The maximum payout for a racing or sport/racing combination multi bet involving a derivative market (“Tote Multi Bet”) is $40,000. The maximum payout for a same-game multi and same-race multi is $40,000.

Mobile betting

The website uses a responsive design that tailors the layout to the screen size of your device.

Android and iPhone Apps are available. At the time of writing the Android App had a 4.1 star rating from 21 reviews, while the Apple App had a 3.7 star rating from 86 reviews.

Bookmaker Margin

The bookmaker margin (overround) is a measure of the bookmaker’s profit margin for an event and is a hidden transaction cost for punters. This profit is how bookmakers finance their services but bookmakers vary in the margins they apply. From a punter’s perspective, the lower the margin, the better. Learn more about bookmaker margins.

BetGalaxy was not included in our most recent bookmaker margins and markets survey.

Our first impression is that BetGalaxy’s odds for Australian sports are decently competitive. We observed 1.90 odds for line and total score markets for the NRL and AFL.

We’ve seen margins for overseas sports such as the NFL start off higher and then narrow down leading up to the event start.

It wasn’t hard to find markets for which BetGalaxy offered better odds on selected outcomes than leading bookmakers. For an English Premier League fixture we found a head-to-head pick at 4.60 odds, while the next best odds we observed from a survey of eight major bookmakers was 4.50.

Sports Markets

BetGalaxy offers wagering on athletics, Australian rules, baseball, basketball, boxing, cricket, cycling, darts, elections & politics, American football, field hockey, handball, ice hockey, lawn bowls, motor racing, netball, novelty events, Olympics & Commonwealth Games, rugby league, rugby union, snooker, soccer, surfing, swimming, tennis, winter sports, volleyball & beach volleyball and sailing.

The range of markets per fixture is impressive. Some market counts per game we observed were:
AFL: 277
MLB: 415
NRL: 80
NFL: 598
Tennis: 27
Soccer: 225
WNBA: 250

Same-game multi (SGM) betting is supported on popular leagues. Impressively, you get access to the full range of markets when switching from single bet to SGM mode. It wasn’t just the most popular leagues that supported SGMs. We observed SGMs for more obscure football content such as the Brazilian Serie B, the Asian World Cup Qualifiers and the UEFA Nations League.

Futures markets are more limited. At the time of review (September) the only soccer future markets we observed were for the English Super League Women, Spanish Copa del Rey, Australian A-League and FIFA World Cup. Notable omissions from that list were the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League. For American football, only the NFL regular season MVP and NFL first draft pick were available at the time of review. For the primary Australian sporting codes, AFL Premiership and Brownlow medal futures were available for Australian Rules, and the Grand Final winner was available for the NRL.

In-Play Betting

In-play phone betting was not available at the time of review.

Betting Interface

BetGalaxy sports navigation screenshot

The BetGalaxy website employs a responsive design that tailors the layout to suit the screen size of your device. This review will focus on the three-column layout that is displayed on laptops and PCs.

The website uses the familiar layout of navigation on the left, markets and odds in the centre and the betting slip on the right. Racing and popular sports are displayed in the left panel by default. When All Sports is selected the upcoming games are shown in the centre. Selecting A-Z sports provides the full list of sports. When a sport like soccer is selected, the leagues are displayed in a nested menu in the centre column, alongside odds for upcoming games.

Breadcrumbs are provided at the top of the page. These provide quick access to higher categories. A search function is also available to help find a selected team or event.

Overall, the navigation on the website works well.

BetGalaxy odds display

For sports such as the NRL, the list of fixtures includes the head-to-head, line and O/U market odds for the upcoming fixtures. This is a big time saver for those who primarily bet on those three markets.

For each game, the available number of markets is shown, along with an icon to indicate whether same-game multis are supported.

The markets display is slightly unusual because the categories are shown at the top in a horizontal panel. Buttons are provided near the top of the page to toggle between all markets (standard betting) and same game multi betting.

beter betslip

The betting slip supports singles bets and multi betting, but not exotic multis such as a Trixie (which consists of four bets: three doubles and a treble). You can learn more about exotic multis in our Beginner’s Guide to Multi Betting.

Rather than use a tab format, multis options are shown below the singles options. The potential returns are shown when you enter stake amounts.

The fixture or race pertaining to each selection is shown in the slip with a hyperlink. This enables you to jump back to that event from the betting slip.

You can easily mix racing and sports selections in the same slip.

If you’re not into exotic multis then the betting slip functionality has all you could possibly ask for. The lack of tabs for singles vs. multi betting makes it beginner-friendly.

Horse Racing

BetGalaxy racing interface

The BetGalaxy racing interface is simple and intuitive. Events are organised by date and race type. The display of thoroughbreds, harness and greyhound racecards can be toggled on and off. You can also toggle on and off the display of international and Australian venues.

Racing exotics are paid using Middle Tote (the middle dividend as declared from the NSW TAB, VIC TAB and QLD TAB).

Flexi betting is available. This enables you to take a Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta, First Four or Quadrella at an outlay to suit a smaller budget.

BetGalaxy race odds

Blended bets are available. A blended bet wins if any one of a selection of runners wins the race. The more runners you add to the blended bet, the lower the odds, but the higher the chance of winning.

Same Race Multis are available on certain racecards. The available same-race multi options are win, top 2, top 3 and top 4. You could back, for example, one runner to win and another runner to run in the top 4.

BetGalaxy wasn’t included in our most recent bookmaker margins and markets survey, but on first glance, their fixed odds for midweek Australian racing aren’t as competitive as the leading bookmakers.

Upsides

  • Identity verification is quick and easy
  • Broad range of markets
  • Strong same-game multi support
  • Cashing out of bets is supported
  • Flexi betting is supported for racing
  • Blended betting is supported for racing
  • Beginner-friendly betting slip functionality
  • Members can opt out of receiving marketing messages
  • Prominent access to responsible gambling tools
  • No minimum odds required to meet deposit turnover requirements

Downsides

  • Limited deposit options
  • Little is known about the owners
  • Less competitive fixed odds for racing

Bottom Line

BetGalaxy is a small, Victoria-based bookmaker that leverages the BetCloud betting platform to punch above its weight. It’s biggest drawcards are the broad range of markets per fixture, excellent same-game multi support and its provision of blended betting for racing. The interface works well and we didn’t have to look far to find selections for which BetGalaxy offered higher odds than other bookmakers.
