Super Rugby Pacific – Round 2 Betting Tips

The following are betting tips for selected fixtures in Round 2 of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.

The three talking points from Round 1 were:

  1. Comebacks. Four of the five winners trailed at halftime.
  2. High scoring. Four of the five games went over the total. The average total score was 65.4.
  3. Low winning margins. All five games were won by 1-12 points.

There are far more lopsided games on paper this round, so we might not see a repeat of #3, but it will be interesting if #1 and #2 persist into Round 2.

To take advantage of the odds before they possibly shorten, these previews are published before the team sheets are announced. Those who are more risk-averse should wait for the squad lists before wagering.

In addition to the tips below, keep an eye out on the total score markets when they are released later in the week. The average total score last week was 65.4, with a median total of 68.0.

Reds

Reds vs. Moana Pasifika

Moana Pasifika

The Reds had an unfortunately-timed bye last week, while Moana Pasifika blew a 17-3 early lead and a 44-31 lead with six minutes remaining to lose 44-45 to the Force in Perth. The Reds went 4-1 as the home favourite last year, while Moana Pasifika bring a six-game losing streak away from home into this clash. There will be an element of revenge in this, given the Reds suffered a shock away defeat to Moana Pasifika last year. The Reds should be a step up from the rebuilding Force, so I expect they will win, but Moana Pasifika were competitive both last week and in pre-season against Kiwi opposition, so this may not be a blowout. I would back the Reds in the head-to-head at 1.19 (PlayUp). Those looking for more risk should consider the Reds 1-12 at 2.70 (bet365).

Hurricanes

Hurricanes vs. Fijian Drua

Fijian Drua

This is primarily a bet against the terrible away form of the Fijian Drua. They went 0-8 away from Fiji last season and six of those defeats were by 13+ margins. The Hurricanes thrashed the Drua 38-15 in Suva last season and their previous meeting on New Zealand soil saw the Hurricanes run out 67-5 victors. The under-strength Brumbies managed to come away from Fiji with a win last week, which doesn’t bode well for the Drua’s season. I would back the Hurricanes in the head-to-head at 1.10 (PlayUp). Those looking for more risk should consider the Hurricanes 13+ at 1.57 (bet365).

Highlanders

Highlanders vs. Blues

Blues

The Highlanders have a horrific record against New Zealand opposition in recent years. In the last three seasons they have a total of just one win against a Kiwi opponent. The Blues have won eight in a row against the Southern side. Both sides suffered defeats last week, but the Blues went 3-0 on the back of a loss last season. The Blues v Chiefs game last week was of a much higher quality than the Waratahs v Highlanders fixture. The fact that the Highlanders leaked 37 points in that match doesn’t bode well. I would back the Blues in the head-to-head at 1.22 (PlayUp). Five of the Blues’ last six away wins over the Highlanders were by 1-12 points, so those looking for more risk should consider the Blues 1-12 at 2.70 (bet365).

Brumbies

Brumbies vs. Force

Force

The Force fielded a virtually full-strength squad against the Brumbies in their final pre-season game, but were still thrashed 45-12. The Brumbies went 8-0 at home last season, while the Force went 0-7 away from home. Looking at line data, the Brumbies went 6-2 at the line at home last season, while the Force went 2-5 at the line away from Perth and five of those wins were by 13+ margins. The Brumbies’ wins over the Force last season were by 3 and 5 points, however, so I’m on the fence regarding the 1-12/13+ market. I would simply back the Brumbies in the head-to-head at 1.15 (PlayUp).

Multis

The 4-leg multi for the Reds, Hurricanes, Blues and Brumbies to win is 1.83 (PlayUp).

The 3-leg multi for the Reds 1-12, Hurricanes 13+ and Blues 1-12 is 11.44 (bet365).
