Newcastle

Newcastle vs. Aston Villa

Aston Villa

Newcastle in the head-to-head at 1.97 (Betfair)
Newcastle +0.5 at 1.32 (Betfair)

Newcastle come into this fixture on the back of two consecutive 4-0 wins. Aston Villa have won three of their last four, but all three wins were at home. The Villans have lost four consecutive away games. Aston Villa have also lost their last three visits to St. James’ Park. Their last two visits resulted in 4-0 and 5-1 defeats. Since promotion back into the Premier League, Aston Villa have a winless 0-4-7 record at St. James’ Park. Newcastle have lost just two of twelve games as the home favourite over the last twelve months.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth vs. Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace

Bournemouth in the head-to-head at 1.96 (Betfair)
Bournemouth +0.5 at 1.30 (Betfair)

Bournemouth bring 4-1-0 form into this clash and they completed the double over Crystal Palace last season. Already without Adam Wharton due to injury, Palace were forced to leave the injured Eberechi Eze out of the squad over the weekend and were thrashed 5-1 by Arsenal. Bournemouth have only suffered two defeats out of twelve as the home favourite over the last twelve months, while Crystal Palace have only won two games out of fifteen as the away favourite.

Liverpool

Liverpool vs. Leicester

Leicester

Liverpool in the head-to-head at 1.11 (Betfair)
Liverpool -1.5 at 1.31 (Betfair)

Leicester City limp into this fixture on the back of 4-0 and 3-0 defeats to Newcastle and Wolverhampton, respectively. In just eight away games, the Foxes have conceded an eye-watering 22 goals for a -12 goal difference. Liverpool put six past Tottenham over the weekend and it could have easily been more. I do expect them to rotate the squad, but this shouldn’t affect the outcome. Four of Leicester City’s five away defeats this season were by 2+ goals. Over the last twelve months, 11 of Liverpool’s 14 home wins were by 2+ goals, so I will take the Reds at the handicap. Eight of those wins were by exactly two goals, so I have opted for -1.5 instead of -2.5.

Brighton

Brighton vs. Brentford

Brentford

Brighton +0.5 at 1.23 (Betfair)

Brighton have lost just one of twelve games as the home favourite over the last twelve months. Brentford have gone 0-1-7 away from home this season.

Brighton to win by 1 goal at 4.00 (bet365)

Five of Brighton’s seven home wins over the last twelve months were by one goal. Nine of Brentford’s fourteen away defeats over the same period were by one goal. Brentford’s goal difference from their 0-1-7 away record this season is -10, which is not a mile away from -7.

Arsenal

Arsenal vs. Ipswich

Ipswich

Arsenal in the head-to-head at 1.17 (Betfair)
Arsenal -1.5 at 1.45 (bet365)

Arsenal broke free of their shackles by thrashing Crystal Palace 5-1 over the weekend. Over the last twelve months, 11 of their 13 home wins were by 2+ goal margins. Looking at just this season, Arsenal’s last six wins were by 2+ goal margins. While Bukayo Saka will be out for this clash, Arsenal have been boosted by the recent goal scoring form of Gabriel Jesus. The high frequency of fixtures has taken its toll on Ipswich, who were lucky to lose by just four goals to Newcastle on the weekend.
