favourite against Everton. Over the last twelve months, all seven of Everton’s away defeats were to nil.
Aston Villa +0.5 at 1.21 (Betfair)
Everton went 2-9-8 away from home last season.
Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal |
Arsenal in the head-to-head at 1.60 (Betfair)
Arsenal completed the double over Crystal Palace last season by scoring a combined six goals to one. The Gunners went 9-3-2 as the away favourite over the last twelve months while the Eagles went 0-4-3 as the home underdog. Crystal Palace are having to make do without the injured Michael Olise at the moment.
