Waratahs vs. Chiefs |
My tip is for the Chiefs to win this game and the Waratahs to cover the line. The Highlanders only won by a 3-point margin in Sydney this season and the Blues only won by two points. The Chiefs have gone 0-3 away from home this season and that included a 6-point defeat to the Reds in Brisbane. The line has been set at +14.5 and it’s worth noting that all four of the Waratahs’ home defeats over the last twelve months were by 1-12 margins. The Waratahs have gone 2-0 at the line as the home underdog over the last twelve months. The Chiefs, meanwhile, have failed to cover the line in their three away defeats this season. The Chiefs won this fixture by a 10-point margin last season. I would back the Waratahs +14.5 at 1.91 (bet365). Those looking for more risk should consider the Chiefs 1-12 at 3.25 (Unibet).
Fijian Drua vs. Moana Pasifika |
Moana Pasifika beat the Fijian Drua by a 3-point margin at AAMI Park earlier this year, but the Drua are a different beast on Fijian soil, where only the table-topping Hurricanes have been able to defeat them this season. The Drua have gone 3-0 as the home favourite over the last twelve months. Moana Pasifika upset the Reds in Whangarei last week, but they lost 12-68 to the Chiefs the week prior and 8-47 to the Blues the week before that. I would back the Fijian Drua in the head-to-head at 1.22 (PlayUp).
Reds vs. Blues |
The round concludes with a battle of the primary colours as the Reds host the Blues. The Reds thrashed the Highlanders at home last week, but prior to that they had lost three on the trot, including to Moana Pasifika. The Blues are 7-1 for the season and their only defeat was away against the table-topping Hurricanes. The Blues have gone 13-1 as the favourite over the last twelve months and they have both won and covered the line in their last four games. The Blues won this fixture by a 19-point margin last season and they have not lost at Suncorp Stadium since 2018. I would back the Blues in the head-to-head at 1.33 (bet365).
