Auckland FC vs Wellington Phoenix

Saturday November 07, 3:00pm
Mt Smart Stadium

Wellington Phoenix

Auckland FC have won their first five games of their inaugural campaign and have yet to concede a single goal, the most recent of which was a 2-0 thumping against the Newcastle Jets at Mt Smart Stadium. A classy performance which saw them own 55% possession of the ball and shoot 6/17 on target. They face off against Wellington at home in what is just the second ever instalment of the New Zealand Derby. The Phoenix being a side who earned a Top Four birth last season, are less then two wins off the top now and have won their last two affairs 1-0 and 3-0 against the Victory and Mariners respectively. You couldn’t have possibly written the script any better than this as both sides continue to stake their claim as the number one sporting team in the country.

Jake Brimmer the ever influential Midfielder for the ‘Black Knights’ will be a looming presence as he scored in the 89th and 90+6th minutes in the two teams first ever meeting against one another in what was a tense and fist-clenching 2-0 Auckland victory away from home in front of over 26,000 raucous spectators.

Betting tips: Back both teams to score at $1.92 (Dabble)

Also back 1+ goals to be scored in both H1 and H2 at $1.80 (bet365)

Newcastle Jets

Newcastle Jets vs Adelaide United

Saturday December 07, 5:00pm
McDonald Jones Stadium

Adelaide United

The Jets are in a really, really rough patch as of late having lost their last three matches in a row, having conceded eight goals in the process. Whereas for Adelaide they are undefeated in their last four games (three wins + one draw), having conjured up 11 goals. Over the course of their consecutive defeats Newcastle have also attempted just three, two and three shots on target. If they are to have any chance of beating this extremely dependable ‘Reds’ outfit then it will have to be their young Attackers who step up to the plate. 21-year-old Ben Gibson has two assists so far for his new team, after producing 19 goals in 14 games for APIA Leichhardt last season. Whilst 22-year-old Eli Adams tore Macarthur to shreds not that long ago and has two strikes for the campaign. These young talents are far from household names however Rob Stanton has shown throughout his tenure in the Hunter Valley that he’s not afraid to give capable Kids a fair shot at success. Against a somewhat similarly young Adelaide side they may just shine through.

It’ll be far from an easy task for the Jets though as Adelaide have prevailed in eight of their last nine clashes against them. Regardless of who takes out the chocolates however, everything in this game points to it raining down goals.

Betting tips: Pick a closely contested Adelaide win at $1.89 (UniBet)

Also look for the ‘Reds’ to open the scoring at $1.53 (bet365)

And look for both teams to score at least once each at $1.45 (Dabble, BoomBet)

Western United

Western United vs Macarthur FC

Saturday December 07, 6:00pm
Ironbark Fields

Macarthur FC

Western United host Macarthur with both teams being far better then that of what their respective ladder positions suggest so far this season. The ‘Green & Black’ currently reside in 10th on the ladder and the ‘Bulls’ in 7th. John Aloisi’s Men last round fought valiantly against the Victory in what was a two-goal defeat at AAMI Park. Whilst Mile Sterjovski’s Men claimed a share of the spoils in what was a highly entertaining 4-4 draw against the Roar at home. Valere Germain thought he had snatched the winner seven-minutes from full-time however an unfortunate own goal in injury time gave the visitors something to be elated about. And although I expect another spirited performance from Western United at home in this exciting clash, Marin Jakolis (four goals + two assists this season) and Germain (three goals + one assist this season) combined might be a tad too good for their inexperienced opposition to handle.

Interestingly three of the last four games played between these two sides have ended 4-2 in Western United’s favour, 3-3 and 2-2. If promising ‘Green & Black’ Striker Noah Botic can build off his first goal of the season from last weekend against the Victory then there’s every chance that the hosts will push Macarthur all the way in a high-scoring affair, however if not then look for the reigning Australia Cup winners to play some pulsatingly good Football.

Betting tips: Look for both teams to score at $1.46 (Betr, Dabble)

However you can also look for a ‘Bulls’ victory at $2.75 (Betr)

And of course pick Valere Germain to score anytime at $2.75 (UniBet)
