At the time of writing the biggest Draftstars contest for this round is the $50,000 competition for the Friday night clash between Carlton and Port Adelaide. Entry costs $15 and the top 25% of participants will receive a payout.

Gold Coast

Gold Coast vs. Brisbane

Brisbane

The Gold Coast Suns have won and covered the line in their last seven home fixtures. The Brisbane Lions bring a 3-0 winning streak away from home into this clash, however they have gone 2-6 at the line as the away favourite over the last twelve months. The Suns won this fixture 96-55 last season. They have only lost one home game by 25+ over the last twelve months, while 4 of the Lions’ six away wins were by 1-24 margins. I would back Gold Coast +25.5 in the alternative line market at 1.37 (bet365).

St Kilda

St Kilda vs. Essendon

Essendon

Over the last twelve months, 22 of St Kilda’s 24 games were settled by 1-39 point margins. Narrowing it down further, only 3 of their 14 defeats were by 25+ margins. Only one of Essendon’s 12 wins over the last twelve months was by 40+ and only 3 were by 25+. The two sides’ most recent meeting in March was settled by 4 points. I would place 0.6 units on St Kilda 1-39 at 2.60 (Dabble) and 0.4 units on Essendon 1-24 at 3.40 (Dabble).

Fremantle

Fremantle vs. West Coast

West Coast

Fremantle have gone 7-3 at the line as the favourite over the last twelve months. They have covered the line in their last three home games. West Coast bring an 8-game losing streak into this clash. Over the last twelve months 8 of their 9 defeats as the listed away team resulted in a 25+ margin defeat. There is an element of revenge in this game given that West Coast upset Fremantle in April. Prior to that Fremantle had won five in a row against the Eagles. Their four most recent wins over the Eagles were by 25+ margins and their most recent win was by a 101-point margin. I would back Fremantle 25+ at 1.46 (Dabble).
