Blues

Blues vs. Force

Force

This bet is primarily based on the poor away form of the Force. The Perth side has gone 1-6 away from home over the last twelve months and their away line record over that period was 2-5. They have a 0-7 record away from home against the Blues and the score last season was 50-3. Both of the Force’s previous two games in New Zealand this season saw them concede 55+ points. Five of the Force’s six away defeats over the last twelve months were by 8+ margins, while six of the Blues’ eight home wins over the same period were by 13+ margins. The Blues are almost out of finals contention, but a bonus point win over the 6th ranked Force would see them leap right back into the mix. The Blues have won two in a row at home. I would back the Blues in the head-to-head at 1.17 (Dabble). Those looking for more risk should consider the Blues -7.5 at 1.48 (bet365).

Fijian Drua

Fijian Drua vs. Reds

Reds

This game is being played in Suva, rather than the Drua’s fortress in Lautoka, but the Reds have a 0-2 head-to-head and line record at this venue. The Drua have only suffered one 8+ home defeat over the last twelve months. The Reds, meanwhile, have failed to cover the line in their last seven away games and their four away wins over the last twelve months were all by 1-7 margins. I would back the Fijian Drua +7.5 at 1.50 (bet365).

Hurricanes

Hurricanes vs. Chiefs

Chiefs

Over the last twelve months, eight of the Chiefs’ nine away games went under the bookmaker’s total. Since 2019, their average total score against the Hurricanes is 51.0 and their last seven clashes averaged 48.4 total points. I would back Under 57.5 at 1.91 (bet365).

Brumbies

Brumbies vs. Waratahs

Waratahs

The Brumbies have won seven in a row at home against the Waratahs and they will be keen to avenge not only last week’s defeat to the Hurricanes, but their earlier defeat to the Waratahs in Sydney. Spanning this year and previous seasons, the Waratahs have lost twelve consecutive away games. Over the last twelve months all six of their away defeats were by 13+ margins. Needless to say, the Waratahs failed to cover the line away from home over that period. With the dataset I have at hand, the Brumbies have covered the line in six of their last nine home meetings against the Waratahs when the Brumbies were the favourite. I would back the Brumbies in the head-to-head at 1.33 (bet365). This selection is as short as 1.27 with other bookmakers at the time of writing. Eight of the Brumbies’ last eleven home wins over the Waratahs were by 8+ margins, so those looking for more risk should consider the Brumbies -7.5 at 1.72 (bet365).

Highlanders

Highlanders vs. Moana Pasifika

Moana Pasifika

Previous Highlanders vs. Moana Pasifika fixtures averaged 55.4 total points, with no game going above 62. This resulted in all five of their previous match-ups going under the bookmaker’s total. This season the Highlanders have averaged just 51.2 total points at home. This has seen four of their five home fixtures go under the total. They have enjoyed plenty of possession and territory, but the Highlanders have struggled to score in recent weeks. Their last two fixtures saw them score just 10 point in each game. Moana Pasifika have a reputation for high scoring games, but their last away fixture against the Blues saw just 53 total points. Coming into this game their last three totals were 53, 24 and 49. I would back Under 65.5 at 1.91 (bet365).
