At the time of writing the biggest Draftstars contest for this round is the $60,000 competition for the Thursday night clash between Adelaide and Port Adelaide. Entry costs $15 and the top 25% of participants will receive a payout.

Carlton

Carlton vs. Collingwood

Collingwood

One obvious betting candidate for this game is to back both Carlton 1-39 at 2.25 (Unibet) and Collingwood 1-39 at 2.80 (Unibet). Over the last twelve months, all ten of Carlton’s defeats were by 1-39 margins, while the same can be said for all seven of Collingwood’s defeats. Another bet with appeal is Under 180.5 at 1.75 (Dabble). Since 2023, Carlton’s average total score at the MCG has been 149.8. This has seen eight of their twelve games at this venue go under the total. Collingwood also have a lower than league average of 163.3 at the MCG over the same period. The five most recent meetings between Carlton and Collingwood all went under 169.5 and four of those five went under 154.5.

Sydney

Sydney vs. GWS

GWS

This should be an excellent contest. Sydney haven’t lost at home by more than 24 over the last twelve months and their three most recent home defeats to GWS were by 1 or 2 point margins. At the same time, GWS look too good this season to fall by a heavy margin to Sydney. Wet weather is forecast all week and throughout the weekend in Sydney, which explains the low bookmaker total of 148.5, and this further decreases the chance of a blowout. Five of the last seven meetings between Sydney and GWS were settled by 20 points or less. I would back Sydney 1-24 at 3.20 (Dabble) and GWS 1-24 at 3.40 (Dabble).

Melbourne

Melbourne vs. Geelong

Geelong

This should be a competitive contest. Both sides have lost nine times over the last twelve months and all of those defeats were by 1-39 margins. I would back both Melbourne 1-39 at 2.50 (Unibet) and Geelong 1-39 at 2.32 (Unibet).

Richmond

Richmond vs. Fremantle

Fremantle

This is a value play. Richmond have lost four games this season in which they have led at halftime. Fremantle have trailed at first quarter time in five of their seven games this season, but they boast a dominant 5-2 record in the third quarter. I would back the Richmond/Fremantle HT/FT selection at 6.50 (BoomBet).
