Super Rugby Pacific – Round 8 Betting Tips

The following are betting tips for selected fixtures in Round 8 of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.

There are only four fixtures this weekend due to three teams having a bye week.

To take advantage of the odds before they possibly shorten, these previews are published before the team sheets are announced. Those who are more risk-averse should wait for the squad lists before wagering.

Chiefs

Chiefs vs. Reds

Reds

The round kicks off with a top-of-the-table clash. Both sides are 5-1 this season, but the Red sit top courtesy of an additional bonus point. The bookmakers aren’t showing much love to the Queenslanders in this game, however, and the stats explain why. The Chiefs have 6-1 in the head-to-head and 5-2 at the line at home over the last twelve months. Five of those six home wins were by 13+ margins. The Reds, meanwhile, have failed to cover the line in their last six away games. The Chiefs come into this game on the back of a bye, while the Reds played a physical clash against the Force in wet conditions last week. Three of the Reds’ four away defeats over the last twelve months were by 8+ margins. I would back the Chiefs in the head-to-head at 1.20 (bet365). Those looking for more risk should consider the Chiefs -7.5 at 1.53 (bet365).

Looking at the totals market, six of the Chiefs’ seven home games over the last twelve months went over the bookmaker’s total. The Chiefs’ average total score at home this season is 73, which is the highest in the league. Their lowest total score at home this season is 63. The Reds have averaged just 55.3 total points away from home, but their away fixture against the Crusaders saw 62 points and their last visit to Hamilton saw 64 points. With dry conditions expected in Hamilton all week, I would back over 57.5 at 1.87 (betr).

For those who enjoy same-game multis, one option is over 57.5 and Chiefs -4.5 at 2.50 (bet365).

Moana Pasifika

Moana Pasifika vs. Waratahs

Waratahs

The Waratahs have gone 0-6 both in the head-to-head and the line away from home over the last twelve months. They lost this fixture by a 27-12 margin last season. This is on the back of a 24-33 home defeat to Moana Pasifika in 2023. The home side enters this fixture on the back of an upset win over the Crusaders and they have also beaten the Hurricanes this season, so they will be full of confidence. The Waratahs aren’t helped by the loss of star fullback for six to eight weeks. I would back Moana Pasifika in the head-to-head at 1.92 (PlayUp). They are as short as 1.78 with other bookmakers at the time of writing.

Fijian Drua

Fijian Drua vs. Crusaders

Crusaders

The Fijian Drua come into this game on the back of a bye and they have won both previous home games against the Crusaders. The Crusaders have gone 1-5 both in the head-to-head and the line away from home over the last twelve months. Both of the Drua’s previous home wins over the Crusaders were by 1-12 margins and three of the Fijian side’s four home wins over the last twelve months were by the same margin. I would back the Fijian Drua +10.5 at 1.50 (bet365). Those looking for more risk should consider the Fijian Drua 1-12 at 3.75 (Unibet).

Force

Force vs. Highlanders

Highlanders

A telling stat for the Highlanders is they lead the league for losing bonus points, with 4 collected from their four defeats. They’re always in the contest but can’t get over the line. The Highlanders have gone 2-7 away from home over the last twelve months and 1-6 as the away underdog. They have a 0-2 record as the away underdog against the Force. The Force have gone 5-2 at home over the last twelve months and 2-0 as the home favourite. I would back the Force in the head-to-head at 1.63 (PlayUp). Those looking for more risk should consider the Force 1-12 at 2.95 (Unibet).
