Draftstars have a $60,000 fantasy sports contest for the Brisbane v Collingwood clash on Thursday night. Entry costs $15 and the top 25% of participants will receive a payout.

Brisbane

Brisbane vs. Collingwood

Collingwood

We start the round with a contest between two sides with just one defeat between them. Brisbane have gone 10-2 in the head-to-head at home over the last twelve months, however their line record over that period was 3-9 and the Lions have yet to cover the line at home this season. Collingwood have gone 3-1 at the line as the away underdog over the last twelve months. Looking at longer term data, the Pies have covered the line in five of the last six matches as the away underdog against Brisbane. Collingwood have limited their last four opponents to 45, 70, 46 and 78 points. The Pies have won their last three clashes against Brisbane and this includes a 20-point win at the Gabba last year. Seven of Brisbane’s ten home wins over the last twelve months were by 1-24 margins and Collingwood have only lost one away game by 25+ over the same period. I would back Collingwood +24.5 at 1.45 (bet365).

West Coast

West Coast vs. Essendon

Essendon

West Coast have lost seven on the trot, spanning this season and the last. The average margin of defeat across those games was 64.9. Their last two defeats were by 81 and 71-point margins. West Coast failed to cover the line in their last three defeats. Last week’s 71-point defeat was at the hands of the previously winless Carlton. Essendon bring a two-game winning streak into this clash. The Bombers have won four in a row against West Coast. Essendon have a poor line record as the favourite, so I’m on the fence regarding the line and margin markets. I will simply back Essendon in the head-to-head at 1.25 (betr).

Melbourne

Melbourne vs. Fremantle

Fremantle

I’m happy to continue betting against Melbourne each week. The Demons are 0-5 for the season and they failed to cover the line in their last four defeats. Spanning this season and the last, Melbourne bring a six-game losing streak at home into this game. Scoring is the issue. Their last four offensive efforts have seen them score 66, 62, 46 and 57 points. Fremantle have won and covered the line in each of their last three away games against Melbourne. The Dockers bring a three-game winning streak into this clash. They played Melbourne twice last year and won by 92 and 50 point margins. I would back Fremantle in the head-to-head at 1.42 (Dabble). Given Melbourne’s scoring troubles, Under 170.5 at 1.80 (Dabble) also appeals, as does the SGM multi of Fremantle to win & Under 172.5 at 2.40 (Dabble).
